Don Jr.'s involvement maybe? Barr won't be hurrying to comply.

NEWS: A federal judge today ordered the DOJ to disclose some redacted parts of the Mueller report.
Judge Reggie Walton said the government must un-redact the parts dealing with deliberations about declining to undertake some prosecutions, @PeteWilliamsNBC reports.

I admit I haven't been following the cases emerging around the Mueller report. Just too much to keep up with at the moment.

A sledgehammer and a cattle prod?

The Commission on Presidential Debates says it will add new “tools to maintain order” to the upcoming debates after a chaotic first contest between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Anniegetyourgun, you can find an account at www.rt.com/usa/500646-biden-videos-flagged-twitter/

I am not at all sure I would take as reliable anything promulgated by RT; Russia seems to have some sort of vested interest in Trump.

Wikipedia seems rather less convinced about her reliability: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden_sexual_assault_allegation#Sexual_assault_allegation

It does seem strange that no lawyer seems to have been interested in representing her until the one who helped some of Weinstein's victims, and he looked into her case and decided after a couple of months not to represent her after all; in my experience so long as there is money in it, there is always a lawyer who will take any case. Especially in the days of #metoo and the possible fame involved in proving something against a public figure.

But I don't think anyone has tried to deny that Trump reckoned it ok to "grab them by the p*ssy" -- hard to do so, really, when there is video of him saying it.

A shy wave to say I am reading the thread again in earnest but don’t have much to contribute. Thanks to those of you who posted live reaction to the debates - it was a good overview first thing this morning. 👍

QAnon think anyone who opposes Trump is a nonce.

PhilSwagielka · 01/10/2020 00:45

@CaveMum

Being as unfamiliar with US politics as I am, are there any young up and coming senators/congressmen/women who look to have a bright future?

Obama was marked out as a future Presidential candidate a good 5/6 years before the rest of the world knew who he was from what I understand.

I did have hopes for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez but she’s turned out to be far too “woke” for my tastes and this will probably be her undoing.

A woman of colour being woke. How awful. Hmm

I told DH that they need to put them both (for fairness) into separate soundproof booths. Read the question to both booths then cut the mic for whomever's turn it isn't. They'd still be able to hear the other candidate's response.

It'd be funnier than hell to see Scrotus angrily mouthing words and waving his hands about whilst Biden is able to answer the question in perfect silence.

Personally, I wonder if Chris Wallace is going to refuse to moderate the final two debates.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/10/2020 00:48

Thanks Roussette and all.

It's happened four times. William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Warren G Harding, and Franklin D Roosevelt all died in office of natural causes.

Not too late for Trump to be the fifth.

TheClaws · 01/10/2020 02:45

Thanks for the new thread, Roussette.

I've seen some Twitter posts about Comey et al. (I believe he's being interviewed by Senate Judiciary Committee today) and Republicans are outraged. I must admit to feeling a bit unsettled - too many norms have already been thrown aside, so what's the harm in another one? I feel the DOJ - headed by Barr - are going to arrest some high-profile people before the election. This would certainly appeal to any of his base that are wobbling a little in devotion - considering he hasn't "Locked anyone up!"

Did you see Trump's tweet denying he had been considering Ivanka for VP? Grin I feel most vindicated Wink

Across I would pay good money to see that!

Across lucky for him he's not moderating any more. Here's the details and dates...
Hannity and the other one with the stupid face on Fox have no loyalty to Wallace obviously. They allowed some pretty awful discussion about his moderating..

Second Thurs 15th Oct (Steve Scully, C-Span)
Third Thurs 22nd Oct (Kristen Welker, WH correspondent)

Mike Pence and Kamala Harris
Wed. 7th October (USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page)

I read somewhere and I'll link it if I find it, that they're workingit's the on some 'new parameters' for the final two Biden v Trump debates...let's hope it's the soundproof booth!

Hey boatyard nice to see you passing through! I personally feel I'e aged more than 4 years in the last 4 years! Grin

I love AOC and she hasn't disappointed so far.
I suspect Kamala will be a good presidential candidate in 4 years, regardless.

Apparently the second debate format is slightly different. Being a town hall

PS - I thought she had withdrawn for her daughter's sake. Hmm

Lweji · 01/10/2020 10:19

I hope this town hall style debate goes better than the last one, and the one in 2016. Trump won't be able to tower over Biden quite so easily Wink and let's hope they are able to enforce distancing.

In other NOT surprising news,

"The study, to be released Thursday, is the first comprehensive examination of coronavirus misinformation in traditional and online media.

“The biggest [NON-]surprise was that the president of the United States was the single largest driver of misinformation around Covid,” said Sarah Evanega, the director of the Cornell Alliance for Science and the study’s lead author. “That’s concerning in that there are real-world dire health implications.”"

PerkingFaintly · 01/10/2020 11:31

Wha...?

Chris Wallace, from NorthWest's link:

But it soon transpired that Trump’s plan was to attempt to steamroller Biden with constant hectoring interruptions.

“I guess I didn’t realise – and there was no way you could, hindsight being 20/20 – that this was going to be the president’s strategy, not just for the beginning of the debate but the entire debate,” Wallace observed.

Er, some of us could have told you this a long time in advance, Chris!

I am boggled that some people are still stuck in the delusion of expecting Trump not to behave like this, when he has a long history of behaving exactly like this.
