Are the ultimate, undisputed masters of feel good music? I always seem to turn to them if I need a bit of a boost and they never let me down! DS1 has just declared them to be 'cringey old man pop' and I'm wondering where I went wrong raising him Grin

“In the night” is one of my ultimate go to tunes.
So many memories in that track (and the whole ‘Disco’ album)

isseywith4vampirecats · 27/04/2020 19:51

we saw them at bingley music festival a couple of years ago and they were brilliant I agree with you

Comefromaway · 27/04/2020 19:52

I used to love the Pet Shop Boys. Luckily I have a ds who was "born in the wrong era" and listens to loads of 80's music.

Pelleas · 27/04/2020 19:52

Yes, they're ace.

missyB1 · 27/04/2020 19:52

I had tickets to see them next month but obviously it’s not happening 🙁

missyB1 · 27/04/2020 19:53

Actually the best band we saw live were OMD.

Sparklesocks · 27/04/2020 19:54

I like to blast their version of Always on my Mind when I need a pick me up

HappyHammy · 27/04/2020 19:54

Love them. Have you watched them with Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers at a tv or music award. Cant remember which but its on.YouTube

Mawbags · 27/04/2020 19:54

I fucking love them. Everyone used to laugh at me for loving them but they’re gods

Mawbags · 27/04/2020 19:55

The entire Actually album is their best

HappyHammy · 27/04/2020 19:56

2009 Brit Awards

Comefromaway · 27/04/2020 19:57

My favourite song is It's A Sin. Its brilliant, especially the middle bit.

TheChippendenSpook · 27/04/2020 19:57

They supported Take That a few years ago on their tour and they were absolutely brilliant!

Binterested · 27/04/2020 19:57

West End Girls is one of those songs that I know exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard it. Stopped me in my tracks. It’s the sound of 80s teenagehood Smile

SimonJT · 27/04/2020 19:57

They’re great, I saw them this summer in Hyde Park, they were lovely to my son and had a little dance with him.

Dowser · 27/04/2020 19:58

Love them

BearSoFair · 27/04/2020 20:01

I should have been seeing them next month as well Sad Glad it's been rescheduled rather than cancelled...but a whole extra year to wait!

YANBU, thought they were so cool when I was a young teen, along with Erasure (my 1st gig) and Bronski beat. Takes me back to the Friday night youth club discos Grin

BearSoFair · 27/04/2020 20:04

I love a bit of Erasure too, Vince Clarke is a genius! Yazoo is his finest work though I think

OP posts:
missyB1 · 27/04/2020 20:09

Yeah I liked Erasure but thought Yazoo were better. Loved The Cure and The Smiths too. Happy times.

MaMaLa321 · 27/04/2020 20:10

They're great - West End Girls is absolutely timeless. My favourite is Se a Vida E. Beautiful.

Redannie118 · 27/04/2020 20:12

I bloody love them. Love that he covered The Streets have no name with a disco mashup of cant take my eyes of you just because Neil Tennant couldnt stand Bono and thought he was a egotistical tosser with a God complex.
Hes a total local hero to me as well. Grew up in my district of Newcastle and the song its a Sin was about St Cuthberts Catholic school, the school my brother was at when the song came out !

Bertucci · 27/04/2020 20:13

Nope. Not getting it. Been switching them off since the 1980s. Simply can't bear them.

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 27/04/2020 20:13

Pretty good, but if you are after the feelgood factor .....ELO. Mr Blue Skies always hits the spot

AnnieCartwright · 27/04/2020 20:14

@missyB1

Same here. Gotta wait another year now. Sad
