Bovril and Marmite ... is the same thing isn't it ?

Just made myself the most delicious fresh toast with lashings of butter and Bovril..... yum 😁
Said to husband in passing: "I don't like Marmite as much but Bovril I could empty a tub in days!"
DH: "Surely it's the same thing isn't it ?".
The look on my face said it all 😆

YABI = it's the same thing!
YANBU = it's 2 totally different things and anyone saying it is not needs a smack with a wet fish !

Bovril is beef based and marmite is vegetarian.

Marmite isn’t vegetarian, vegimite is vegetarian tho.

Marmite IS vegetarian..in fact it's vegan too!

They're different and either on toast is rank.

One is concentrated beef stock and one is salty yeast extract left over from brewing beer.

They are both brown and savoury and come in a jar. So is peanut butter, just a paler brown. Does he think that they are the same as peanut butter ?

Bovril on buttered toast is the food of the gods. Marmite should be banned immediately but my daughter would never speak to me again. Guess we have to keep both then.

Marmite is delicious. Vegemite is disappointing. Don’t like Bovril, but I don’t like meat much either.

I knew one of them was vegan and assumed it was vegimite !

Will try bovril though - remember having a hot bovril drink out of the machine after swimming when we were kids

Vegemite is a different texture to marmite and horrible. Marmite is lively on buttered toast. Not tried bovril on toast but will do for breakfast!

I prefer Marmite to Bovril but agree they aren’t the same!

Also like vegemite - would come behind Marmite but above Bovril for me.
