Is this actually a real fucking thing??
Seriously? Are we to spend the rest of our lockdown, stood on our doorsteps clapping for people??

Oh please. Don’t be ridiculous.

devildeepbluesea · 04/04/2020 20:37

@Muchtoomuchtodo hear hear

gordongopherthe3rd · 04/04/2020 20:37

We appreciate children just about all the time - how many of us are home educating (through no fault of the teachers who are supporting us and doing a great job) and giving them our all?

LinManWellWellWell · 04/04/2020 20:37

I just think any extra clapping we do dilutes their affect of the clapping for the NHS - which was lovely as a one off but is now diluting itself.

Personally I’m trying not to let my kids dwell on it too much so by clapping it feels like saying ‘by the way you should be really struggling right now’...which they aren’t.

NoMoreDickheads · 04/04/2020 20:38
Biscuit

I think this'll probably build kids' character, they'll learn more about having a sense of duty to society and discipline and stuff.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 20:38

Clapping for the kids, are you having a laugh? The NHS was a good one however I think that was a few weeks premature as they will need a bigger round of applause once the strain starts showing across the whole system. What are we clapping for next? Pets?

TooOldForSims · 04/04/2020 20:39

Wow some of your comments are appalling.

Were you looking for Netmums, OP?

Jaxhog · 04/04/2020 20:39

More virtue signaling.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/04/2020 20:40

Clapping for the NHS as one off to show appreciation was a great idea and it seemed that many people joined in.
But Clap for kids.
Clap ffs

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 04/04/2020 20:40

I’m glad we’re pretty much all agreed on this

Mumto1girl3boys · 04/04/2020 20:40

We are supposed to be keeping save not to overwhelm NHS but like this we will all soon end up in there with fucking clapping injuries!

😂😂😂

cushioncovers · 04/04/2020 20:41

I work in the Nhs and this is cringe worthy op.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/04/2020 20:41

Am gutted there was no vote enabled.

EricaNernie · 04/04/2020 20:42

what do you mean shine a torch#? what have i missed now

bobbityboop · 04/04/2020 20:42

I feel a bit sorry for the OP because she obviously didn't get the memo that the clapping shite isn't going down very well on here, but at the same time I was cackling the minute I clicked the thread and saw the picture. I just knew what the response was going to be...Grin

LeMarais · 04/04/2020 20:43

Surely it’s ‘in a blink of an eye’ not ‘at the blink of an eye’?
Anyway, just no. It’s all getting a bit silly now.

GabsAlot · 04/04/2020 20:43

already got a thread about this

gordongopherthe3rd · 04/04/2020 20:43

Honestly who thinks of this bollocks?
I had a look at the FB group about clapping for people, 140k members (thankfully not me, it's public so you can read the idiotic posts) and what a load of nonsense. I expect it's all of the 'Army' lot who were out being ridiculous at Alder Hey, they wanted blood from the NHS staff then and now all of a sudden they are angels. That virtue signalling bandwagon must be getting mighty full of shit

ChicChicChicChiclana · 04/04/2020 20:43

This pandemic is sadly bringing out the worst in people. I know it's understandable (time of unimaginable stress) but it's so horrible to see in action.

chipsandgin · 04/04/2020 20:43

Bonkers! The Nethuns would love that shit though, it’s that way>>>

babychange12 · 04/04/2020 20:43

Oh sweet Jesus Confused

ALemonyPea · 04/04/2020 20:43

Oh good grief, what an utter load of wank.

Children can be helped to understand what's going on by, oh I don't know, their parents telling them maybe?

bobbityboop · 04/04/2020 20:44

@EricaNernie there is a FB group called "Shine a Light" for Coronavirus.

I shall say no more, just go and have a mooch round it.
