To think that Trump is not going to get re-elected?

There are still a few fringe types who think he’s going to get a landslide victory.

Personally I find this unlikely.

Any MNers from across the pond have a view more informed than myself?

I really hope Trump gets another term. Biden is not mentally capable of running the country. He’s made so many gaffes with his speeches recently, it’s beyond embarrassing. If he wins, he will be the puppet not the puppet master. He will be there, but others will be pulling the strings.

Parker231 · 02/11/2020 21:29

Biden has good people skills - it showed in the debates whereas Trump has acted like a wild animal throwing out accusations and make up stories. I think, and hope the American public have seen through the Trump lies and damage he’s caused. It’s time for a change for the better. Trump in the White House for another term would be dangerous for the US population and the world at large.
I’ve been reading the Trump Twitter feeds and enough people are challenging the lies and hopefully the result will be the right one when the final vote has been counted.

The great stable genius, yeah?

Honestly don't know how anyone can look at that sexist, racist, mentally challenged, narcissistic, lying orange shitbag and think 'that's just what our country needs.'

Viviennemary · 02/11/2020 21:50

Surely people must be looking at Biden thinking he just can't be president. Same as a lot of people thought no we can't have Jeremy Corbyn as PM. Different reasons of course but it boils down to the same.

Parker231 · 02/11/2020 21:59

I look at Trump and Biden and think are they really the best the US can come up with!

Shows the poor state of the US political world.

Livelovebehappy · 02/11/2020 22:01

Agree viviennemary. On paper, trump should lose by a landslide, but the alternative is equally disturbing. Same situation as UK had; Boris not a great proposition, but Corbyn even less so. Biden just doesn’t seem capable and I think it’s more a case of whether people hate Trump more than they worry about Biden’s mental capacity. And I think a lot of people’s main aim is to get Trump out first, then hope that Biden will get his act together.

Cherrycee · 02/11/2020 22:06

Can't believe what I'm reading here. Trump is the most incompetent president in US history. On what planet is he more capable than Biden? Confused

Couldn't agree more.

And add most nepotistic, corrupt, untruthful and hateful to the list too.

I really hope Trump gets another term. Biden is not mentally capable of running the country. He’s made so many gaffes with his speeches recently, it’s beyond embarrassing.

Evidence / examples? Because all the ones I have seen have either been fake or deliberately taken out of context.

CoffeeandCroissant · 02/11/2020 22:27

For example: edition.cnn.com/2020/11/01/tech/false-biden-video-twitter/index.html

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2020 22:29

Biden has a well publicised stammer. Explains some of his speech issues.

What about Trump? The oranges of Nambia.....

Viviennemary · 02/11/2020 22:31

Biden wont even see the term out. He's far too frail. Why did they put him forward.

AdoraBell · 02/11/2020 22:32

Just like 2016, I think he will be re-elected. I really hope he doesn’t, hope the Democrats get a landslide victory. But I don’t think it will happen.

I desperately want to be proved wrong this time around 🤞

Livelovebehappy · 02/11/2020 22:49

coffeeandcroissant there are so many examples - you don’t really need me to provide links. We’re both clearly seeing the same clips, but reaching different conclusions. You think Biden is competent and very capable, which is absolutely fine - your opinion. But I’ve seen the same and have huge doubts. I have seen some of the Press challenging the interpretation of the quotes and clips, but the reality is that they are following their own agendas in this election, and are obviously trying their best to explain away some of the quotes. It remains to be seen how the American electorate view Biden’s performance during this campaign. I agree with pp’s who are questioning why, in the entire population of the US, these two are the best candidates the parties can come up with.

MerchantOfVenom · 02/11/2020 22:50

He’s made so many gaffes with his speeches recently, it’s beyond embarrassing.

But Trump’s made many more, and he doesn’t have a diagnosed speech impediment. Confused

Goosefoot · 02/11/2020 23:19

I'm not a huge Biden fan, but there's plenty of reason to think Trump is suffering from some kind of cognitive degeneration.

Though I do wonder about Biden's health generally.

HoldMyLobster · 02/11/2020 23:42

A summary of Biden's medical fitness from his doctor last December. Doctor has been his PCP for 11 years.

go.joebiden.com/page/-/CiU2iAa4Ig_%20j5EQzueoad.pdf

He doesn't drink or smoke, and he works out 5 days a week.

He has had medical interventions - they're listed, along with the meds he takes.

Doesn't sound like a particularly doddery 77 year old to me.

You what, mate? Hmm

Just take a look at the current polling stats here:

You and all the other MAGA morons will soon be skulking back to your little holes, never to be heard from again.

What time will states start being counted? Smile

MissConductUS · 03/11/2020 01:04

When the polls close in that state.

I think HoldMyLobster posted this link earlier, but here's a rough idea of when results might start coming in:

projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-results-timing/

I think it's pretty much a given that we won't have final results for a while (weeks?) though, this time.

CoffeeandCroissant · 03/11/2020 02:11

there are so many examples

Yet you don't even provide one, never mind the 'so many' you claim.

not mentally capable of running the country
Quite a serious claim, but completely without evidence.

I don't find Biden a particularly inspiring candidate at all, but he is clearly better than the alternative and appears perfectly capable of doing the job.

CoffeeandCroissant · 03/11/2020 02:17

"If he wins, he will be the puppet not the puppet master. He will be there, but others will be pulling the strings."

No, what he is likely to do is to delegate and (unlike Trump) put competent people into important positions. For example, he has a highly regarded economic adviser, he will most likely appoint Fauci to a central role in tackling the pandemic instead of sidelining him, etc etc

EmmaGrundyForPM · 03/11/2020 02:23

My PiL live in PA . The support for Trump.there is incredible. Every gaffe, every error, is forgiven by the Trump devotees

This has almost rendered me speechless. I'm not sure whether to laugh, or to be sad that someone can be so clueless.
