Tying myself up in knots reading and comparing reviews.
Shark? Miele?
Short white dog hairs everywhere on a dark coloured carpet!
My trusty Hetty just isn’t effective - help please!

For anyone that is 'sold' into buying one because of @Snooks1971 post here, if you decide to order from Very and don't already have an account at all, asks Snooks to reccomend you as a friend, You'll both get £20 credit

Snooks1971 · 13/06/2020 11:31

@DimplesToadfoot, ah I didn’t know that but I would be willing to do it. Would the new account person still get their 10% off, I guess they would...

I have absolutely no idea ... I didn't read the small print as my dog was sat on my glasses lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/06/2020 23:45

Today (out of boredom) I vacuumed the hall/stairs/landing .
Used my Brush Buddy along the edges first (I'm sure the cats tuck their fur right into the corners just to give me more work)

Shark Rocket (utter pain in the bum) .
It rattled with grit when I upturned the end to cut DD hair off the roller .
It spat bits of grit out as I carried it up the stairs.

I am eargerly awaiting the Halo Capsual

chocolatespiders · 14/06/2020 10:16

I am loving my new shark. My girls are happy it is quieter than my sebo as I have a quick hoover before I go to work and they are still in bed!
Love the powered lift away for the stairs and the collection bin filled pretty quickly with cat hair!

Now just to decide what to do with my sebo. Freecyle or gumtree.

I got a Henry pet. Although I don’t have pets now I went for this as I believe Henry is reliable and lasts for years?

Unforgettablefire · 14/06/2020 10:35

Sorry forgot to add it’s fantastic I wish I’d got one sooner. A huge wool rug I was ready to throw out has came up looking lovely.

userxx · 15/06/2020 14:38

I believe Henry is reliable and lasts for years?

Too many blood years, I'm willing hetty to die so I can justify buying a shark. 10 years she's been going strong for, still as healthy now as the day i bought her. Damn.

EmeliaLily · 15/06/2020 14:39

shark duo!

sunshinesupermum · 15/06/2020 16:45

Henry IS reliable and does a good job but he's heavy to move around than the Hoover I've just bought. Also wondering who to give Henry to?

sunshinesupermum · 15/06/2020 16:46

Unforgettablefire I had no idea Henry was also a 'pet'!

thefourgp · 15/06/2020 21:40

@Snooks1971 OMG! I got it today and what a difference. It picks up my long haired cat’s mass of hair so much easier and faster. It’s fair to say this will change my life. I used to dread hoovering because it took so long to scrape the hair off the carpet. I’m so pleased you started this thread. Thanks for the recommendation. Grin

Snooks1971 · 16/06/2020 12:46

@thefourgp ha! Brilliant! It’s really good isn’t it? I can’t take any credit though, it was the pp who recommended and I kind of ordered mine by accident on Very!
@userxx and @sunshinesupermum, yes Henry & Hetty never die. My Hetty still works but doesn’t pick up the dog hair without a lot of effort. I don’t know what to do with her now though... might donate her to our small office because our work hoover is crap (v small business and we don’t have a cleaner).
@70isaLimitNotaTarget never heard of the Halo Capsule, googled and reviews look good though! Welcome to the saddo hoover bench Grin
@chocolatespiders glad you are happy with your Shark too! [grinning hoover emoji]

You bloody genius!!!! I know exactly where my hetty is now going and I'll have the pleasure of her at work :)

Snooks1971 · 16/06/2020 16:07

Lol at our Hetties ‘retiring’ to work!

abitoflight · 16/06/2020 16:19

I'm so pleased as I've found them brilliant too. So much better than dyson cordless
I've got pet hair attachment that's great for the stairs and yes I agree - they pick up so much 'old' dust😳

Unforgettablefire · 17/06/2020 20:03

@sunshinesupermum

Unforgettablefire I had no idea Henry was also a 'pet'!
It’s one of the newer models I think? It has an attachment like a beater brush but I just use the ordinary attachment really. And has a filter that’s like a drum I don’t know if the other Henry has.

I’ve heard from so many people they last practically a lifetime and can take loads of abuse and it’s the reason builders use them, I’ve seen them in factories, hospitals, gyms and pubs and some of them look ancient!
I don’t work for them honest!
Snooks1971 · 17/06/2020 20:53

@Unforgettablefire totally true! I had to hoover some grit up today down our side passage and didn’t want to sully the Shark so dragged Hetty out of her retirement, god bless her.

OP posts:
Unforgettablefire · 17/06/2020 21:38

Oh god grit maybe that’s what killed my cheaper hoovers! 🙄 I have an outhouse that’s got loads of loose grit I’m always hoovering it.

Snooks1971 · 17/06/2020 22:03

Bloody hell @MoganKitten that Vax looks like an absolute bargain! Shock

OP posts:
MorganKitten · 17/06/2020 23:54

@Snooks1971 I love it, I attack the giant scratch post bed thing they have and it makes it look new.
If mine dies I’m getting a second. And super easy to empty.

MorganKitten · 17/06/2020 23:56

@Snooks1971 oh we use the wood cat litter and it pick up easy, I’ve used the white grit stuff a few times but the cats hate it so switched back... it picks up both fine

userxx · 18/06/2020 13:54

@MorganKitten That looks really good! Does it have adjustable suction ?
