DH and I had tears in our eyes last night watching the formal nomination of Biden/Harris. We can't wait for November.

I know there are going to be lawsuits, blustering, and accusations. But in the end I have to believe that truth and justice will prevail.

Tonight is going to have some AMAZING speakers!!! Eliz Warren, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Gabby Giffords, and Barack Obama.

Tomorrows speakers include Cory Booker, Pete Buttigeig, Gavin Newsom, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Tammy Duckworth, and of course our next POTUS Joe Biden.

76 Days and counting.

Don't mention Hoffa or the mob... I spent 3.5 hours of lockdown watching Bob De Niro in The Irishman... wonder if Trump needs his house painted?

Meanwhile, Trump takes a workplace ban on all political slogans on clothing as a personal attack:

That is beautiful!

Now on top of everything else there are wildfires spreading once again in California.
Given we now know that Trump tried to block aid to CA last time because they didn't vote for him I don't expect he will be rushing in with kind words and deeds this time either.
Hope you and yours are safe Across

CA has experienced 10,849 lightning strikes in the last 72 hours and WORLD RECORD heat temperatures.
We’re currently battling 367 known fires.
Grateful for our firefighters, first responders, and everyone on the frontlines protecting Californians during this time.

Surprised Trump isn't sending his anonymous enforcement officers over to the WestCoast to help out by chucking gasoline on the flames

lionheart · 20/08/2020 02:02

I suppose they didn't take Trump's advice on the West coast.

Leaves must be swept.

Roussette · 20/08/2020 08:09

So Trump's bestie is at it again.

"Prominent Vladimir Putin foe Alexei Navalny was rushed to hospital with “poisoning” after his plane made an emergency landing due to a sudden acute illness.

A video shows the lawyer and anti-corruption campaigner being stretchered from the aircraft to a waiting ambulance in the Siberian city of Omsk on Thursday.

He was unconscious, according to his press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, who suspects poison was added to his tea."

Trump and Putin.

Trump told Putin 'I'm a big fan of yours' and asked him to be the guest of honor at a Miss Universe pageant, in a series of fawning letters.

And then there's Obama.

Watching President Obama's latest speech and the various reactions to it, what is finally coming home to me, after many years of incomprehension, is that Trump was elected purely because he is a white man, and he may yet be re-elected by bigots who don't care about their President having education and intelligence, and contributing to the good of the entire country. Oh, and speaking in complete sentences which make sense and are truthful.

Lweji · 20/08/2020 12:14

MOPA
Make Obama President Again

That was a wonderful speech.

I've been thinking that the election is still driven by and around Trump. But Obama manages to make it much more positive and I think that's how Biden needs to go. For the policies, positive policies. Unifying policies.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 20/08/2020 12:22

Could somebody help, please? Yesterday or the day before, I can't remember when, I saw a photo/possibly a video of a white female Trump supporter who I think was wearing a pink t-shirt and white shorts, blonde hair in a bun. If it was a video, I couldn't watch it as the speakers on my laptop are malfunctioning, so there must have been some sort of caption explaining that she was saying that she knew that Trump had pursued bad policies which had killed thousands of her fellow countrymen, lost people their jobs, failed them educationally and in health care, but none of that mattered because "Trump tells the truth." The only truth I presume she can mean is White Supremacy (see my earlier post of today). I don't think I found the link to it here, and I'm wondering if anyone else had seen it or whether I just had a dream?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/08/2020 12:50

When I heard Obama, yes, inspirational; but I have a worry.

Obama has (done as Trumps has for four years) broken with long-standing tradition and precedent, and publicly called out the current president, his successor, as a liar and a menace to the country. This is going to underline, for Trump's supporters, that Obama breaks the rules and is a Bad Man.

What worries me is that some undecided Republicans, who may well have been thinking they simply can't bring themselves to vote for Trump this time, may be pushed into thinking that the Democrats are just as bad, breaking the rules like this, and that they might vote for Trump after all because he is being attacked in this underhanded way.

I fear desperately that it may be a "basket of deplorables" moment. If the Trumpist media play it that way, it could be made very bad for Biden's chances. I hope they won't, but deeply fear they will.
