AIBU? Neighbours demanding money for McDonald’s

We live in quite a small but nice street, mainly detached with decent sized gardens. We have a whatsapp group that the whole street is on, barring one family LOL. But we won’t talk about them.

Anyway, DH is the one who reads the group most often and has now got into a massive fight with the neighbours over a group-buy of McDonalds food next week.

I can't see how a small street of neighbours has enough to talk about to warrant a Whatsapp group?? I couldn't think of anything worse.
Do you mainly gossip about the "barred family". After this row, you will now be the barred family.

We have a street WhatsApp too, someone tried to organise a group purchase of garden paint from a wholesaler but there weren't enough takers. No one fell out. The end.

I would love a McDonald's but I don't have detached house, not sure if this rules me in or out. So tricky.
