Are the ultimate, undisputed masters of feel good music? I always seem to turn to them if I need a bit of a boost and they never let me down! DS1 has just declared them to be 'cringey old man pop' and I'm wondering where I went wrong raising him Grin

My favourites are Go West and Always on My Mind. Their songs were the soundtrack to a really fab part of my life.

efeslight · 27/04/2020 20:15

Been a big fan since i was a teenager. We were also supposed to see them this Sat night. Gutted!
Also loved Erasure and recently rediscovered Depeche Mode.

GreenTulips · 27/04/2020 20:17

Been rescheduled to a date I can’t do!!

Absolutely gutted

Yes. Go West is my favourite. Saw them live when they supported Take That. They were really good

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 20:19

They wrote/produced this too

Livpool · 27/04/2020 20:19

@MaMaLa321 totally agree about Se a Vida E - such happy and summery song

iklboo · 27/04/2020 20:21

Love them. Great after a crappy day at work to cheer me up.

MissConductUS · 27/04/2020 20:22

Some good tunes but also a lot of over produced bubble gum pop.

berryhead2013 · 27/04/2020 20:23

Defo not unreasonable they were the only reason I went to see take that many years ago as they were supporting 🙈

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 20:23

Nothing better than a bit of overproduced bubble gum pop back in the day.

StonersPotPalace · 27/04/2020 20:24

Love them

Rathersexyfortysomethingblonde · 27/04/2020 20:24

I loved the Pet Shop Boys in the 80s.
I remember I especially loved It’s a Sin song.
I used to stand by my desk in my room at home and pretended I play the keyboards with the music blaring so loud.

My mum walked into my room once on me in the heat of the fake keyboard mastering- it was a real Hugh Grant moment in Love Actually when his assistant walks on him when he dances..

MondeoFan · 27/04/2020 20:25

Yes to Pet Shop Boys

I love West End Girls closely followed by Heart and Opportunities(let's make lots of money)

SciFiWoman · 27/04/2020 20:28

@Binterested

I certainly know where I was when ‘West End Girls‘ was top of the charts... giving birth to my son!!😁
Love a bit of the PSB, feel-good music for all!

Hagbeth · 27/04/2020 20:33

YADNBU Love them. I even made my 15 year old daughter love them! Grin

Dita73 · 27/04/2020 20:33

I love them. I have since my teens. My mum loves them too! Unfortunately my husband hates them so I can’t play their music in the house. When I’m in the car though they’re on full whack!

Zampa · 27/04/2020 20:36

They supported Take That a few years ago on their tour and they were absolutely brilliant!

That doesn't work for me. Surely Take That should be supporting The Pet Shop Boys?!

They're definitely one of the best live acts I've ever seen (it was at Glastonbury). Wonder if I can get a ticket to a rescheduled date now.

Butteredtoast55 · 27/04/2020 20:37

YANBU at all. They are bosses of pop. Love Comes Quickly and Suburbia take me right back to a very wonderful love affair, and I cannot get through What Have I Done to Deserve This without singing at the top of my voice. Happy days!

HeretoThereandBackAgain · 27/04/2020 20:39

Love the Pet Shop Boys! Always on My Mind - their cover is better than the original. Also love Erasure, and the Communards.

The 80s were awesome!

Mary46 · 27/04/2020 20:44

Loved them great music. Remember Go West?!

WaterIsWide · 27/04/2020 20:46

Love them. Always loved them. Once took a day off work to listen to them broadcast. Then wished I hadn't because they weren't playing their own (or any recognisable to me) tunes.

However, they are great. 'Home and Dry' is a gentle feel good song. I can take or leave, 'Always on my mind.'

The song, 'love comes quickly' means a lot to me especially the lyric, 'you can hide away from the rest of the world, but just when you least expect it.....love comes quickly.' (No smirking)

I liked, 'Dreamland' released last year. I like their current single.

Yep, they are indeed, excellent.

Criceta · 27/04/2020 20:49

Love them. ‘Actually’ reminds me of being a kid in the 80s, my dad had the album and used to play it in the car all the time. My then 9 year old brother auditioned for the school panto by singing ‘Rent’ - no idea why he chose that song but he got the part!!

SodaSloth · 27/04/2020 20:49

WestEnd Girls sums up the 80s for me so glad I was in secondary school through the mid 80s. Now if I am feeling like I need to turn the music up loud and go slightly mad I go for Duality by Slipknot swiftly followed by Madonna's Like a Prayer album love it

TooSadToSay · 27/04/2020 20:50

Ohhh good shout! I needed something cheering to put on. Still working due to childcare pandemic craziness :(

Cottagepieandpeas · 27/04/2020 20:52

Me too @missyB1
I've wanted to see them for years. Hopefully next year!
