Does anyone else find adults on the swings ridiculous?

Can't really explain why but I find parents who go on the swings at the park so annoying. Just been to the park with my child and the swings are six swings on a wooden frame all facing each other like in a circle.
Extremely annoying dad on the swings going as high as possibly can and nearly kicking all the other kids feet every time he goes into the circle. Like why would anyone feel the need to do that. Especially when other kids have to wait a turn. Don't mind being told I'm miserable but I just find it ridiculous grown man acting like that, that is all.

I feel exactly the same about killjoys and fun-sponges. Ridiculous imo just no need for it.

Smellbellina · 31/10/2020 22:47

I go on with my DC if no other kids are waiting, and we try and kick each other’s feet. And I go with them on the soft play for a little bit. Not your circus not your monkeys OP

BogRollBOGOF · 31/10/2020 22:50

I like a good play when there aren't other children around to get in the way Grin

JM10 · 31/10/2020 22:57

I love the swings! Especially a bucket swing. Like PPS, I wouldn't go on it and stop children from being on it though. Just us at the park - I'm on there.

Pinkfluff76 · 31/10/2020 23:19

I love going on a swing but will only do it if it’s quiet and there aren’t other kids wanting a turn. If others arrive who might even possibly want to swing I get off.

Pimmsypimms · 31/10/2020 23:28

Whenever I take my ds to the park, he wants me to go on the swings with him. He always wants a race to see who can get the highest first.
I don't particularly like the swings as my arse is rather large and therefore it's not comfortable, however, it's not about me, it's about my ds having fun. I only ever go on them if he asks me to.
I'd never go on the swings if there were other children waiting.

YABU. What a wet blanket you are.

Blueberriesonmyshreddies · 01/11/2020 02:25

They need to build swings (and slides, and roundabouts) to adult proportions so that you get that same thrill as you did as a child.
Better than going to a gym.

BluebellsGreenbells · 01/11/2020 10:18

I said this when the ball parks opened!

Indoors with a bar please

Tinkerbell1980 · 01/11/2020 12:17

I love swings, mind your own business. You have no idea why that dad might need a swing.

Teach your child patience by waiting their turn.

Princessposie · 01/11/2020 12:25

I always go on the swings, but wouldn’t stop a child going on. I’d get off if they wanted it.

Mumwithapub · 02/11/2020 00:29

Town I live in has a lovely double swing in the large park in middle of the town. Toddler swing facing a large swing where I can put my toddler and facing her swing us both. She loves seeing me swinging facing her and I love seeing her face light up. Besides great workout for the core muscles.

AldiAisleofCrap · 02/11/2020 00:31

@Mumwithapub which is lovely as long as you get off immediately if a child wanders over?

SarahBellam · 02/11/2020 04:07

I LOVE the swings AND the zip wire, and so does my dad and he’s 78. We’ll definitely go on both as long as there’s no queue. We also both love a push scooter which I’m sure you also find ridiculous, but the kids and I always loved and it’s great exercise. I also went roller skating with them as well as the usual bike rides and swimming, and yes, I always went on the big slide as long as it wasn’t busy. When did you lose your sense of fun?

nameisnotimportant · 02/11/2020 04:37

O wow you sound like a bag of laughs 🙄 I personally wouldn't go on the swings if other children were waiting but I love a good swing. I think it's important for my children to see me enjoy things and enjoy life. Lighten up Op

Selfisolation2020 · 02/11/2020 07:00

What’s the point in going to a park or soft play if you can’t have a go 🤣 that’s the only reason me and my husband go to them! Should we all just sit on a bench miserable staring at a phone? My kids love that we play too. My eldest is nearly 12 and we always have a swing race 🤣 fun sponge

Angelina82 · 02/11/2020 08:03

The best part about having a kid is that you get to be a kid again yourself isn’t it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Samster1815 · 02/11/2020 08:05

Yeah I love playing in soft play and on swings. We always pick the places that adults can have fun too, like the big adventure parks. When we put a swing in our garden we bought one From brave toys that an adult could use (it’s a steel frame and wider seat) so we can swing in the garden too.

BluebellsGreenbells · 02/11/2020 08:05

soft play if you can’t have a go

Nothing beats the static on a plastic tunnel slide!

Mamabear654 · 08/04/2021 21:13

i say u ysneak up and push them off next time. nobody takes my swing!

Lemmeout · 08/04/2021 21:16

Bit diff if kids waiting, or being a dicky show off look at meeeeeeee !!!.

Lemmeout · 08/04/2021 21:16

Our soft play has an adult evening Hmm

Rewis · 08/04/2021 21:26

I love swings. I don't have kids so can't really go to the playground if there are others. But there is a park next to my with random swings on one corner that are not next to any slides or anything so after my run I go there for a minute. Will move If kids show up. They have the big round swing you can lie back. It's awesome.

Woopywoopwoo · 08/04/2021 21:38

If kids are waiting a turn your Not being unreasonable. I hate adults in the soft play too, different if child is disabled though.

toocold54 · 08/04/2021 21:49

Sad about what? I don't act like a buffoon in the play area. I have plenty of fun

You sound like a barrel of laughs.

I’ve always played with my DD in parks etc. As long as there’s no children waiting/ in the way.
Do you not play dolls or have pretend tea parties at home with your DC?
