(LIGHT HEARTED)

Just that really.

I think my favourite was fairly recently - CV related and one of the first responses to was “You dh is literally trying to kill you” (along the lines of not wearing a mask in the shops).

OP posts:

My favourite response on the loving pets less after you have kids thread is the person who said "even if you do love your dog less, why would you announce it?" As if the dog might read mumsnet and get upset.

2020in2020 · 04/07/2020 08:37

In my personal experience;

Posted about being diagnosed with depression and anxiety after DH who already had these noticed the symptoms and took me to the doctors. Mentioned we had a DD.

First response was “I feel so sorry for your daughter having to grow up with two parents with mental health issues, her life will be so difficult”

More recently posted on a thread about having to answer security questions on the phone to banks (I work for a bank so was explaining why call centre people have to do it and giving clever dick answers doesn’t really get you anywhere) someone disagreed with me, fair enough.

She was so annoyed she followed me onto my thread about wanting to leave my borderline alcoholic husband and said I had clearly driven him to drinking by having an affair with the work colleague who was supporting me through it. Because I told her why she had to give her date of birth on phone calls!

There is a good one at the moment about Homes Under the Hammer and someone owning 700 properties. The immediate leap to evil landlords and the greed of people who invest in property was amazing. How dare they have more than one home. How dare they even think of their own home going up in value. The sheer greed of such people. It is the class war under another guise because, of course, many of the people who go to property auctions and buy houses in this way are builders, electricians etc who can do a lot of the work themselves. They are providing homes for others and work for people who are able to do the jobs they can't do themselves.I must admit my favourite is when they buy a home to live in themselves but l cannot get worked up about people investing in property. They are trying to make a better life for themselves just like everyone else.

Yeah, I dont get this either. They bought a house legally and then sold it for a profit. So fcking what? it happens all the time. Where is the rage for companies such as amazon who pay minimal tax and yet are rolling in profits? If they had the opportunity to make lots of money I highly doubt they'd step away from it for moral reasons. Always so easy to be pious on someone else's behalf isnt it? Not quite so easy when its you in that situation.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/07/2020 08:43

@Violinist64 the funniest thing on that thread is that apparently they actually do NOT own 700 properties. They refurbish shit properties, rent them and sell them. So them evil bastards are actually bringing some properties back to proper use😂
How daaare they. I am on it really just for a laugh

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/07/2020 08:45

Some people in there are waving that hammer and sickle with all energy they have🤦

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 04/07/2020 08:47

I thought owning 700 properties sounded a tad far fetched!
Exactly- Its GOOD they are making run down houses habitable- yeah, far better to leave them empty and rotting lol

pictish · 04/07/2020 08:48

derxa think the term ‘baby cows’ was intended to be descriptive. As in, their milk is meant for their babies not ours. I’m sure the poster knows they are called calves.

These are usually not even properties first time buyer would buy because of mortgage issues and costs. Rot seems preferable to landlords. And op knrw what she is doing when she wrote that post... Mindboggling.

I have to say that for a site where incredible number of people claim to make 100k+ there is incredibly poor reading comprehension, understanding of simple economics and so much hate towards anyone who has more. It's almost as if people were actually making their wages up because they want to pretend they are better, but then lose it when someone actually better off is discussed. Just saying Halo

derxa · 04/07/2020 08:55

Anyway my responses will now be deemed OTT. I'll slink away now.

Quite

Thank you

I think you hit the nail on the head there! 🤔

Thread in which OP was concerned about her young niece possibly having a learning difficulty and she was worried her sister (niece's mum) was in denial about it. She posted a sample of her niece's handwriting. It looked as if it had been written by a 4 year old and OP's DN was 10/11 so very clearly a problem.

Responses condemned the OP and told her she should mind her own business, stop interfering, 'support' her sister by not bringing up the subject ever again and stop shaming her nieceConfused Thankfully a few sane people posted with good advice.

FreddoFrogAddict · 04/07/2020 09:33

Recent thread, a new mum, sad that her own mother hadn't got her a card or a gift for the baby. She had lots of "you sound grabby" responses and a few posters claiming they weren't aware buying gifts or sending cards for new babies "was a thing"!?

BalloonSlayer · 04/07/2020 09:46

I also remember someone who was upset that not many people (including her DH) had acknowledged her birthday.

A poster said YABU and ridiculous as she personally as an adult couldn't even remember when her birthday was and really struggled when asked what her DoB wa because it was just so unimportant to her.

Yeah sure love.

Haha! This is priceless and what utter bollocks 😆

Perhaps she was just very thick!
BlingLoving · 04/07/2020 09:49

@BalloonSlayer what always annoys me about threads like that is that quite possibly, birthdays really aren't important to that poster. But how dense do you have to be to miss that the other few billion people on the plant DO consider birthdays important?

It's that attitude of, "well, I do things differently to everyone else so you are an idiot for feeling the way most people would feel"

Annoys me so much.

BalloonSlayer · 04/07/2020 09:57

Oh and not a response but a thread but still worth a mention.

OP lambasting Mumsnetters for using the word "fags" to mean cigarettes. It's homophobic and we must cease and desist immediately.

Lots of poster explaining that the slang term for cigarettes predates the homophobic slur, and because of this that particular homophobic slur isn't really used in the UK (regrettably there are plenty of home grown ones).

They wouldn't have it, and it was eventually suggested that they might want to stick to US parenting websites instead of coming to a British one and telling us we are not allowed to talk like British people.

They still wouldn't give in and IIRC there were a few posts along the lines of "Came in from work completely fagged out, used some faggots to light the fire, which was a bit of a fag to be honest, had Mr Brains' faggots for tea then went out the back for a fag"

RyanBergarasTeeth · 04/07/2020 10:04

The ones where someone needs help financially or with work and posters pile on to tell them their life is shit and they personally have their own home and £40,000 saved in the bank and thats too low for them and their £70,000 a year income is worryingly small. I once years ago posted a thread about needing a job (haha im back again for that one). And people crammed on to repeatedly tell me my writing on mumsnet was shit so i would never get a job and i was lying about having a degree because you could tell by my writing that i am uneducated. Was one of my first forays into mumsnet and i was taken aback by the rudeness.

MinesaPinot · 04/07/2020 10:07

Anyone who replies that they are 'literally shaking and economy's over the most minor thing.

How do these people function IRL.

And don't get me started on the hysterical Covid Stasi responses to anyone who might have gone against their largely made up rules.

Wow. That must be awkward when she needs to phone the bank then.
MinesaPinot · 04/07/2020 10:11

economy's?? Where the hell did that come from??? I meant sobbing!

The fact that my tablet has some weird predictive text obviously means I am either depressed, in an abusive relationship and should LTB, or I don't care that people are DYING Wink

There was a post once about a woman who had an argument with her husband and shoved past him to walk away. Someone told her she needed to call the police and hand herself in then call ss because she was unfit to have children.
