My DS has been loving the lockdown. Not needing to go to school and no more me forcing him to go out every weekend. It’s bliss for him. It’s no hardship for them

Taddda · 04/04/2020 22:37

The whole world is going batshit.

(Possibly how this whole thing started....)

Bella444 · 04/04/2020 22:37

Best thread ever. Thank you op and mumsnetters Smile

callmeadoctor · 04/04/2020 22:38

You lost me at "our little heroes"!!!! Hmm

Snorkelface · 04/04/2020 22:39

When they all grow up to be doctors and nurses and paramedics on decent pay I'll clap for whoever made that happen. Anyway Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked starts at 2.35 on ITV2 - for them, not me.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 22:42

I hope YoutheCat doesn't mind...
I just really want to see report on BBC with reporter being live on some random street talking about people twerking😂 But I don't have spare SM profile sadly

I have no glitter tho...

This brings it home to me, that those in society that push for ‘safe spaces’ are still trying to fucking make young people the centre of the fucking world. 🙄

jadey0891 · 04/04/2020 22:43

I'm glad I've entertained you all.. thanks for welcoming me Grin

Can we squeeze in a Mosh for Mumsnet maybe? I'd get on board with a socially distanced Mosh pit.

Christmastreedown · 04/04/2020 22:46

jadey0891, this has brighten my day Grin

Hotcoldsometimessnowy · 04/04/2020 22:47

I will be clapping for the children. My own child has never complained about never getting to go out. We are blessed and have a small garden with a trampoline which we have utilised a lot! My husband is considered ‘vulnerable’ and thus we can not risk going outside our garden. The other children in our street have stayed in their houses or gardens (our street is usually so busy with children being ferried to clubs and activities) I am proud of the parents and children for adhering to the guidance. I do not care how I am viewed for clapping for the children. I truly believe that they deserve our support. Some children come from the most horrific home lives (I work in a school so can assure you that this is true) and life may be so awful for them at the moment. I will clap and I will gratefully do so. Much love to those and their families who are finding it tough at the moment. These are very strange times but I am sure that the light at the end of the tunnel is close!

macaroniandpizza · 04/04/2020 22:47

jadey0891 what a welcome to mumsnet Grin posters werent laughing at you personally and i hope you feel a bit more at home here now

Jaggerypokery · 04/04/2020 22:49

Please can you clap for those of us who can’t clap because of joint or soft tissue conditions? I have one hand in a wrist brace and the other is pretty sore too. I am feeling bereft at my inability to clap for key workers, heroic children, valiant cats and stoical hamsters and could do with a round of applause to recognise my suffering.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 22:49

@jadey0891 you did well😂

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 22:51

"the most precious jewels you'll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children"

Not when those arms belong to an unshowered boy who's been working out. 🤢

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 04/04/2020 22:52

the most precious jewels you'll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children

This sounds bot Hanibbaly...

Yet another reason why this nonsense needs to be stopped immediately. It's not inclusive. People like this poster are unable to participate and I think that is very unfair. I bet they are crying into their tea at the thought of not being able to thank stoical hamster.

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 04/04/2020 22:55

@Hotcoldsometimessnowy

Not sure the children with terrible home lives, which does play on my mind a lot at this awful time, will appreciate or benefit at all from clapping organized and performed by the normal non abusive/non shit parents whose children most likely have lovely normal lives and enough food to eat etc.

NCforthisMarch · 04/04/2020 22:56

@Jadey0891: I'll clap for the kids. They HAVE had their world turned upside down, and being a part of something/the claps probably mean more to them than eg NHS workers, who eloquently make the point that we could & should just stay in

I was a kid once and I got to go to school/see my friends/play on the swings on a sunny day

If applauding kids will make it easier on parents to help little ones understand that they can't see friends/grandparents and that they are helping in that way- what is the hearm?

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 22:59

They HAVE had their world turned upside down

So has everyone.

They are being asked to stay at home and play, they aren't being sent to the front line or used as guinea pigs.

SoupDragon · 04/04/2020 22:59

They AREN'T being asked...

Ffs.

Fallsballs · 04/04/2020 23:01

Stoical hamster 😀 thanks for that !

I need a clap for my super stoical special needs cat too, perhaps on a Tuesday.

“The most special jewels you’ll have round your neck“ - boak.
Reminds me of “love live laugh “ shite. Get a grip.

Changednamesorry · 04/04/2020 23:02

This happens in Spain. Noone is a dick about it. Many join in. Not sure what the issue is.
