Just that really. Either a totally off topic question, a hilarious response or just something that made you laugh.

For me it was someone who had posted about her office chair frequently appearing damp and smelling of pee and someone just responded “woah we’re halfway there”.

@ Thelnebriati

Thank you for that link. I shouldn’t have read it when I was busting for a pee though! 😂😂😂

Drybird2020 · 03/05/2020 14:25

I can't quite remember the details but a poster was lamenting her lack of loo roll during the stockpiling stage of the current crisis, and somebody somehow managed to suggest she might wipe her arse on the cat, if she had one.

Bloodybridget · 03/05/2020 14:26

Ah @Thelnebriati I did read some of the "disappointed with purchase" thread at the time, thanks!

Mkh873w · 03/05/2020 14:27

Long long time ago there was a thread about screen time and kids watching too much telly. Then a poster popped up and said that they knew someone who was allowed to watch The Clangers too much in the 70s and as an adult could only communicate with the use of a swannee whistle.

I weed laughing.

Wouldcouldcantwont · 03/05/2020 14:30

I had to read the hedgehog one out loud to my OH as he wondered why I burst out laughing.

I loved the thread about washing being left on the line overnight, which led to musings about spiders rubbing their willies on the clothing. Had images of spiders gleefully grinding away on the laundry. I howled though at the poster who changed their name to spiderswilliesonyourfrillies.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 03/05/2020 14:32

Oh I like that @Thelnebriati Fat Morticia Adams Grin

This is the UCM one.

To ask- What’s the funniest response you’ve seen to a post on Mumsnet?
YgritteSnow · 03/05/2020 14:36

"Well woof to you lady!" from an OP to a poster who was giving her a hard time Grin. I've used it in RL a few times too.

Hassled · 03/05/2020 14:36

These have made me laugh and brought back memories - thank you!

The UCM one - UCM was then a quite prolific poster, who started a thread saying she'd name changed because she had embarrassing questions to ask - smelly vagina type stuff. Anyway, she had actually failed to name change and the first comment was "is that you, UCM?". She was so mortified that it was painful in a hilarious sort of way.

Hassled · 03/05/2020 14:36

X postGrin

Hunnybears · 03/05/2020 14:41

*Ya minge, ya minge

They'd gone swimming & she was at the side of the pool, but hadn't put on her bikini bottoms, her OH was shouting at her from the pool!*

This has just had me howling!! @IncrediblySadToo

LizzieVereker · 03/05/2020 14:44

There was a thread once where the OP was complaining about her neighbours and it became clear that the OP was a bit of a snob who just couldn’t deal with living near a family whom she considered to be “chavs” (I think she actually used that word). The OP ended up with everyone teasing her about their own “chavvy” (normal) standards, until a poster eventually posted:

It was just so spot on in capturing the exact mood and humour of the thread.

Linnet · 03/05/2020 14:45

The UCM thread was a long time ago and still makes me smile.

UCM started a thread with I’ve changed my name for this...then went on with the thread but the name change didn’t work so of course the first response and the next few were all, is that you UCM? 😂

Linnet · 03/05/2020 14:46

Aww my thread hadn’t updated I see hassled beat me to it 😀

boomchikawowwow · 03/05/2020 14:47

@LizzieVereker 😂😂
These keep getting better!

Arewehere · 03/05/2020 14:49

@LaurieMarlow

I just looked at some of the Balonz thread if its the same one (2014)

Someone put

"Balonz makes me think of a sad clownSad"

Its cracked me up.

MangoHat · 03/05/2020 14:50

Has anyone mentioned the GRAMMER POLICE yet? Grin

DareDevil223 · 03/05/2020 14:52

Not a single response but this is hands down the funniest thread on MN ever read it and weep (with laughter).

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3106919-Anyone-want-to-come-and-mourn-the-reality-vs-expectation-of-new-purchases-with-me

Even now the phrase 'Bloody hell, it's Colonel Gaddafi' pops into my head and makes me giggle.

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 14:53

These are all brilliant - the masochist who should have posted on Aibu is MN gold.

OP posts:
BackseatCookers · 03/05/2020 14:54

The poster who asked a question about a certain pushchair, then responded to herself years down the line with a recommendation; and the following poster who saiid "you do know you've answered your own post, right?" 🤣

This is my all time favourite.

51Pegasusb · 03/05/2020 15:02

Suzi Quattro's fat nan staring back at me in the mirror Grin. - From the reality vs expectation thread.
Kills me still the stuff on that thread.

elQuintoConyo · 03/05/2020 15:08

"Suzi Quattro's fat nan" on the thread about newly purchased clothes. And "emo Tinky Winky" ! They're priceless Grin

elQuintoConyo · 03/05/2020 15:08

sunshineandlollypops · 03/05/2020 15:09

I loved the one where the poster was upset that she had to look at random dad's hairy asses when she sat in the men's change room with her son waiting for his swim lesson. She actually thought that you go to the change room of the sex of the child and not the adult.

MagentaRocks · 03/05/2020 15:10

The pushchair one was posted by someone called Ecco I believe. One of the responses after she had replied to herself was ‘is there an echo in here’
