Are the ultimate, undisputed masters of feel good music? I always seem to turn to them if I need a bit of a boost and they never let me down! DS1 has just declared them to be 'cringey old man pop' and I'm wondering where I went wrong raising him Grin

Yes! My favorite Pandora station is my self-created 'Pet Shop Boys Radio.' I play it All. The. Time. I can't decide which is my favorite - Always on My Mind or It's a Sin. But so many other great songs - Go West, Rent, West End Girls, Love Comes Quickly.....The last time they were in my area it was my daughter's wedding night! I still hope to see them live someday.

Perch · 27/04/2020 22:14

This was on Radio2 yesterday, was a brilliant listen brought back so many memories!

Like them loads.

Its a Sin is my favourite.

And their cover of Always on My Mind.

In Suburbia is apt for my adult life, sadly!

mammmamia · 27/04/2020 22:23

I love them, I was a child in the 80s but I begged my mum to buy me Actually on cassette. I loved Its a sin, heart, always on my mind, west end girls. I need to listen to them again to remember the others I liked.

bruffin · 27/04/2020 22:23

Saw the at Wembley back in 89 2nd row , it was a brilliant concert which can be found on YouTube.

TheSandman · 27/04/2020 22:23

Sorry OP, they were 'cringey old man pop' back in the 80's.
It was like punk never happened.

Oh punk happened. (I was there.) It just got old very fast and never got any better than the 1997 The Albertos y Lost Trios Paranoias EP Snuff Rock. Here's a TV version of side one ('TV' as in without all the fucking sweary wurds.)

elQuintoConyo · 27/04/2020 22:25

Domino Dancing "all day, all day...."

Didn't they they play live to Battleship Potemkin in Trafalgar Square, or ami totally getting my music mixed up?

I love PSB. I love Heart and Rob Lowe's little dance Grin

gingganggooleywotsit · 27/04/2020 22:27

I love them. Was listening to 'Being Boring' today, it really suited the mood of the lockdown!!

tenlittlecygnets · 27/04/2020 22:28

I love them specially Go West - love the Welsh Male voice choir.

RavenT · 27/04/2020 22:35

In the Night from Disco is the perfect driving tune. Smile

Siameasy · 27/04/2020 22:36

Love them. Haven’t listened for a while actually-thanks for mentioning them as I fancy putting them on next time I’m in the car. No way can I pick a favourite

Siameasy · 27/04/2020 22:38

I fancied Neil in the 80s 🙈cringe

Willowmartha1 · 27/04/2020 22:40

Adore them being boring, love comes quickly and domino dancing are my faves.

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2020 22:41

I remember that he was the editor of Smash Hits.

Chillyourbeans · 27/04/2020 22:42

Love them. Faves are Domino Dancing and Left to My Own Devices. And Jealousy - it perfectly captures the anguish and madness.

Coffeecak3 · 27/04/2020 22:59

I bought a spare Take That ticket last minute from a family member.
Pet shop boys were the support act, best bit of the evening for me.

Bbq1 · 27/04/2020 23:07

Liked a couple of their tunes back in the day but no, Wham! are the most feel good fir me. How can you NOT hear one if their songs and not join in,?!

Graphista · 27/04/2020 23:08

Love them but was late to the party at the time not buying until they brought out "discography" which I played so much the cassette broke!

Shame Neil tennant told my beloved George Michael to turn his music down though Grin

Graphista · 27/04/2020 23:10

@Bbq1 Spot on, ultimate feelgood tunes are wake me up before you go go and club Tropicana

Tillygetsit · 27/04/2020 23:12

I love the Pet Shop Boys. Sadly dh is a heavy metal fan and can't stand them. I've been indoctrinating my dc with 80s pop whilst he's working. Grin
PSB and Iggy Pop current faves with them!

Summerofloaf · 27/04/2020 23:13

Yer they’re good.

But ABBA are the best.

Stillfunny · 27/04/2020 23:16

Thanks for mentioning them.Brings back happy memories. Great how music can transport you back to a certain time in your life. And I wore a long black duster like Neil - so cool. Him , not meGrin

MajesticWhine · 27/04/2020 23:18

Love them. Their mashups are some of my favourites - Viva la Vida / Domino Dancing and Where the streets have no name (I can't take my eyes off you). Seen them live a few times and it's always spectacular. The concert I have tickets for next month seems to have been postponed until May 2021.

BeetrootRocks · 27/04/2020 23:19

missyB1

We got free tickets to see OMD recently and they were awesome! I was a little young for them (just a bit!) but, wow Grin

Ilovesausages · 27/04/2020 23:20

My DH adores them. We walked down the aisle to ‘Indefinite leave to remain’.

Someone mentioned Battleship Potemkin above - we went to Berlin to see them play that there. Oh those were the days pre kids!!
