Interested in how many peoples views on lockdown have changed. I know mine have and that of most of my family and friends.

YABU - nope, still resolutely sticking to the rules
YANBU - fuck it, if it’s ok for him to tour the country with a car full of coronavirus then I can go visit my mum?

Due to circumstances I can’t actually go visit my mum. But after this, if I could be doing then I would be doing.

I have just voted @FancyARoot.
It is 52/48 , the same as the Brexit numbers 😂
I am in Scotland anyway and our “rules” are different. Our CMO did resign .
“Paid poster “ was a reference to a completely different point of view to most of the others on the thread . It was not a reference to political allegiances.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/05/2020 08:53

@OhTheRoses

Thanks for your post - we need a laugh in these difficult times.

NoHardSell · 25/05/2020 08:56

People being shocked to find that the people who wrote the rules they follow so slavishly are not following them in the same, shall we say, spirit makes me laugh, yes. I have been continually amazed by the naivety and stupidity of most people, so this is just one more example. Wow. Shock horror. It's not necessary for everyone to do it - just you lot. Keep it up, you're doing amazing, have a good clap this Thursday.

Tinabn · 25/05/2020 08:58

I don’t want the virus, I don’t want my family to get the virus and I don’t want the death rate to begin to rise again. I’ve just read a tweet about there being two types of leaders, baboons who grab power for what they can get out of it and elephants who lead for the good of the herd. Maybe we should all be elephants.

AnneKipanki · 25/05/2020 08:59

It is so fortunate to have a listening person at the helm . One really can’t survive without one’s housekeeper and butler . I am so thankful the rules were tweaked . Chin chin

Yabu. I'm better than Cummings (admittedly it's a low bar). We're keeping our heads down for some time yet.

NoHardSell · 25/05/2020 09:05

I haven't laughed at the lengths people have gone to, to avoid breaking their version of lockdown. I've been pretty horrified by some actions. No humanity at all. Not comforting the newly bereaved, leaving children inside isolated from all their peers, leaving elderly parents in isolation. Your (as in 'the majority') actions horrify rather than amuse me. We all assess risk differently. But the shock at finding that those at the top do what they want. Yeah. That shock is pretty funny.

Nihiloxica · 25/05/2020 09:09

Me too.

This is exactly how I feel.

Chillipeanuts · 25/05/2020 09:10

“Johnny told me to do it, mummy”
“So if Johnny told you to jump off the roof, you would?”

I really don’t understand why so many people are outraged about someone’s irresponsible, dangerous behaviour and decide to show their disapproval by being equally irresponsible and dangerous?

UnderTheBus · 25/05/2020 09:11

I agree with @NoHardSell
Children being isolated from their friends for months on end will have negative consequences for many. Social interaction is a necessity, not a "nice to have".

Noidea2114 · 25/05/2020 09:11

I can't understand why the press haven't mentioned that not only Dominic Cummings broke the lockdown rules but the labour mp Steven Kinnock went to his parents
for a birthday, labour mp Tahir Ali went to a funeral with over 100 other mourners, the Welsh health minister Vaughan Gething sitting at a picnic table a few weeks ago.
Then just look at the pictures of the press around Dominic Cummings all bunched together.

I don't care which political party people support MPs are all out for themselves, the rules only apply to the common people.

I'm not going to be a pratt and going out, I'm going to stay safe so that you and I can hopefully see are families in the near future.

bulletjournalbilly · 25/05/2020 09:14

@NoHardSell who are you clapping FOR?

They're all back in their normal jobs twiddling their thumbs.

NoHardSell · 25/05/2020 09:15

Oh Jesus I don't do the clapping thing. That's your bread and circuses.

PJsEveryday · 25/05/2020 09:15

@bulletjournalbilly thank you Smile

YinMnBlue · 25/05/2020 09:16

ChilliPeanuts

Yep! Not enough of us have our mother’s voices in our ears “so if Dominic stuck his hand in the fire would you do the same?”

People are not ‘mugs’ for having stayed home and distanced. That is what had brought infection down.

And if we want it to be down enough to safely open schools, universities and workplaces then we need to stop getting pissed at BBQs.

And be mature and responsible.

I completely understand people who do a careful risk assessment on visiting lonely elderly relatives, but not the BBQs.

bulletjournalbilly · 25/05/2020 09:18

@NoHardSell Grin me neither Hahahha

Even my Mum an NHS nurse is like stop fucking clapping you sheeple

PoppinPopcorn · 25/05/2020 09:19

No because I dont need to run to Mommy for every little thing.

And also I'm not close to my parents I dont miss them at all

OhTheRoses · 25/05/2020 09:20

No problem @FamilyOfAliens.

Our road, only 8 houses. 1 hospital consultant, 1 dentist, 1 owner of chain of phamacies. All three households have broken the rules every single weekend. Not once have they clapped. Although neither has the rest of the road as far as I am aware. Those three live closest so I am sure about them.

AnneKipanki · 25/05/2020 09:20

He did not just do it once .

AnneKipanki · 25/05/2020 09:23

The clapping is a distraction.

The lady that came up with the idea wants it to stop and for it to be something more tangible. A wage rise ?
Proper funding?

Coughsyrupsucks · 25/05/2020 09:23

I locked down and pulled my daughter out of school 2 weeks before the government did. Mostly because I thought they were incompetent idiots. Apparently that could have saved 30,000 if they’d done the same.

So I’ll carry on doing my own thing until I think it’s safe for my family. Cummings can do what the fuck he likes, I really couldn’t care less.

FishOnPillows · 25/05/2020 09:33

I was already at the point where I thought continued lockdown at this level was unneeded.
And I desperately want the DC to go to my sister’s a couple of days a week (as does she) so that DP and I can actually work, and for the DC’s (& our’s) mental well-being. Additionally I am struggling with ongoing health issues which leave me incapacitated at times anyway. It was only through fear of breaking the ‘rules’ that we haven’t done this. None of us are remotely high risk for Covid.

But now I know I won’t be fined etc for doing this, we’re going to do it.

FamilyOfAliens · 25/05/2020 09:39

I really don’t understand why so many people are outraged about someone’s irresponsible, dangerous behaviour and decide to show their disapproval by being equally irresponsible and dangerous?

Johnson has told the nation that not only were Cummings’ actions not “irresponsible, dangerous behaviour”, but that he acted responsibly, legally and with integrity.

Now do you understand why people feel ok doing the same?

returnofthecat · 25/05/2020 09:44

My opinion hasn't changed and I'm still staying at home, because my instincts tell me that our PM and his advisors are not role models to follow.

lazylinguist · 25/05/2020 09:48

Now do you understand why people feel ok doing the same?

No. Because anyone with any sense knows that it's a cover-up and that Cummings' actions were not ok. Stopping following the rules because you think they are wrong and unhelpful is one thing. Stopping following the rules because you're pissed off that somebody else got away with doing it is either stupidity or just an excuse to do what you want.
