My daughter has done it so proud

Hello everyone.
I tried to find the previous thread on how proud I was of my daughter. But I cant seem to locate it.
Here is a little bit about her she is 9 years old loves to swim, saw that she could raise money to help people that needed help to raise money. She looked into this herself before asking of she could take part so she knew what she was doing and why.
Before lockdown happened she was training her hard to take part in a swimathon she swam and trained so hard well the weekend of the event we all went to lock down she was absolutely devastated. It was postponed until Autumn. She was worried she had worked so hard to raise money cake sales at school, jobs around, once the pools opened back up she wanted to get straight back in the water. I reminded my daughter its ok ill take time 6months no swimming is a big break.
Well yesterday PM she completed her swim she swam 2.5k (100lenghs) in 81mins.
She was so proud! I was so proud! she said it would be something she will never forget. Everyone we have spoken to have said that she is amazing and a star
We knew she would do it but I want to tell as many people as I can im so proud.
Plus she slept very well last night

Ps this is not a asking page this is just so I can shout from the top of the hill....

That's amazing! It takes me an hour to swim 35 lengths and then I can hardly walk afterwards! Great achievement!

feelingfree17 · 11/10/2020 11:04

A big congratulations to her from me. What a lovely girl you are raising. Very proud mummy moment too, and I am sure there will be many more to come
Love from another very proud mummy x

That's absolutely brilliant, and you're right to be proud of your little girl! It reminded me of when my daughter was the same age (in 1981)and doing a sponsored swim. She could barely swim a width so I told my relatives not to worry too much and if they wanted to sponsor her to just say an amount, not per length. One friend said "No, you're mollycoddling her, she needs to stretch herself. It will be more encouraging if I sponsor her per length. I'll give her £1 per length" He thought it might cost him a pound....she did 25 lengths!!!!
Tell your daughter if she was my granddaughter I'd be telling everyone how well she'd done.

tealjourneys · 11/10/2020 11:10

Well done to your DD, she should be very proud of herself!

WorraLiberty · 11/10/2020 11:13

Congratulations to your daughter, OP.

A massive achievement for a 9 year old! And even more so with the big break during lockdown Star 🏆🏅

Storyoftonight · 11/10/2020 11:19

Massive congratulations !!!! You must be so proud of her.

ODFOD to the posters and their faux confusion at what money is for and why OP name changed (which no one has to explain ). And the one I won't even dignify other than to say I hope your boat sinks .

BlackSwan · 11/10/2020 11:21

Amazing achievement. Fantastic! Of course you're proud.

Floatyboat you're fantastic bitch really - that's your only achievement.

girlywhirly · 11/10/2020 11:23

What a selfless and generous hearted young girl, she deserves her success and your pride in her OP.

Clairelacey9110 · 11/10/2020 11:26

I didnt even realise you could tell I name changed I shouldn't need to disclose why but I changed name to more realistic name as if someone knows me they know that is is me. And my daughter And that from my last thread about this it might link up.
Anyway we are of for a trip to the shops as she deserves it. Toys toys toys

@Clairelacey9110

Well done, Little Penguin👍

oakleaffy · 11/10/2020 11:32

@Floatyboat
If you feel so threatened by a little girl's activities that you need to try and belittle her achievements, maybe look into why you have this unpleasant trait?

Hope to goodness you never have to teach children {or adults}.

Sly digs are unproductive and just reflect badly on you.

DeriArms · 11/10/2020 11:35

Aww, what a fantastic achievement and such determination and generosity, no wonder you are so proud OP x

Dancingwithdaftness · 11/10/2020 11:35

I've just calculated what I used to swim (not that I'd be able to keep going for 80 mins). I used to do 10 lengths in 20-22 minutes. I couldn't bear the boredom or the strain for any longer. So it would take me 200 minutes if my maths is correct to swim 100 lengths. That said, I'm old, I've asthma and I'm generally not fit. So little 'breaks' were taken in between. For a 9 year old to do that having been out of training for 6 months is actually very blooming fast in my book. Anyway, never mind. She's a child to be proud of and that's the main thing.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/10/2020 11:40

Congrats to your daughter, Clairelacey9110, that's a great achievement. I love to swim too but am not very good. Have a great day at the shops. Grin

The piling on is as per, isn't it. Poster says something unkind and it's not enough that one or two pull them up on it, the sheep rush on to do it too and up the ante. Most of the thread is full of bile instead of the one blip. Slow handclap for you...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/10/2020 11:42

Dancingwithdaftness, I have a waterproof MP3 and it's a great cure for boredom when swimming, the time passes much more quickly and makes the exercise enjoyable. Highly recommend getting one.

toffeekiwi · 11/10/2020 12:07

[quote EwwSprouts]**@Floatyboat I hope your boat of bitterness sinks in shark infested waters.

thank you Grin

OP, your daughter is brilliant on several fronts.

First she decided to do something selflessly for someone else. Secondly, she took on a physical challenge but she thought it through and trained for it, prepping thoroughly.
Thirdly, while she was upset at the setback lockdown presented, she carried on to make sure she could do it as soon as she was able.
Fourthly (and perhaps related to the second) That distance is about endurance and stamina. I wouldn't ask a 9 year old to do that, but she could and did.

That's a very mature head on young shoulders and I think she's marvellous. I did 66 lengths once and all but crawled out of the pool. Only did it once.

@Dancingwithdaftness - I found, in my swimming, days that thinking about things that really pissed me off helped. That cow in the supermarket enabled me to do several more lengths than I thought I could Grin

MadameMeursault · 11/10/2020 12:24

Wow that’s amazing, brought a tear to me eye! Well done Little Lacey, you’re awesome.

And actually that’s a pretty good time, especially for someone so small. I used to do a fair amount of swimming and could only manage one length per minute and a maximum of 40 lengths!

Cocolapew · 11/10/2020 12:24

Fantastic StarStar

MadameMeursault · 11/10/2020 12:25

@Floatyboat I hoe your boat is full of floaters!!

RobynTripp · 11/10/2020 12:26

Congratulations to your little girl, that's such an achievement!

MadameMeursault · 11/10/2020 12:27

*hope not hoe!
