Are the ultimate, undisputed masters of feel good music? I always seem to turn to them if I need a bit of a boost and they never let me down! DS1 has just declared them to be 'cringey old man pop' and I'm wondering where I went wrong raising him

Oooooh yes! Love that cringy old man pop, sums me up perfectly! Even if I'm not two of these things. Wonderful live and on record for all these years. Been part of my life soundtrack throughout.

First band I really loved as a young teen in the 80s after hearing Suburbia. I’ve seen them a few times and never been disappointed.

Meh - take them or leave them - think they were over played massively in the 80s so I got very bored of them - I'm a New Order gal anyway 💙

@Sparklingbrook but did you listen to the “B” side of the eighth wonder song J’ai pas peur? Such a classic. I was obsessed with French songs back then as well. Remember joe le taxi & voyage voyage anyone?

I've gone from listening to predominantly R6 to Heart 80s in the last few days (ooh, Run To You has just come on, sooo good!) because all the R6 djs are being all smug and annoying right now. PSB are obviously one of the popular plays as I've heard West End Girls several times and it never gets old 😻 80s is 100% the best decade for pop.

Yes 2009 Brit Awards with Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers. I was there as had won tickets. They collected a special award that year. Another good one was the performance they did at the end of the 2012 Olympics in The Mall, again there as a volunteer.

Please and Actually are the soundtracks to my late teens/early 20s/wild and misspent youth.

yanbu mostly - but don't grieve too much that your child doesn't like them. my DS loves them so much that it is actually impossible for us to do a car journey of more than 30 minutes without him insisting on having his favourite pet shop boys album played. it is actually possible to overdose on pet sho boys such that I could cheerfully never hear that album again, despite how good it is. one can have too much of a good thing.

It's strange, 90% of what I listen to is more on the punky, rocky side of things but I'll always have a place for a bit of synth pop!

I have waited two years of postponed concerts and seeing them tonight. I cannot wait! I used to play I’m not Scared (PSB and Patsy Kendit) on a loop. They are utter genius.
