Thanks for the well wishes, North. We're in no danger here but the skies are smoky and my asthma is playing up. Combine with 100+ temps and it's miserable. We're still spending most of our time in our caravan with the AC going. All the conveniences of home and the weekly rental on the gen is less than 3 nights in a decent hotel. I'm saying prayers for our firefighters, some carrying 100 lb in equipment, fighting in steep terrain in these temps. So, say a prayer all or think good thoughts for them
Just a side note: I know the UK (and parts of the US) get lightning storms but I can't tell you how rare 'dry lightning' is in California. The storm we had a few days ago has sparked numerous fires all over the state. I'm sure Scrotus is rubbing his hands in glee, the auld bawbag. Due to Covid our State resources are pretty depleted, but if he's going to deny us the disaster resources we need, we'll just wait until January and ask the new POTUS, Joe Biden.
Obama's speech was the kind of 'lightning' we love; lightning in a bottle. And for a former POTUS to call out the current POTUS in such plain language is unprecedented. It shows how deeply concerned Barack and Michelle really are. Kamala's speech was full of hope and optimism that we WILL recover from this 4 year disaster.
Tonight will be just as magical, culminating in Joe's formal acceptance speech.
I'm finding my sense of optimism again.
