Just that really. Either a totally off topic question, a hilarious response or just something that made you laugh.

For me it was someone who had posted about her office chair frequently appearing damp and smelling of pee and someone just responded “woah we’re halfway there”.

@TurquoiseDragon - no it’s not - I’ve just posted a link to this thread!! I keep getting the two mixed up! It’s this one -

A poster who said she farted in bed so loudly it woke her husband up, at which point he said “who did that” to which she replied “you did you dirty bastard” causing him to apologise profusely!! Really tickled me Grin

Tyredofallthis1 · 14/02/2021 16:23

This thread has made me realise how long I've been on Mumsnet. I remember far too many of them from when they first posted (there have been namechanges).

Does anyone remember the Christians against Dinosaurs thread? That was so hysterical, but a lot of the pics got pulled which took a lot of the fun out of it.

I still don't understand this, 9 months later.
munchbunch12 · 14/02/2021 16:51

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom Is it a pun on 'Livin on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi? Something like 'Whoa, we're halfway there, whoa pissing on a chair'

Inastatus · 14/02/2021 16:55

@munchbunch12 - yes, that’s what I think too.

Thanks Grin

The one that had me on my knees laughing was the OP complaining about something generic like her husband being useless and being shit at housework and what could she do.
One Serious reply was along the lines of fuck him show him who’s boss ‘hide under the bed and grab his ankles when he walks past’
It still tickles me now.

Soubriquet · 14/02/2021 17:43

This cracked me up the first time I read it

Years ago, a mum and her son had been offered an unexpected lift home by another parent.

Her son had just turned 4 years old. She acquired a car seat which happened to be a group 1 baby car seat (the type you pick up and carry). She then went on to try and strap her 4 year old into the baby car seat.

Well as you can imagine, he wasn't willing to say the least. She eventually got him in, all arms and legs everywhere, only for him to roll the car seat over and attempt to walk with it on his back, while still being strapped into it. It was like watching some sort of giant, robotic, black tortoise.

She was a bizarre one.

We all pipped up and stepped in and he went home in suited sized car seat.

Saying that, this thread had a lot of bizarre and funny things on it link

Following - and laughing…

Prufrocks · 14/02/2021 18:56

This was years ago and so niche, I think it only got a couple of pages of replies or maybe less.

But someone was lamenting their friend’s habit of “eating a whole tub of humourless for breakfast”

Cue lots of general mirth until someone comes along with the predictable “It’s not nice to make fun on people’s typos, grow up!”

And the very next response:
“... sense of hummus failure.”

Tickled me for days.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Love it!
And love this thread - thank you for reviving it -missed it first time round.
These threads are the best thing about MN

nearlynermal · 14/02/2021 19:54

I loved this one a lot

To ask- What’s the funniest response you’ve seen to a post on Mumsnet?
flappityflippers1 · 14/02/2021 19:57

Just the other day I saw a response on a thread that said “that would make my fanny clam up” 😂😂😂 really made me chuckle

dementedma · 14/02/2021 20:00

So many funny threads by the much missed Cat Thief Keith. Used to make me cry with laughter. One where she was shut on a balcony with a scabby cat, another trapped in a tent in the garden

fibeee · 14/02/2021 20:02

On one of the CF threads someone starting talking about their cat flap which made me lol at the time

Stopsnowing · 14/02/2021 22:00

Sometimes I see an interesting thread and go onto post and realise I started it.

Gufo · 14/02/2021 22:09

I'm just thrilled one of my comments got mentioned (under a namechange). Best thing to happen this year Grin

[quote Thelnebriati]The Hugo thread.

Crying reading this!

MusicallyMad · 14/02/2021 22:34

“Urinated on a chair”🤣

But I can’t remember what the poster really meant to say now!

Nunoftheother · 14/02/2021 22:45

Please could someone explain the pampas grass tracksuits for swingers? Thank you. Smile

Also, something else puzzles me. There are a lot of hastily-written posts with very questionable SPAG and so on on MN, yet on certain threads (the expectations vs reality one springs to mind) suddenly everyone turns into Oscar bloody Wilde. How does that work?

My favourite response was something to do with a shopping list and a teaspoon, and the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle. Does anyone remember that?

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 14/02/2021 23:27

There was a thread years ago about what AIBU would be like it if was written by toddlers. It was hilarious.

SlightlyJaded · 14/02/2021 23:45

UCM was my first thought.

And yes to lots of brilliant responses on the 'Cutted Up Pear' thread
and also used to weep at some of the Pedlars threads about fifteen years ago

Cutted up Pear for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure:

Pure nostalgia ....

Meatbadger · 15/02/2021 00:07

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I still laugh regularly at a response on the thread about fancying Bob Dylan.
Someone commented they like submissive skinny guys but that Dylan looks like the sort who’s forever be saying ‘in a minute’ if you asked him for a cup of tea.

@Zaphodsotherhead it was!
