@cowfacemonkey l have rolled my eyes so hard l can barely see straight!!!

Is this a joke? Hmm

foamrolling · 04/04/2020 20:26

I'm afraid I think it's a bad idea. My kids, like many I'm sure, are coping pretty well. They have their moments but are mostly treating it like a school holiday. They take their lead from us as parents mostly. We're chilled so they are. I'm not about to go outside tomorrow and make a huge song and dance about the situation they find themselves in. They need to be reassured that this is not a big deal - not alerted to the fact that it is.

If they get upset - and I'm sure they will as this goes on - then we will absolutely acknowledge that and deal with it. But I am not about to make them feel they have something to be brave about by clapping their bravery.

MouthBreathingRage · 04/04/2020 20:26

@jadey0891, are you the sort of person who's filmed themselves clapping, whilst berating others for not doing so? People really need to stop encouraging this clapping one upmanship. People are doing it for any old excuse to show off or get that little too close to their neighbours under the guess of hero worshipping. It's just not necessary, and it's really not helping anyone.

Anyway, my eldest (whilst I absolutely adore him) is egotistical enough without him thinking people are applauding him for staying home and watching an excessive amount of Netflix Kids.....

Roweeeeena · 04/04/2020 20:27

On our local page we are being encouraged to dance to S club 7 on the doorstep tomorrow evening 🙄 No thank you. It's getting a little bit fucking silly.

heartsonacake · 04/04/2020 20:27

YABVU. Kids don’t need clapping for; they’re the least affected in all this and haven’t done anything worthy.

Don’t be so ridiculous.

ghostyslovesheets · 04/04/2020 20:27

I miss Brexit :(

fairlyplump · 04/04/2020 20:28

what a load of bollocks

cowfacemonkey · 04/04/2020 20:29

ELL8888 Yeah I know right DH just asked why my glasses don't seem to be correcting my squint anymore

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 20:29

@ghostyslovesheets
I am EU immigrant and I actually do too😂

AprilFloundering · 04/04/2020 20:30

FFS.

No. Just no.

Areallthenamestaken · 04/04/2020 20:30

Give me strength.

scarbados · 04/04/2020 20:30

Another crappy clappy day. Fuck off.

Reginabambina · 04/04/2020 20:31

At this rate we’re going to be doing daily claps. Soon someone’s going suggest claps for all the drug dealers that have introduced contact free deliveries in the fight against Coronavirus.

Goingfarawsy · 04/04/2020 20:31

My kids understand what’s happening and I’m sure most do. If they’re too young to understand then they should be even less bothered. Kids reflect you’re own behaviour. All chilled here.

devildeepbluesea · 04/04/2020 20:32

The whole clapping bollocks stuck in my.throat the first time. I mean, it's just what we need isn't it, a pointless hollow gesture? Particularly from a majority of people who voted for a party who applauded the defeat of the bill to increase nurses' pay. Hypocrisy personified.

But the rest of it? A copy of a pointless, hollow gesture? No bloody thank you.

gypsywater · 04/04/2020 20:32

I genuinely thought OP was posting this to generate a laugh!

Peanutbutteryogurt · 04/04/2020 20:32

What a crock of shit. I didn't clap for the NHS either and I work for them. DD doesn't need a round of applause ffs.

Mummymummums · 04/04/2020 20:32

No. I get the clapping for the NHS workers thing - they and other key workers are putting their lives on the line. Let's not dilute that by clapping for children too in the next breath.

Biscusting · 04/04/2020 20:32

When are we doing ‘farting for Fannies’

I’m going to stick my arse out the window at 8pm for all the virtue signalling morons out there. Who’s with me!? (|)

Geraniumblue · 04/04/2020 20:33

I’ve done the clap for the NHS, put a bear in the window, and a rainbow, stayed at home except for a supermarket shop and offered a listening ear to panicked and distressed or bored friends. It’s been the least I can do.
But I’m not clapping for children. I’d clap for parents working from home with tiny children, perhaps. Or give them some wine.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/04/2020 20:33

Oh please.

As an NHS worker I hate the Thursday evening clapping.

This feels even worse.

Please just really think hard about who you give your vote to the next time we get the chance. That’s far more gratifying.

Lunawuna · 04/04/2020 20:34

Lol

SleepyNightOwl · 04/04/2020 20:34

If they don’t understand why they’re being kept in, they’re not gonna understand being given a round of applause right....

My thoughts exactly. I think people need to chill out with the clapping, I don’t really know what it’s helping with.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/04/2020 20:35

Clapping because they’re following rules. WTF is that all about. When I was a kid I had no choice but to follow rules. Not in a billion years would I have been clapped for it. What about all the kids in the 1st and 2cd WW. Did they get a clap.
