For those that can't get delivery slots.

not suitable for allergy sufferers though. They can't guarantee ingredients.

SoupDragon · 24/03/2020 10:44

It's a basic box of food. Of course they can't cater for every little dietary requirement for every single person. Do you think they shouldn't cater for anyone?

BloomedAgain · 24/03/2020 13:08

I've ordered a box (I am one of the high risk category so avoiding stores). I am celiac and lactose intolerant. I'm also very low on basics/fresh ingredients and can't get a delivery slot till mid April. I'll give the stuff I can't eat to my neighbours.

Dixiechickonhols · 24/03/2020 14:03

You can still get the box and check packaging for allergy info and leave things no one in house can eat out for people to take. Some of it is fresh stuff so suitable for anyone.
I think it’s a great idea to get food to a large number of people.

sqirrelfriends · 24/03/2020 15:07

I ordered one for Saturday, we don't have any intolerances and aren't a fussy lot so hopefully it will work out well.

Does anyone have theirs yet?

Whatthefunk · 24/03/2020 15:26

When I try to register, it says only alphabets allowed in the name boxes.....I have only written my name...

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 24/03/2020 16:11

Ooh I'd love to know what's inside. Don't forget to upload photos whoever gets theirs first Wink

SureTry · 24/03/2020 16:26

@Whatthefunk You may have included a space at the end of your name by accident. It happens when you auto fill details sometimes.

Dontlikeoranges · 24/03/2020 16:34

Please please if you don't absolutely have to don't order them - I can't get anything ordered for my mum anywhere and I can't do shopping myself as I'm at high risk. So far despite asking for help I've not got anywhere. I'm sure help will come but it's so worrying

SimplySteveRedux · 24/03/2020 16:40

@SimplySteveRedux I have no words. That astounds me. I hope you are both managing OK and have support.

Well, @DamnYouAutoCarrot , we both have symptoms and it took us five hours on Friday to buy anything resembling shopping.

What is really stressful is that the NHS/chemists is/are having shortness of medication issues. Both DP and I have over 15 items on our rx.

It's just shit, and I'm really stressing (I have generalised anxiety disorder) about it all.

Thepeabody · 24/03/2020 20:20

@Dontlikeoranges where about in the country is your mum?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/03/2020 21:41

I will post back on Wednesday once my box has arrived!

Excellent! I'll look forward to that Dolly .

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 24/03/2020 21:47

Try amazon prime now (they are not allowing you to hoard delivery slots). It can be a pain to checkout, because they release slots throughout the day.

Amazon pantry has been ok

Online pharmacy deliveries will send the prescription request straight to your gp and have your prescription posted to you.

Contact your council if you're really stuck. Volunteers are delivering food parcels from food banks.

If anyone is in Birmingham or has parents this way. I'm happy to help drop bits to them.

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of these boxes to pps to see the contents :)

@SimplySteveRedux I'm so sorry to hear that. It just sounds like a vicious circle for you both. I think the stress is making people ill!

Yet my partner seemingly isn't on the list. She's really pissed off.

Same here - DH, 73, heart condition and ulcerative colitis (takes 27 tablets a day): self - rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroid, and Sjogren's syndrome (auto-immune, so depressed immune system) and not on the Magic Sainsbury list>

I suspect that there is more chance of getting Willy Wonka's Golden chocolate wrapper.

However, if I am unable to get any deliveries for any length of time, I hope they give a partial refund on my pre-paid delivery contract.

SunshineCake · 25/03/2020 08:23

This is such a good idea but there are always people who will moan. Do you not get it yet ? There is a thread posted by a nurse about the reality of this. I suggest you read it.

Morrison's are doing something. I'm intolerant to loads of stuff but it hadn't crossed my mind to complain there were no GF products. Hell, I didn't even think about it.

Daisypod · 25/03/2020 10:35

Had my box delivered this morning and thought I would post the contents.
Total contents: 3 chicken breast fillets, heck chicken sausages (10), 10 slices of bacon, 525g 5% beef mince, big block of cathedral city, 4 slices of good ham, country life butter, tomato and basil pasta sauce, loaf of squished white bread, 4 toilet rolls, 2 kitchen rolls, packet of pasta, microwave rice, carrots, broccoli, 3 peppers, tone of beans, tomato soup, veg soup, potato’s and three onions. I don’t think that’s bad for the price to be honest.
I did struggle somewhat to get it though as the delivery driver put it outside my door and ran off (fair enough) but my door opens outwards and the box was in the way and very heavy! Took a lot of shoving and trying to hook my leg around the door to get it out of the way and the door to open!

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 25/03/2020 10:37

@Daisypod I shouldn't laugh that they just ditched and ran!! I'm glad you got it and you got the lucrative goodies.. It does seem worth it then.

Did anyone not get email confirmation? I placed order and had payment confirmed then nothing since. Not sure whether there was a problem or not as there was only one slot on there

PerkingFaintly · 25/03/2020 10:48

Oh that's very useful, Daisypod, thank you.

Ooops, re your door!Grin

Maybe you need a taped out and clearly signed "drop zone" a metre or two from the door, because this is going to keep happening... (50% of delivery people will then ignore the drop zone, but hey, the other 50% would be a win.)

SimplySteveRedux · 25/03/2020 11:23

Very useful @Daisypod thanks for letting us know the contents.

feebeecat · 25/03/2020 11:32

Box just arrived - identical contents to Daisypod’s and weighs a tonne!
It was for my 90yr old mum - delivery driver left it in the open garage doorway & I’ve unpacked it for her - no way she could have moved it on her own. I’ve left lots of smaller food parcels for her to retrieve when she needs them.
It will definitely keep her ticking over for a few weeks and is a blessed relief to me - can’t thank you enough OP If nothing else she won’t starve!

ArriettyJones · 25/03/2020 11:35

Thanks for updating us. That sounds a pretty useful selection.

Alsohuman · 25/03/2020 11:35

That’s really not bad. We could get a week’s meals out of that.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 25/03/2020 11:36

Thank you for this, they are however currently oversubscribed

Marieo · 25/03/2020 11:36

Sounds like a good selection!
