@Iwillneverbesatisfied yes. Biden does have a stutter and worked hard to control it. He also helps children who have one. apnews.com/article/30951d24b0dab8b9ced01704d8ee9f2c

Roussette · 04/11/2020 08:27

HMSSophie what is good though is... there's a time lag between his words and his mouth so I'm blocking it out. He's talking bollocks. Andrew Neil is not allowing him to get away with it.

The good news is that 6 weeks ago I booked a hair cut for today (not expecting lockdown)
The bad news is that my hairdresser thinks Trump is an OK guy.

I'm going to suggest enhanced covid precautions and suggest complete silence throughout the appointment

HMSSophie · 04/11/2020 08:27

rousette one might wish for a longer time lag, like 50 years.

Phoenix21 · 04/11/2020 08:28

😢

CaveMum · 04/11/2020 08:28

Bloody hell, 6,312 people in Kentucky actually voted for Kanye West 🤯

The state by state tallies are interesting www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/us2020/states

Khadernawazkhan · 04/11/2020 08:28

The Black and Latino vote for Trump has been unprecedented. Fantastic to see more plurality rather than the expectation from Democrats that they will by default vote for them.

Frazzled13 · 04/11/2020 08:28

Garage is so disingenuous. “They shouldn’t count mail in votes because the biggest democracy in the world should be able to declare a result on the day”
Maybe they should, but they can’t. The answer to that would be more efficient counting/more vote counters. Not just not fucking counting them. No one being honest would think that’s the logical way to go.

Frazzled13 · 04/11/2020 08:29

Obviously by garage I meant Farage.

Maireas · 04/11/2020 08:30

Thanks for the thread, @Roussette. I'm watching in disbelief. I have everything crossed for Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.....

BiBabbles · 04/11/2020 08:30

Can I check, when BBC says how many votes are left to count, does that include mail in votes?

Like so many things, this depends on the state. Some count absentee votes first, others count them second (just as some states require them to arrive before the election and some give a grace period of a few days and still be willing to count them).

In PA, to my knowledge, yes the mail-in votes are counted second and it was expected for them to not get to them until this morning. I think this is also true in Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 04/11/2020 08:30

I blame the BBC's giving so much unchallenged air-space to Farage for Brexit. Our once-beloved "Auntie Beeb" is the UK equivalent to Fox these days.

CherryValanc · 04/11/2020 08:31

I know I should be used to it now. He's been around for four years doing this. But I do NOT understand how anyone can be so void of embarrassment at their ludicrous behaviour and the childish things they say.

I also don't get how so many people believe him.

Tanith · 04/11/2020 08:32

Interesting that Trump has repeatedly declared that he won and that the election is rigged/fraudulent.

What if both claims are actually true?

Roussette · 04/11/2020 08:32

Bruce hahaha... and there is one good thing to come out of shutdown. We often have a drink with NDNs on a Friday at a socially distanced pub table.
NDN is a rabid Trump supporter.... wooohooo I don't have to see him!

Sophie yes that would be preferable 🤣🤣 He's in Washington, can't he stay there/!

PullTheBricksDown · 04/11/2020 08:32

So we are now at the worst case scenario. If Trump had won fair and square that would be deeply depressing but clear. Now he'll try and cheat his way to a win and burn everything down in the process.

PerkingFaintly · 04/11/2020 08:32

Thanks for the new thread, Roussette.

So, we predicted that the Orange One would prematurely declare victory, try to stop postal votes being counted, and ask for help from the Supreme Court that he appointed.

And, oh, look!

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 04/11/2020 08:33

"The Black and Latino vote for Trump has been unprecedented."

See, things like this. Why? Why would they vote for someone who foments racism and clearly actively does them down and encourages White Supremacy? Why would you do that to yourself?

PerkingFaintly · 04/11/2020 08:34

Now he'll try and cheat his way to a win and burn everything down in the process.

Agreed, PullTheBricksDown. The damage Trumpies are doing to the fabric of the democracy that will long outlive the orange man.

Maireas · 04/11/2020 08:34

The fear of "socialism" which stalks that land.

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 08:36

The thing is, the SCOTUS members are there for life. They no longer owe Trump anything.
And even if they want to do exactly as Trump wants, they have to produce case law and legal arguments for any decision they hand down.

PerkingFaintly · 04/11/2020 08:39

Why does the Republican party have such trouble getting Latino people to vote for it, Khadernawazkhan?

I've just looked at the figures and BBC is giving Hispanic/Latino vote for Trump as 31%, which you say is an increase.

What has the Republican party been doing wrong (and is clearly still doing wrong)?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 04/11/2020 08:39

"Socialism* - pffffffft. There's right and far-right in the US, not a hint of socialism to be seen, even Bernie Sanders is hardly radical.

Lonelycrab · 04/11/2020 08:39

So the Graun are saying Biden 238 vs Trump 213.

The beeb are saying 220-213.

What’s all that about?

CaraDuneRedux · 04/11/2020 08:39

Signing in.

It's going to be mayhem in the next few days.
