Anyone else do weird stuff they wouldn't admit to in real life?

Go easy on me, I know MN can be a hostile time at the minute,,,,
I am currently obsessed with The Handmaids Tale, cant stop watching the series on Prime, and I was lying in the bath having a soak and I started to mimic the lead characters facial movements, and then I though since I have been watching it, I pretend I'm in it, pretending that I am also an oppressed woman and answer to men only etc, is this weird?

I do this with other things like books or other series, it doesn't affect my life, in a crazy way but more like a day dream sort of way and when the kids ask for a snack, i snap out of it. Am I the only weirdo around here, or do have weird things you do that you would never admit to in real life or do I need some professional help :)

I'm weird as fuck.

No one would guess though 😂

Imissmoominmama · 15/10/2020 13:27

I make escape plans in my head. I used to do it when I worked in school; I’d work out where to take my class if someone came into school to try to harm them.

I do it on walks too; I imagine a big cat stalking me and how I’d deal with it.

I plan disaster strategies all the time.

I’m really weird (but surprisingly cheerful considering all the terrible things I’m imagining).

Abitlikeabiscuit · 15/10/2020 13:33

Oh god yes... I have whole worlds in my head that I can access when I'm bored and I tend to get a bit obsessed with stuff for a while then move on (recently the Challenger space disaster for some reason!). I'm really strange sometimes and have wondered what I'd be like on a desert island without society to moderate my behaviour. Just glad I can snap out of it and act normal when I need to!

OneofPansPeople · 15/10/2020 13:38

Oh Me too. Just this morning I was in an episode of Law and Order Criminal Intent, I have also done my own cookery shows, interviews on Parkinson, all kinds. I am a nutter Blush
Accessing my dream world is something I do often.

Notselfish · 15/10/2020 13:42

That is quite weird op Grin

When I'm going to sleep, I lie in bed and I like to think about what I'd do if I won the lottery. I imagine the house I'd have, and how it would all be laid out. It's not unlike my own house, but bigger and with lots of extras like my dream kitchen.

I get frustrated (about my imaginary house), because I want a bay window, which would mean having the living room at the front, but I also want a conservatory coming off the living room.

I fall asleep then. But I do the same thing most nights

britnay · 15/10/2020 13:43

I have worlds in my head too :D I also tend to map out escape routes when I go to new places :o

Icanseewhyichangednyusername · 15/10/2020 13:45

I used to pretend to be a tv presenter. Arts and crafts, playing in garden, tidying my toys. I think I only stopped when my older sister caught me talking to imaginary tv while cooking pasta Blush

MrsKJones · 15/10/2020 13:46

@Lorddenning1 I am currently obsessed with Once Upon A Time. Captain Hook does funny things to me - am currently re-watching s3 for like the 10th time. My DH is definitely getting the benefit of this particular obsession

Everythingmagnolia · 15/10/2020 13:46

I talk to myself while driving and hum whilst I am doing my shopping Blush

PenguinsOnParade · 15/10/2020 13:47

I keep spreadsheets of information from games I play, e.g. the clothing and items (including the different colours) I've bought in Animal Crossing or the names and info about my Sims, and all my Sims are given middle names and random birthdays in the spreadsheet too. Blush

Claphands · 15/10/2020 13:47

I like to imagine how id live in a tiny space In somewhere like NY, Somewhere like those tiny box rooms you get in Japan, it started years ago when i had a small single room on a residential course and now i imagine how id fit fay to day living into somewhere as small as my downstairs loo!
Told you it was weird!!

readingismycardio · 15/10/2020 13:49

Yup, i'm currently Emily in Paris (netflix) all single and beautiful & my clothes are designer (yeah, all of them) & I eat croissant and pain au chocolat daily but obviously I don't gain any weightGrin

crochetmonkey74 · 15/10/2020 13:50

Claphands

I do this!

WriteronaMission · 15/10/2020 13:51

Oh man, I make escape plans all the time. I know exactly how I'll deal with a fire in the house, which ever room it starts in.

I'm very weird. My DH says it's why he married me. He's the only one who gets to see how weird I really am.

MaMisled · 15/10/2020 13:52

I'm not a morning person. If I have to be somewhere before 10, I'll sleep in clothes I'm going to walk dogs in then shower and change before going out 🤭

Imissmoominmama · 15/10/2020 13:57

@WriteronaMission- DH’s favourite was when I took 3 empty 2L water bottles with me onto the cross channel ferry. I was going to secure them to DD with my pashmina, as a makeshift buoyancy aid, in case the ferry was bombed and we ended up in the water...

UncleBunclesHouse · 15/10/2020 14:02

So so many and if anyone knew about them I think I’d be locked up Grin

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 15/10/2020 14:06

I’m strangely reassured in a way I never thought I’d need to be that I’m not the only one who makes escape plans for every occasion. Also do survival plans in case escape isn’t an / the best option.

Blufandango · 15/10/2020 14:12

Yep, I disaster plan too, not even just for me but friends and colleagues. I think its why I tend to be calm during a crisis (but rarely in the aftermath). Since being little I've pretended to be doing a Crime Watch style reconstructions or, done or said something usual just in case it needed to be recreated at a later date.

AlviesMam · 15/10/2020 14:14

I like to pretend I'm on come dine with me when cooking 😂😂😂

AzraiL · 15/10/2020 14:16

I figure out escape plans in my head in case of disaster. Mostly fires and intruders.

And if I watch a show where a conversation takes place and it's not 'satisfying' enough, I re-write that scene in my head, pretending I'm one of the characters.

Also if I'm by myself in the house alone and I've got music on while I clean I give concerts, or pretend I'm on my own cooking show.

I speak aloud to myself when I'm trying to analyse an idea or concept.

If I'm trying to figure out what to do, I think/talk about it in my second language. For some reason it makes it easier to unpack.

TheDuchessofMalfy · 15/10/2020 14:18

I’m extremely weird.

I have other worlds entirely in my head, but can also be a character from a book or film / programme from time to time.

I also do the planning for if I won the lottery (but I don’t think that’s weird).

I talk to myself when no one is about.

Lorddenning1 · 15/10/2020 14:27

I do most of these too :)
I do escape plans, house fires and car plunging into water, like how I would get the kids out.
I go to sleep imaging winning the lottery too. i also imagine people can see me living my day to day life, like a reality show, but i dont do this for ages as this is hard to keep up.
glad to see im not the only one who is strange then.

OP posts:
Lorddenning1 · 15/10/2020 14:28

i also do concerts in my kitchen when im listening to my music, since i have been working from home, i feel sorry for my dogs and neighbours..
