If you need a lighter take on this... here is Michael Spicer's Room Next Door. Grin on the debate.

[quote TheNorthWestPawsage]A sledgehammer and a cattle prod?

The Commission on Presidential Debates says it will add new “tools to maintain order” to the upcoming debates after a chaotic first contest between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

The Trump campaign is already complaining about this but apparently the Commission says is it not negotiable .
Trump hasn't got any choice- if he had kept to the guidelines that HE AGREED TO on tuesday, there would be no need for changes

BruceAndNosh · 01/10/2020 17:08

I have an idea instead of muting the microphones (So no one can complain they are being muzzled)

Each candidate stands on a dias behind a glass lectern.
Every time they interrupt, the height of their dias drops by 10 centimetres.
Repeat interrupting means they slowly sink into the stage.
Trump would have only his head visible after 10 minutes...

This is old news but quietly shocking.

This makes me furious.

so Trump deliberately targeted biden's stutter... that was his game plan...

There was nothing unplanned or spontaneous in the President's strategy. The bastards did not prep him to attack Joe. They prepped him to attack Joe's disability hoping "that by triggering his stuttering they might deceive an audience unfamiliar with the disability

@Roussette

Personally, I wonder if Chris Wallace is going to refuse to moderate the final two debates

Across lucky for him he's not moderating any more. Here's the details and dates...
Hannity and the other one with the stupid face on Fox have no loyalty to Wallace obviously. They allowed some pretty awful discussion about his moderating..

Second Thurs 15th Oct (Steve Scully, C-Span)
Third Thurs 22nd Oct (Kristen Welker, WH correspondent)

Mike Pence and Kamala Harris
Wed. 7th October (USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page)

I read somewhere and I'll link it if I find it, that they're workingit's the on some 'new parameters' for the final two Biden v Trump debates...let's hope it's the soundproof booth!

Hey boatyard nice to see you passing through! I personally feel I'e aged more than 4 years in the last 4 years! Grin

Thanks for the intel.

I bet Chris Wallace is jumping with joy. And sending sympathy cards to the next moderators.

I told DH he was trying to do that, aggravate Joe into stuttering. I really only heard him start to stutter once and he caught himself right away. To me it speaks of Joe's self-control and ability to focus. Fine attributes in a president.

So fuck you Scrotus, you made Joe look even MORE qualified with your little disablist nasty stunt.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time?

Answer...
You didn't win you dufus.
You changed the rules in the first debate by not abiding by them.

Fight back over the food banks letter.

Food banks are removing the signed letter Trump wanted to include in every food-aid box
www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/10/01/food-bank-trump-campaign-literature/

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is removing the letters at distribution sites and asking any of the neighborhood pantries in their network that receive these boxes to do the same, says Keely Hopkins, the food bank’s communications and social media manager.

Catherine Drennan, director of communications and public affairs at the Greater Boston Food Bank, confirmed that these Coronavirus Food Assistance Program emergency food boxes contain a letter signed by Trump.

“It is our understanding that the [U.S. Agriculture Department] is requiring all CFAP-contracted vendors to include this letter in every CFAP food box,” she said. “We’ve made it clear to our partners: We are not placing this letter in the box. We do not endorse any presidential candidate and have no connection to the letter and the inclusion of the letter in these boxes.”

Food banks aren’t the only institutions receiving these boxes. Many schools that serve as distribution points for food assistance will receive these boxes directly.

Voter suppression in plain sight.

Gov. Abbott limits mail ballot drop-off locations, forcing Harris County to close 11 sites
www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/texas/article/Abbott-mail-ballot-drop-off-harris-county-election-15612991.php

Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday declared that counties can designate only one location to collect completed mail ballots from voters, forcing Harris County to abandon 11 sites set up for that purpose.

Abbott’s proclamation also said counties must allow poll watchers to “observe any activity conducted at the early voting clerk’s office” related to the delivery of marked ballots. He said the measure was designed to improve ballot security.

“The state of Texas has a duty to voters to maintain the integrity of our election,” Abbott said in a statement. “These enhanced security protocols will ensure greater transparency and will help stop attempts at illegal voting.”
