Hello everyone.
I tried to find the previous thread on how proud I was of my daughter. But I cant seem to locate it.
Here is a little bit about her she is 9 years old loves to swim, saw that she could raise money to help people that needed help to raise money. She looked into this herself before asking of she could take part so she knew what she was doing and why.
Before lockdown happened she was training her hard to take part in a swimathon she swam and trained so hard well the weekend of the event we all went to lock down she was absolutely devastated. It was postponed until Autumn. She was worried she had worked so hard to raise money cake sales at school, jobs around, once the pools opened back up she wanted to get straight back in the water. I reminded my daughter its ok ill take time 6months no swimming is a big break.
Well yesterday PM she completed her swim she swam 2.5k (100lenghs) in 81mins.
She was so proud! I was so proud! she said it would be something she will never forget. Everyone we have spoken to have said that she is amazing and a star
We knew she would do it but I want to tell as many people as I can im so proud.
Plus she slept very well last night

Ps this is not a asking page this is just so I can shout from the top of the hill....

100 lengths in any time is amazing. A nine year old doing it in 81 minutes is something to celebrate. Congratulations!

@Floatyboat

Well done, 81 minutes may be slow for 2.5k but she got there in the end!
Having a dig at a 9 year old raising money for charity and also held back from Swimming all summer. New low for you or normal behaviour?

What an awesome girl! Huge congratulations to her. You must be just bursting with pride, and rightly so! Star

AuntieLydia · 11/10/2020 09:22

Why do people keep posting the nasty comment?
It's likely to be upsetting for the OP if it keeps being repeated.
Best just to ignore.

Clairelacey9110 · 11/10/2020 09:27

What a fabulous achievement and what determination to hang on to that dream for so long. You are rightly proud 💐

Supertree · 11/10/2020 09:34

Aww, well done to her, what a lovely girl. You must be so proud. I’m 32 and I can’t even swim properly so I’m even more impressed.

Teateaandmoretea · 11/10/2020 09:34

Well done, that is amazingly good after she has spent so long out of the pool. You and her must be really proud. Most people have never, ever swim anywhere near that far.

In relation to this:
Well done, 81 minutes may be slow for 2.5k but she got there in the end!
It really isn’t, she is a 9 year old girl and it’s her first attempt swimming so far you absolute total muppet. She is clearly an amazing swimmer. And I have 2 who are in swimming clubs fwiw.

Rowgtfc72 · 11/10/2020 09:35

Well done! Absolute star Star

Teateaandmoretea · 11/10/2020 09:35

@AuntieLydia I agree in one way, but it’s also wrong, completely which it is important to note.

Walkingthedog46 · 11/10/2020 09:38

And @Floatyboat can piss right off with her sarky, stupid comment.

Etinox · 11/10/2020 09:41

Blimey £700 is a massive amount, fantastic achievement littleLacey!

IsolaPribby · 11/10/2020 09:42

Well done to your daughter, OP!

I am not a brilliant swimmer, and don't really do it anymore, but once did a sponsored swim for Sports Relief. It took me months of training to build up to 100 lengths, and even then it took me longer than your daughter did it in! She has done amazingly well!
