Hello everyone.
I tried to find the previous thread on how proud I was of my daughter. But I cant seem to locate it.
Here is a little bit about her she is 9 years old loves to swim, saw that she could raise money to help people that needed help to raise money. She looked into this herself before asking of she could take part so she knew what she was doing and why.
Before lockdown happened she was training her hard to take part in a swimathon she swam and trained so hard well the weekend of the event we all went to lock down she was absolutely devastated. It was postponed until Autumn. She was worried she had worked so hard to raise money cake sales at school, jobs around, once the pools opened back up she wanted to get straight back in the water. I reminded my daughter its ok ill take time 6months no swimming is a big break.
Well yesterday PM she completed her swim she swam 2.5k (100lenghs) in 81mins.
She was so proud! I was so proud! she said it would be something she will never forget. Everyone we have spoken to have said that she is amazing and a star
We knew she would do it but I want to tell as many people as I can im so proud.
Plus she slept very well last night

Ps this is not a asking page this is just so I can shout from the top of the hill....

Congratulations to your daughter! You are right to be proud of her.

PolarBearStrength · 11/10/2020 08:39

@Floatyboat

Well done, 81 minutes may be slow for 2.5k but she got there in the end!
Was that really necessary? She’s 9!

What a great achievement OP.

Unnecessarily rude. Someone always has to get a sly dig in don’t they? Hmm

What a lovely girl you have OP. Congratulations to your little one, it sounds like you have raised her well and she is going to grow into a brave and generous young woman. It sounds like she made a lot of little sacrifices for a 9 year old to reach this goal to help others. Well done to her!

Oh fuck off with you're backhanded 'compliment' @Floatyboat If the first thing that occurs to you is to try and put down a 9 year old who's completed one of her swimming goals then that tells us all we need to know about you.

Congratulations to your DD @Clairelacey9110 I definitely can't swim that far or that fast! And more importantly I think she's shown incredible commitment and resilience in achieving her goal. I hope you're very proud Smile

earthtopluto · 11/10/2020 08:49

@floatyboat well aren't you a Ray of sunshine! OP, that's awesome!

There's always one 😂

What's considered a good time for a 9 year old lol.

Great achievement op 🙂👍🏻

Lemming20 · 11/10/2020 08:52

OP, I think your daughter is an absolute star and that is actually a very quick time! Even if it wasn’t, my very favourite fable is the tortoise and the hare - slow and steady wins the race Smile you sound like wonderful mum x

Meuniere · 11/10/2020 08:53

My first reaction was the think 2.5km for a 9yo is great!!

@Floatyboat, do you know the expression
‘If you dint have anything nice to say, then stay quiet’?

RaskolnikovsGarret · 11/10/2020 08:59

Amazing!! Don’t think I can do one length any more! 100 for a nine year old, what a star!!!! 🌟

dottiedodah · 11/10/2020 09:00

Well done to her! A fantastic achievement. Not able to swim anything like that far ,despite DF being a really good swimmer who saved someones life! Absolutely amazing .I bet she did sleep well!

FiveShelties · 11/10/2020 09:02

@Floatyboat hope you feel better soon. You must feel really bad to want to put down a 9 year old's achievemen

@Clairelacey9110t huge congratulations for your daughter, you must be so proud of her,

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/10/2020 09:03

Wow that’s amazing! As for the slow comment, please ignore. Swimming for that distance and that length of times at only 9 years old shows true tenacity and self belief. 👏👏

STFU!! How sad that the only thing you can find to do on a Sunday morning is to put a child's achievements down!! 😡 😡 😡 😡
Dancingwithdaftness · 11/10/2020 09:07

She'll be fit as a fiddle. Great to be a strong swimmer. I can only do breast stroke.
@Floatyboat - if you can swim for an hour and 20 minutes fair play to you. Otherwise shut the fuck up. Who wants to take the joy out of a young girl's achievement and her mother's pride? The most precious thing to most parents is their children. Your snide little innocuous comment will have hurt the OP like a sucker punch to the gut. Jealous are you? What have your own stalwarts achieved recently?

Op, I remember your original post. Your daughter is a very pretty girl to boot!
