And that the animals could also have been subjected to horrific cruelty even if the farm is Red Tractor approved?

I bf my youngest TIL she was 5.

I called it milk, no need for the booby. That’s just weird, in my opinion.

Milk for calves saves many many babies, whose mothers can’t BF.

Milk that is totally artificial like neocate is normally on prescription for specific issues.

Of course formula is needed for many babies but! It's not meant for them it's meant for cows
You kid never had a fun name for something?

Alot of people are allergic to lactose so cows milk formula isn't acceptable there are alternatives but we choose not to use them
We don't need to eat animals or drink their milk but we choose to do it! I don't and I'm happy with that choice I wish more people would be happy to change
Well done for beast feeding to 5 my DD dropped it herself but I was under alot of pressure to drop it earlier like when she was 1

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 09:39

Most lactose free milk is still based on cows milk.

You need neocate or one of the nutramigens from memory to be cows milk free. Unless you’re going with soya milk, but that is similarly not recommended unless for specific reasons.

Of course formula is needed for many babies but! It's not meant for them it's meant for cows Formula is fed to the majority of babies in this country not just 'many' babies.

VelveteenBunni · 30/08/2020 09:53

Literally couldn't care less. It tastes delicious.

40andginger · 30/08/2020 10:13

There are alternatives for cows milk formula and yes there are alternatives for soy based and rice based also as they are not great substitutes

We don't need to use it!

Even if every baby was fed it! Doesn't matter we don't have to use it if we don't want to.

I think the original thread was about poor quality of life and abuse in some (not all) farms/slaughter houses etc so to say you don't care as they taste delicious is a horrible thing to say

If you said I won't give up eating meat as I live it but I thibk the standards are shocking in the evidence you showed us then I would think at least she has some compassion

But it doesn't matter what any of us think

Because obviously some people just don't give a shit

It's changing thankfully! I think in the next 20 years it will be thought of as smoking is now
Hopefully sooner

Just give them as nice a life as you can!

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 10:31

What would you suggest be used instead of formula?

40andginger · 30/08/2020 10:41

A non cows milk formula there are other types of formula

Obviously soy has its issues and rice but every formula is fortified

They could turn anything into a formula

There are so many options

Cows milk formula is the biggest out there because most people drink cows milk

I don't claim to have all the answers! But we do need to reduce our meat consumption I don't use dairy because of the health issues surrounding it

But animal welfare should be a priority! I don't get how people don't care

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 10:44

They can’t turn anything in to a formula. Don’t be silly.

40andginger · 30/08/2020 10:53

If they can make a tiny vitamin contain almost every nutrient you need they could make a cow milk free formula!

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 10:58

Have you tasted a cows milk free formula? Do you have any actual knowledge of it at all?

40andginger · 30/08/2020 11:04

No I have not tried any formula
No I do not have any knowledge of it and have not claimed to!
But there are options out there already!
You are trying to make things difficult!
Stuck in your ways!

I do drink oat milk tho and it tastes better than cows milk
It also doesn't have that awful smell!
And doesn't contain casein

Doccomplaint · 30/08/2020 11:06

I don’t drink cows milk so I’m hardly stuck in any ways regarding that.

40andginger · 30/08/2020 11:23
Hmm
CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/08/2020 12:33

Erm... you need to know how they are made... hint: all vitamin tablets, synthetic or 'natural' use algae and/or yeast cultures; soy beans; wheat germ; fish livers; many vegetables even coal tar (yep, a fossil fuel is used in B vitamins!)

Is that what you want to feed the smallest of humans?

And they rupture the cells to to make the supplements - such cruelty!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/08/2020 12:34

And I am still trying to find the tiny pill that contains every nutrient I will ever need....

Soylent Green anyone?

40andginger · 30/08/2020 13:01

Casein is a carcinogenic is that what your happy to feed babies?

Stop making arguments!
Solutions are what's needed
Even cows milk formula is fortified with vitamins

And I did not say every vitamin I said almost!

Obviously breast milk is the best thing to feed a baby
But some people can't or won't

MitziK · 30/08/2020 13:04

Best make breast feeding illegal then. That contains Casein as well. 10-40% depending upon whether it's at the start of BF or when it is well established.
40andginger · 30/08/2020 13:24

And yet it's still a better alternative than formula! Even with a carcinogenic in it

I would assume it has way less than cows milk tho?
and of course we don't have to be abused and have our kids taken away and possible slaughtered in order to feed someone else's kids

Not always.

It is not always a better alternative than formula. FYI.

40andginger · 30/08/2020 13:31

Well that would depend on the situation I would suppose! But in general a healthy wan should produce healthy breast milk

Cow's milk as straight from the udder, yes. Not with formula. Because they produce it to have the same proportions of whey and casein as breastmilk.

You are Woefully ignorant of all the potential factors that affect breastfeeding.

I would suggest it would be beneficial for you to gain a wider understanding.

All the best.
