I’ll tell you a funny story. I’m a member of a very right-wing US politics online discussion group for kicks. The moderator of the group controls - and gets involved in - every discussion. (I should say the membership of this group is over 50K and the number of posts a day is generally 30 or so.) She’s also a typical Trumpian in that she reels off the standard “lamestream mass media” etc lines” and she mutes anyone who disagrees with her.

Anyway, I took her on eventually. She said that the Democratic candidates wanted to get rid of the Constitution. To this, I replied Trump flouts the Constitution on a regular basis. “What? Provide examples!” she replies. “Emoluments clause,” I replied. “That’s just one.”

GUYS. SHE HAD NOT HEARD OF THE EMOLUMENTS CLAUSE.

She then just spat something about she doesn’t read mass media lies and that’s why she didn’t know and muted me.

That Fox News are desperately trying to minimise this pandemic, and to say that it is only being reported by other media in order to make Trump look bad, makes me think that they know very well that their pin-up has cocked up, and that people will notice this if they are not kept brainwashed about it.

How can Fox deny the figures? A lot died in last 24 hours, total now 6,100. I just don't know how they can ignore the figures because they are sobering.

BERLIN — A delivery of 200,000 face masks ordered and paid for by the Berlin police was “confiscated” en route, a city official said Friday, citing U.S. legislation as the likely reason for the diversion by an American company.

To be fair, it might have been the Chinese who blocked it, who effectively nationalised the 3M plant in China under emergency legislation. They hadn't exported any masks since 19th February, last I saw. (Mind you, they had no business letting them take German money if so.)

I watched that question. Trouble is... he can rudely cut off people asking the sort of questions he doesn't like, which he frequently does. That reporter tried really hard but he talked over her, then moved away from answering.

Certainly when it comes to the Government. The vast majority of ppl are amazing, just going through something akin to the Twighlight Zone these last few years it feels like.

I heard something this morning that has me bewildered and kind of fuming too. Alabama's governor Kay Ivey has finally decided to implement a stay at home order today, great, but, I still talk to my ex and he's been working this whole time, there's been no effort to distance anyone so far and he's told me that his work have given them all letter saying they are classed as essential, so the plant will remain open and they will all be working. It's a massive 24hr plant. So great that he won't lose his job, but not great because so far the only measure in place were fabric sheets put beside each chair in the break room. He joked it was like taking a test, or going to vote in makeshift booths. They queue up to clock in and there's no distancing. I'm fuming because he and everyone are at risk, and how is his work essential? They make plastic/fibreglass baths and shower stalls/surrounds. I don't get it. Though he did make a quip about 'It must be nice to have a governor as pal.'

Disclaimer: I have no clue if anyone at his work knows the Governor, it's just the gossip on the shop floor apparently.
