You're white you haven't experienced racism 2 *title amended by MNHQ at OP's request*

I started a thread in the early hours.

I fell asleep Blush
I've checked the thread and it's full.

Whilst the thread sadly proves my OP, there were a lot of great posts and understanding by some MNers.

I think this discussion is so important and I'd like to continue.

These photos sum up the ridiculous responses.

Do not tell me I am doing my oppressed race a disservice
Your racial prejudice faced as a white person do not trump the daily racism and fear for our lives

Finally, if your response to this is to explain your tiny grievances of racial prejudices you've faced then you are wholly part of the problem.

The racist behaviours and thoughts by your people is the problem. It is your duty to understand and tackle it. I repeat, it is not the duty of black people to educate you.

@packetandtripe this is my post you have responded to. I've already responded to someone re this post and Ireland. I said yes, it does apply, and there are no words to explain the horror. If you have been through it as Irish then you know how horrific it is and thus would feel enormous empathy for black people right now. Can you please comment on George Floyd?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 05/06/2020 00:56

Because you told me it's my duty to fight racism. I agree it is. It's also the duty of every citizen to fight all injustices and inequalities.in society.

creativecringe · 05/06/2020 00:57

Secondly, only you as a person can decide to change. I think that is what people mean. You have to decide to acquire your own material and make an informed decision. I could through the wikipedia, encyclopedia and all the edias at you and you end up down the penis beaker warm hole instead.

Lastly, any loving human being who treats people equally with respect and compassion will not judge using skin colour. Once you are no longer placing value on skin colour/hair you are not a racist.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 00:58

Excellently put. I've read both threads in horror at the sheer vitriol & aggression, as well as sheer lack of logic expressed by the OP.*

Thank you. I've been so aggressive yet you're the one personally insulting me.

@EarringsandLipstick Excellently put. I've read both threads in horror at the sheer vitriol & aggression, as well as sheer lack of logic expressed by the OP. Funny, I reserve my horror for the vitriol, aggression and lack of logic of police killing unarmed white people and the fear black people live in every single day during their oppression by white people as a class. Perhaps your horror is misdirected. Anything to say about George Floyd, systemic racism, or anything actually relevant?

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 00:58

Because you told me it's my duty to fight racism. I agree it is.
Good.
It's also the duty of every citizen to fight all injustices and inequalities.in society.
Thread isn't about sexism or disablism.

OP posts:
EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 00:59

This is a prime example of OP's lack of logic & refusal to actually read what other people have written.

PP
And I try my best every day. I assume you too are also.doing everything you can do to challenge inequality in society, fighting for disability rights, for women's rights, to end poverty because as a citizen that's your duty.

OP's demonstration of refusal to read or consider another's point-of-view
Your posts are becoming more ridiculous. Stop turning this around on black people.
It isn't my duty to fight racism

PP talked about challenging inequality in society...disability rights...women's rights...end poverty and you, OP, refuse to address these points and talk only of racism - and how you've no duty in that regard, either.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 05/06/2020 01:01

Oh I see. So I just have to do what you tell me to do? No one else in society who is suffering matters then?

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 01:01

and you, OP, refuse to address these points and talk only of racism - and how you've no duty in that regard, either.

Because the thread is about racism GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
Why would I engage in conversation about sexism and disablism in a thread about racism?

Not in this thread. Not in the fight for Black Lives Matter.

How to put this politely. I don't give a shit if you question my motives. I don't give two fucks what you're thinking.

I have no idea why MN is allowing you to verbally abuse people on here! And guess what if this is your attitude towards others then no one should give two fucks what your thinking either.

NotNowPlzz · 05/06/2020 01:02

@Hearhoovesthinkzebras we are talking about black people right now. You are doing the classic crashing the breast cancer event to say WHAT ABOUT BOWEL CANCER?!?!

And I repeat, anything to say about George Floyd? Anything to say about systemic racism? Anything at all?

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 05/06/2020 01:04

@PatricksRum

Why would I engage in conversation about sexism and disablism in a thread about racism?

Because decent people fight for the rights of everyone discriminated against in society.
PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 01:04

Haha. Swearing alone isn't abuse. I haven't called anyone a fucking something. I haven't called anyone names. I haven't abused anyone.

OP posts:
PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 01:05

Correct.
When I comment on a thread about sexism and disablism feel free to ask me if I fight against it.

It is your duty to understand that you are hurting another human being systematically, physically and mentally. Why would you want to continue? Wouldn't stand back and self analyse. If its everywhere, why are you not able to see it? We can't tell you that. We dont know how you see things. All we know is that you just doing it. You follow the system that helps you why it trumps on another person. Why is it ok for the other person to be trumped on inorder for your space not to be ruffled?

EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 01:07

I've been so aggressive yet you're the one personally insulting me.

How am I personally insulting you? I'm describing what you have done.

Everyone who raises a point that you don't agree with, or isn't fully supporting your point of view, you mock, deride, and use abusive language too.

It's shocking & saddening to me that you've used horrific & tragic events as a platform to attack, roundly, entire communities, sneer at other lived experiences and shown such a lack of compassion for others.

Rightly standing up against racism, and calling out the outrage that it is, does not entitle you (or anyone else, of course) to be hurtful and nasty to others.

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking Which thread was it? I don't remember your username.

Thank you! Fight the fight!

@EarringsandLipstick you're fighting the wrong fight

EarringsandLipstick · 05/06/2020 01:11

@NotNowPlzz

Yes. I do. But this thread is not about that, as OP has made it other. Shouting & nastily attacking any view that doesn't completely accord with hers.

I can feel outraged and saddened by the events in the States. It doesn't stop me calling out the - yes - vitriol the OP has demonstrated.

A PP wrote movingly and sadly about her experiences in her words of being 'fat and disabled'. OP's response was just horrible.

You can care about more than one lived experience.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 01:11

How am I personally insulting you? I'm describing what you have done.
Calling someone abusive isn't a description its name calling.
Instead of saying you're abusive try saying you have been abusive.*

Everyone who raises a point that you don't agree with, or isn't fully supporting your point of view, you mock, deride, and use abusive language too.*
I haven't mocked anyone. Show me where I've mocked someone.*

It's shocking & saddening to me that you've used horrific & tragic events as a platform to attack, roundly, entire communities, sneer at other lived experiences and shown such a lack of compassion for others.*
I havent used the event to attack anyone but racists. *

Rightly standing up against racism, and calling out the outrage that it is, does not entitle you (or anyone else, of course) to be hurtful and nasty to others.*
I'm not being nasty to anyone.
Hurtful? Perhaps. I'm responsible for what I say not for how you react to it.

Have you been on MN, or part of democracy, for long?

YOU don't get to tell posters what the thread is about and what they can post!

Thank you. I've been so aggressive yet you're the one personally insulting me.

So this wasn’t at all aggressive?

How to put this politely. I don't give a shit if you question my motives. I don't give two fucks what you're thinking. It isn't about you. Hth

@EarringsandLipstick is not fighting the wrong fight at all.

PatricksRum · 05/06/2020 01:13

Show me.
You're talking out of your arse. I haven't responded to a post about someone being fat and disabled. If I did, I would have likely said I'm sorry for your experiences but this thread isn't about that.
I'm disabled myself.
You're lying rn.
