@Jaichangecentfoisdenom

I've searched Twitter for 'Trump tells the truth' (that sentence pained me!) and this is all I could come up with.

The T shirt is sort of pink...

Thanks, @Roussette - I think there's a missing link somewhere Grin

Roussette · 20/08/2020 13:46

Asking That's interesting. Although was Obama's speech that big a thing? I know there's coverage etc, but how much? Perhaps Across can answer. Trump did tweet out (in capitals) angrily but he's so wildly off the wall at the moment, I'm hoping your worry won't come to fruition, because he will have moved on to the next slight.

Talking of slights... awful to see the Republican answer to the VP pick.
There are billboards with 'Jo and the Ho' on them. And T shirts. Stocked by Amazon. I've complained to them.

Thanks for the well wishes, North. We're in no danger here but the skies are smoky and my asthma is playing up. Combine with 100+ temps and it's miserable. We're still spending most of our time in our caravan with the AC going. All the conveniences of home and the weekly rental on the gen is less than 3 nights in a decent hotel. I'm saying prayers for our firefighters, some carrying 100 lb in equipment, fighting in steep terrain in these temps. So, say a prayer all or think good thoughts for them

Just a side note: I know the UK (and parts of the US) get lightning storms but I can't tell you how rare 'dry lightning' is in California. The storm we had a few days ago has sparked numerous fires all over the state. I'm sure Scrotus is rubbing his hands in glee, the auld bawbag. Due to Covid our State resources are pretty depleted, but if he's going to deny us the disaster resources we need, we'll just wait until January and ask the new POTUS, Joe Biden.

Obama's speech was the kind of 'lightning' we love; lightning in a bottle. And for a former POTUS to call out the current POTUS in such plain language is unprecedented. It shows how deeply concerned Barack and Michelle really are. Kamala's speech was full of hope and optimism that we WILL recover from this 4 year disaster.

Tonight will be just as magical, culminating in Joe's formal acceptance speech.

I'm finding my sense of optimism again.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 13:54

Rousettte

X posted with your question, but the answer is in my post.

Obama's direct calling out of Scrotus by name is absolutely unprecedented. His speech is ALL over the media this morning.

lionheart · 20/08/2020 13:55

I looked at 'female Trump supporters'. More pain. Grin

Trump has been tweeting an awful lot.

He hates it when the spotlight is elsewhere.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 14:07

Asking Honestly, I don't think Obama's speech is going to push many (if any) undecided Repugs into voting for Scrotus. The majority of undecideds are undecided for valid political and/or ethical reasons, not 'personality' issues.

Hillary's use of 'basket of deplorable' was turned on her by the Scrotus campaign as the Dem candidate having 'insulted good honest Americans'. Obama's speech didn't contain anything I could see that could be twisted that way, in fact he appealed to ALL Americans as decent, caring, hard working people who love and want the best for our Country. Plus Obama is NOT the candidate so it'll be harder to 'tar' Biden with Obama's words. I'm sure they'll try.

Roussette · 20/08/2020 14:11

Thanks Across it's hard to gauge from over here!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/08/2020 14:24

I hope you are right, Across.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 14:48

Thanks Asking, I'm doing well. We're supposed to have cooler temps today which will be nice, even if it is too smoky to sit outside!

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 14:49

Ha! Asking I misread your post.

I hope I'm right too. We'll know in 74 days. Well, actually probably more like 75-76 to get everything counted.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/08/2020 14:56

Well, I meant to put both, and then got a senior moment and thought "Why am I saying the same thing twice?" and deleted one of it -- the one with the "al" in it!

I am not going to hold it as a win for the right side until 20th January, 2021.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/08/2020 14:57

I am glad you are doing well, anyway.

Roussette · 20/08/2020 15:15

I cannot believe it's 75 days or thereabouts. Well, I can believe it, it's seemed like a lifetime but I want to go back to the days when politics (both here and US) are just tooooooo boring to bother about.

This Wall fraud... was this when there was a fund raiser for the public to donate to the Wall?
If so, that's appalling. Excellent news and Bannon.

Across I hope the temperatures stay down for you, it sounds worrying.

OP posts:
Roussette · 20/08/2020 15:15

Excellent news ON Bannon

OP posts:
Roussette · 20/08/2020 15:32

So we have Bannon arrested and we have this...

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 16:13

Re the dismissal of the financial records lawsuit. I keep picturing Mr Burns from the Simpsons fingers steepled saying "Excellent!".

So, this case has already been to SCOTUS and they ruled that a POTUS does not have 'absolute immunity' but they didn't rule on the validity of the subpoena itself.. So they sent it back to the lower courts for POTUS to continue to fight the subpoena on other grounds. This case could drag on for years.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2020 16:14

OMG that list of speakers!!!

Makes me wonder.....were they not able to get any GOP politicians to speak?

Roussette · 20/08/2020 16:16

I have checked and re-checked where I can and it does seem kosher. If I read otherwise, I'll correct it, but many sources are saying they're the Speakers!
Oh ... forgot... Diamond and Silk too (or Polyster and Diamonique as they're also known Grin)
