So he was first ignorant and then stupid -- but I don't think getting someone's name wrong is racist. There are things which are, but that is not one of them.
I think it is if one persists in mispronouncing a name not common in one's culture after being given the correct pronunciation (as Fucker was). But IMHO the real issue is that I doubt very much that Fucker would continue to mispronounce a man's name. He certainly never had a problem with the correct pronunciation of 'Barack'. I don't recall him ever pronouncing it 'Barrack' (as is where soldiers sleep) or 'Burruck' or 'whatever'. I find it hard to believe that hedidn't know how to pronounce Kamala. Her name, pronounced correctly, has been all over the media (including Fox) for the last 10 months (or whenever she announced her candidacy). Regardless of pronunciations, he has shown himself on air as a racist and a misogynist. How much of it is to keep his job or pander to his fans, who knows? I don't think he has a lot of journalistic integrity. Chances are if someone offered him double the salary to work at MSNBC he'd jump at it and espouse the liberal creed as if he invented it.
In my former career I dealt daily with clients of many nationalities. If I was unsure of how to pronounce their names I would either seek out a coworker familiar with the language and ask them or I would do my best and then ask the client "Did I get that right?".
