To feel sorry for Trump?

tartanti · 04/11/2020 21:27

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

All the hate he gets Hmm

He loves it any attention is good attention the best thing is for him to be ignored

Mittens030869 · 05/11/2020 07:49

You do realise that his cavalier approach to campaigning with massive rallies is going to increase the spread of COVID, which was already out of control in the US? Biden has been campaigning with COVID in mind, maintaining social distancing.

MoonJelly · 05/11/2020 07:52

This is the man who has presided over a horrendous covid death rate, to say nothing of the equally horrendous gun death rate. He has a lot of blood on his hands.

Interesting theory going round that the only reason for his threats of litigation is that he wants to give himself negotiating room to try to get immunity from prosecution.

"He campaigned SO hard for this election compared to Biden"

Just that one comment alone is ridiculous and risible.

"His kids clearly love him"....seriously, what?

"I think losing this election will destroy him as a person". Well he is a narcissist with a God complex, so even if/when he loses, he will always believe in his heart that he won. A conspiracy theorist is able to dismiss a raft of incontrovertible evidence because they just want to. And that's what he'll do. So you can save your tears, OP. Donald Trump will always believe that Donald trump is the rightful leader.

Perhaps you could direct your sympathy towards some of the 230,000 people who have died in the US because he said Corona virus was a 'hoax' and that people could just 'drink bleach' and that only fools like 'Sleepy Joe wear a mask'.

Mittens030869 · 05/11/2020 08:07

His behaviour the last couple of days reminds me of my DDs when we say that it’s not their turn to play on the laptop; they say, ‘It’s not fair!’ My response, ‘Life isn’t fair’ is a lesson that the President doesn’t appear to have learned despite being 73 and not 11/8. Hmm

TheJourneyWoman · 05/11/2020 08:13

to say nothing of the equally horrendous gun death rate.

He's got a lot to answer for it's true but no president has ever had the will or courage to address the gun laws and culture in the US. It's an immediate vote loser and they'd be out of office at the next opportunity. Americans largely want guns and free access to them. I don't think this can be laid at Trump's door.

Nacknick · 05/11/2020 08:20

@Dan1980
Well if Trump has dementia I'm not sure what Biden has when he called Trump George thinking he was still in the days of George Bush

The person who was interviewing him was called George 🙄
Please do some basic research before you make such ridiculous statements.

Mittens030869 · 05/11/2020 08:21

Obama tried very hard to impose restrictions on gun ownership, but he wasn’t able to do so. American people are far to keen on their Constitutional ‘right to bear arms’. Plus the National Rifle Association has far too much influence in the US.

Trump has actively supported the Constitutional right to bear arms.

Ansjovis · 05/11/2020 08:22

He was asked if he condemns white supremacy, possibly the easiest question ever asked to a presidential candidate, and he responded with a rallying cry. I don't need to know anything else. I oppose white supremacy in all of its forms and therefore I have no sympathy for this man whatsoever.

willstarttomorrow · 05/11/2020 08:23

I caught myself feeling a bit sorry for Teresa May when she stood down and had to give myself a talking to. OP, sorry but REALLY!!!!!!

Anon778833 · 05/11/2020 08:30

@Nacknick don’t worry about replying to ‘Dan’ MNHQ have informed me it’s a troll and have been banned.

Chemenger · 05/11/2020 08:30

I may well get my first deletion here but honestly OP you are an idiot. He’s a compulsive liar, a misogynist and a racist. He cannot string together a coherent sentence on any subject. He has no respect for the office of President, the rule of law or democracy. I hope he and his vile family rot in prison after they move out of the White House.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 05/11/2020 08:32

I kind of feel sorry for Spitting Image Trump. He's got a certain unexpected charm and coherence. If he ends up in the trash can, it will be a waste.

FlatandFabulous · 05/11/2020 08:38

You really can't argue with stupid can you!

Lelophants · 05/11/2020 08:51

😂😂😂 even his wife seems scared of him.

Do you also feel sorry for Hitler? He is the most powerful man in the world and has got away with abuse for so long. If he wasn't president he'd be in jail with the stuff that's been uncovered. Anyone who has been close to him has come out and said he's a psychopath.

Doobiedooo · 05/11/2020 08:56

@user1471565182

Seriously whats going on with you Dan? got upset at the result so decided to sign up to mumsnet in the middle of the night to talk bollocks?
Haha haha and alert us as to the difference between race and religion... without, erm, understanding that RACE is also an invention. No such bounded thing. Victorian idea, disproven by genetic analysis. Skin colour & looks are superficial, skin deep, easily changed within two generations. HTH.
ZazieRoses · 05/11/2020 09:10

Bye Wig.

ClinkeyMonkey · 05/11/2020 09:17

YABU, but you know that or you wouldn't have hidden behind a name change.

If only the stocks could be brought back for n'er-do-wells. I would be on the next plane to the US (wearing my maskGrin), letting the cabbages, tomatoes and eggs rot happily in my extra large suitcase. And I would be like a woman possessed pelting that misogynistic, racist old shit with an accuracy I could only ever have dreamed of in my crappy school PE days. I have honestly never felt such a visceral reaction to a person I've never met.

He really does deserve everything he gets. I hope he spends his old age behind bars. Unfortunately time to reflect is unlikely to change him.

WhatifIfeellikeacat · 05/11/2020 09:26

Both of them should just retire.

Natsel84 · 05/11/2020 09:28

Never seen his wife smile so much , she must know hes on the assassination list 🤔

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2020 09:30

I think winning is very important to him, he’s a sore looser and will see it as failure, he gets very caught up in the moment and fires from the hip.

I think Melania will be secretly delighted if he looses,

I don’t feel sorry for him, I don’t think he behaves well, but I think winning a second time was hugely important to him, it was like a validation thing, and I think we have some spectacular scenes to come as everyone knows they are going to have to drag him out of there kicking and screaming. He’s not going to go out being classy.

tartanti · 05/11/2020 09:33

I feel sorry for him op, but I’m very glad he appears to be losing.

Well at least there’s one other person on this thread who’s had similar thoughts! Blush

PhilSwagielka · 05/11/2020 09:36

Biden campaigned too, he just didn’t hold massive rallies because there’s this pandemic going on so it’s not a good idea.

PhilSwagielka · 05/11/2020 09:38

@AwaAnBileYerHeid

All these people being rude to you are the reason why people who were politically homeless or who were just thinking about voting trump actually voted for him and ended up being pro trump.
If people vote for Trump out of spite, that’s their problem. I’ve been called a shitload of names by right wingers but funny how they’re allowed to be as rude as they want and they get a pass, eh?
CitizenClem · 05/11/2020 09:39

YABU, but, I am fascinated by people's opinion of Trump.

I see him as a person devoid of any redeeming characteristics, of a man so awful that I cannot see how anyone would support him. I realise I am in a "bubble", and I am fascinated that 48% of Americans would consider voting for him after the past four years. It baffles me.
