Hello everyone.
I tried to find the previous thread on how proud I was of my daughter. But I cant seem to locate it.
Here is a little bit about her she is 9 years old loves to swim, saw that she could raise money to help people that needed help to raise money. She looked into this herself before asking of she could take part so she knew what she was doing and why.
Before lockdown happened she was training her hard to take part in a swimathon she swam and trained so hard well the weekend of the event we all went to lock down she was absolutely devastated. It was postponed until Autumn. She was worried she had worked so hard to raise money cake sales at school, jobs around, once the pools opened back up she wanted to get straight back in the water. I reminded my daughter its ok ill take time 6months no swimming is a big break.
Well yesterday PM she completed her swim she swam 2.5k (100lenghs) in 81mins.
She was so proud! I was so proud! she said it would be something she will never forget. Everyone we have spoken to have said that she is amazing and a star
We knew she would do it but I want to tell as many people as I can im so proud.
Plus she slept very well last night

Ps this is not a asking page this is just so I can shout from the top of the hill....

I remember your previous thread! I'm so pleased for her and you, she's earnt a McDonald's or equivalent and a day on the sofa!

bellmyring · 11/10/2020 13:03

Wow! That's a distance to swim at that age (at any age!). Impressive!

Bluetrews25 · 11/10/2020 13:16

As someone who is an abysmal swimmer with a huge dislike of water, that is AMAZING!!!!!!!
Well done LittleLacey, I could never ever do that, not even if my life depended on it. What a lovely, thoughtful person you are. No wonder Mum is bursting with pride.

That's a long way for a 9 yr old to swim continuously and it's brilliant achievement for her.
I coach that age group so I know the capability of an average club swimmer and she has done well

Glittertwins I agree. I'm built for stamina. Sprinting in any sport is a different skill to long distance. 81 minutes means she is incredibly fit for a 9 year old. Swimming is quite high intensity. So it's not like walking for an hour and 20 minutes. It's more like jogging or running for an hour and 20 minutes. I'm sure she can do a fast length when she wants or needs to.

Op, this is about the dedication your dc had to follow through with this. You're proud and it's not bragging at all. All of their achievements are huge to us. Make sure and tell her grandparents as they'll be proud too.
