My vagina stinks

I can't live with it anymore, it smells horrible even 2 minutes after showering. I don't use soap down there and I don't have an STI. I have been treated for thrush and no change.

It's worse in the hot weather but I'm feeling self conscious all the time. I can smell it when I'm sitting down on the sofa. People say it's normal to have an odour but when does it become abnormal?

I can't even describe the smell - it isn't fishy but it's unpleasant Sad

I've alternated between laughing my head off and feeling the urge to vomit reading this thread...

littlerock7 · 12/05/2020 14:27

You probably have BV you can buy the gels to clear this up from boots / any pharmacy or on Amazon. No need to make a doctors appointment for this anymore I’ve had a few times and the gel cream you can buy clear it up within a few days to a week :) Also stop using soap to clean down there x

Pinkblueberry · 12/05/2020 14:29

Do the people who don’t clean their vulva receive oral sex?

I don’t think anyone has said they don’t clean themselves at all Confused some prefer to use just water down there. I use soap on the outside. Honestly though, if you shower everyday then just water will probably do the trick - I mean what kind of grim build up of dirt will you have down there after just one day?? if it’s been a few days for some reason then you probably need some soap.

BubblyBarbara · 12/05/2020 14:30

By the way you can get flavored lubes etc for oral sex for your partner if things are not completely fresh, I don't know what people used to do before those existed though

Quite.

Baskininthegarden · 12/05/2020 14:39

@Pinkblueberry if someone splashed you hand multiple times throughout the day with sweat and urine etc would u just rinse it off with water or would u think to wash it with soap at some point?

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 12/05/2020 14:39

Yes but if plain water isn't getting rid of it effectively every day then it's still going to build up isn't it? I just can't see how you can clean your vulva with just water!

areyoubeingserviced · 12/05/2020 14:43

I feel like having another bath after reading this thread.

MadamShazam · 12/05/2020 14:53

Sorry but i don't understand how you can wash your vulva with just water! I use shower gel, albeit Sanex which is a mild one, to give the outside and my groin a good wash every day, and I have never had any problems.

Pinkblueberry · 12/05/2020 15:02

I don’t think you can compare a hand to a vulva though - if we pissed and sweated from our hands we presumably wouldn’t use them for the things we do, no matter how much we washed them 🤷‍♀️ Besides I said I used soap! If others don’t but feel healthy and clean nonetheless that’s up to them - presumably their not touching everything with their vulvas like they do their hands...

Pinkblueberry · 12/05/2020 15:07

Interestingly though there was a time where I didn’t use soap, when I really needed things to be clean down there - after giving birth and having stitches. We’re not advised to use soap then, quite the opposite - so presumably water does keep you clean?? Clean enough to not get an infection down there - surely that’s as clean as you need! So maybe using soap is just extra clean, rather than an essential?

postordex · 12/05/2020 15:07

I recall a thread about this a while ago, a pp said that the water that runs down from their stomach whilst in the shower is sufficient to clean their genital area. It made me feel queasy and I when see the pp on here which is very regularly and I always shudder

Baskininthegarden · 12/05/2020 15:08

depends if you want sex without making someone else feel Envy whilst doing it I guess.

postordex · 12/05/2020 15:09

Likely, but not clean enough for you not to reek

Pinkblueberry · 12/05/2020 15:14

But surely if it ‘reeks’ it’s dirty enough to cause some problems?

Itstimeslikethesewegiveandgive · 12/05/2020 15:26

When actually it's their moms pubis that's itching
The thread that keeps on giving Grin

DrinkVeneer · 12/05/2020 15:31

I'm going to take a wild guess that people washed themselves, meaty smelling fannies and all.

RonObvious · 12/05/2020 15:40

And absolutely never steam

Who is steaming their genitals?!?

MostTacticalNameChange · 12/05/2020 16:20

I use an Archimedes Screw...vaj, ears, any orifice, really.

wink1970 · 12/05/2020 16:26

Didn't Goop suggest this, alongside a candle that "smells of my vagina"....

rosiepony · 12/05/2020 16:29

If people can’t understand how dirty you can get in one day then I give up.

At least 1 poo near the area and multiple wees. Discharge maybe and sweat. If you are seriously ok with not washing that every day with more than water, then I’m honestly shocked.

I’m going to ask DP about this when he gets home, he’s in his 60’s and had loads of partners over the decades.

Barbie222 · 12/05/2020 16:33

Hope you're getting some antibiotics OP.

I would absolutely not be ok with just a splash of water. Some people can definitely be smelled when they sit down next to you even through their clothes. And definitely when you go into a bathroom after them. We all have different levels of sense of smell, so if you were blissfully unaware until now just know there's a whole world out there you might not have been plugged into!!!

TheTroutofNoCraic · 12/05/2020 16:35

I just use Jeyes fluid and a Brillo pad. Never had any problems.

Mummyshark2019 · 12/05/2020 16:37

You could steam it in the gym stream room but they are all closed now! Just give it a good old rinse with water and soap. Use the shower head and bobs your uncle.

MadamShazam · 12/05/2020 16:43
