Most of those postal ballots in Georgia will be Biden. So if they walk and its very close in Georgia (which is expected) they could yet tip the election.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 04/11/2020 18:26

Oh, and they vote Blue.

anon444877 · 04/11/2020 18:27

Oh yes, I don't think it's their fault, the postal vote was clearly vast this election cycle and staffing didn't reach fast enough.

I see Royal Mail here is now picking up from your door (if you arrange it in advance and pay extra), US posties (at least where I was) picked up mail from the letter box for posting for years for no extra cost.

anon444877 · 04/11/2020 18:28

Yes I'd have thought they voted blue, that's why I say incompetence (of the higher ups to allocate adequate staff) more likely the problem. Sorry for the offence!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 04/11/2020 18:28

CNN saying Susan Collins may not be in yet... she doesn’t yet have 50% of the vote so if she stays below 50% then Maine goes to the ranked ballot and 2nd choices are counted... she is on something like 49.5% so it’s probably not going to be the end of her - sadly.

AlwaysLatte · 04/11/2020 18:29

I think people should have to take an IQ test before voting. Sadly, that is not the case and it's led to a very dangerous situation.

Collins has won.

occa · 04/11/2020 18:31

Gideon has conceded to Collins in Maine, unfortunately.

BloomedAgain · 04/11/2020 18:32

Thanks @tobee I'm waiting on a test result. Otherwise just keep refreshing the election results ...

No offence at all, sorry, it's my warped sense of humour. Yes, I agree, it is the high ups who are to blame, particularly the joyous one recently put in post by the orange narcissist.
GetTheDoorFrank · 04/11/2020 18:36

Why is google showing biden at 238 and everywhere else is 227

NewlyGranny · 04/11/2020 18:36

I don't think 54 knows what 'recount' means. You have to finish the original count first!

You can be intelligent and intolerant.

My apologies, this made oi larf. It will only be understood by a small section of UK readers, listeners to BBC R4, from the "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue Appreciation Society" on FB.

*Breaking News.

The US election will be decided by a game of Mornington Crescent (DC rules). A tie will be resolved using Duckworth-Lewis.*

Oi! Had a gob full of tea when I read that!

Had.

maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 18:39

Trump's lead in Pennsylvania is decreasing, although still a big margin - dare we hope Biden will take that too?🤔

Msloverlover · 04/11/2020 18:41

I’m wondering how much of the support for Trump comes down to covid too. Specifically the lack of social support and employment security meaning people, especially younger, working age and less vulnerable people, are terrified of the idea of European style lock downs.

Any requests?

Wasn't there a big issue with sorting machines? www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-22/usps-ordered-to-restore-high-speed-machines-for-election-mail

Yes I thought that about covid too - all very well if you can afford to isolate but many just can't and their bosses will let them go. I wondered about covid being such a big part of the campaign to hammer Trump with because it's not obvious tougher restrictions are a vote winner.

Biden is doing alright though without my expert strategy advice!

Zixxy · 04/11/2020 18:46

Hope springs eternal. But caution is advised.

Think this is the 11 Arizona votes, which seems generally agreed to been won by Biden but which CNN and possibly others haven't included yet as it hasn't been officially called by the state.
