AIBU - Neighbour yelling “Ballsack”

Charlbugh · 03/05/2020 18:04

DH and I have lived here for in excess of 10 years. It’s a nice area and we get along with most of our neighbours, or at least the ones in our road that we know.

There is one house two doors down that appears to be rented out as rooms. We don’t tend to see or hear much from them, just occasionally we see a new face going in and out the gate.

We have been at home all day today, as have DD1 and DD2 (as it is the weekend). Every half hour or so, I have heard angry shouting coming from somewhere - I assume from the house with rented rooms. DH has been out to try and work out what is happening, but cannot see anything. Unfortunately our house does not overlook their garden. He says that when he’s outside all he can hear is a male voice shouting what appears to be “ballsack”.

I am concerned for the persons wellbeing, as this is not normal behaviour. DH says to ignore it, I would prefer to call the police and have them look into it as it is not sensible nor appropriate behaviour. AIBU?

....could he have a cat or dog named Balzac?

CanadianJohn · 03/05/2020 18:14

Probably studying French literature, specifically Honoré de Balzac

Charlbugh · 03/05/2020 18:14

I did not think of that, I suppose it could be possible. I will ask DH when he next hears it and try to find out.

It's not Martin from
Friday Night Dinner is it ?

Dreeple · 03/05/2020 18:16

Does studying Balzac involve shouting “Balzac!” out the window?

Hairdowntohisknees · 03/05/2020 18:18

Perhaps he's shouting can I have my BALL BACK

literategiraffe · 03/05/2020 18:18

If you can only hear one voice my money is on someone playing an online console game

CatsGoPurrrr · 03/05/2020 18:18

You don’t live on a street with mainly detached houses, nice gardens and a street Whatsapp group do you, OP?

Theukisgreatt · 03/05/2020 18:18

Please do not bother the police.

DaphneFanshaw · 03/05/2020 18:18
Grin Every half hour or so ? Is there any banging going in too ? Do you think he is try to assemble a flat pack of some description ?

I think I prefer a dog named Balzac idea.

Elouera · 03/05/2020 18:18

They might have tourette syndrome and that word is this weeks tic?

FlamingoAndJohn · 03/05/2020 18:19

We have been at home all day today, as have DD1 and DD2 (as it is the weekend)

You know we are all meant to be home all the time right?

Anyway, I used to have a neighbour who was clearly mentally unstable. She used to stand in her garden and shout all the time.

Elouera · 03/05/2020 18:19

Is it a special needs group house?

Hedgehog44 · 03/05/2020 18:19

Definitely sounds like an angry gamer to me lol

TheySnackin · 03/05/2020 18:20

So you don't know for sure it's coming from this house then?
What do you want to achieve by posting? If you're concerned about the residents go and knock on the door. It doesn't sound like that much a nuisance if you can't even figure out which property it's coming from.

I don't see what difference the fact it's rented makes.

ScarfLadysBag · 03/05/2020 18:20

GrinGrinGrin

Clearly not Scottish as it would be 'bawbag'

Wifeofbikerviking · 03/05/2020 18:21

If it's over and over again...maybe a sufferer of tourette's? It seems a bit odd otherwise to just say ballsack
Or as pp said maybe dogs name

zaphodbeeble · 03/05/2020 18:21

Please done call the police because someone is shouting 'ball sack' Confused, they'll be gaming

Hairdowntohisknees · 03/05/2020 18:21

He's not shouting Big Mac is he?

ScarfLadysBag · 03/05/2020 18:21

Maybe it's Balonz trying to contact his brother Balzac

DaphneFanshaw · 03/05/2020 18:21

Maybe they’re playing a game called ball sack.
It potentially involves hiding from each other (a bit like hide and seek).
When the seeker finds the hider they shout ball sack.

Newjez · 03/05/2020 18:23

Do you have a spare sack, or maybe a large bag?

They might appreciate you dropping it round?

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/05/2020 18:24

Lot of assumptions in your post.

Dobbytheelf · 03/05/2020 18:24

Flamingo you know some people work in supermarkets, GP surgeries, hospitals, drive buses, are teachers, and so on?!

Brogley · 03/05/2020 18:25

I don't see what difference the fact it's rented makes

Not just rented but rented out as rooms.

OP, you don't know it's definitely coming from the rented property but from your descriptions if the place it sounds as if it come be some sort of supported accommodation or transitional accommodation. If the shouting is ballsack and is coming from that property then it could well be someone with a tic or verbal stim.

Either way, its not a police matter.
