Acquitted but still impeached ... Trump thread 99

I’ll tell you a funny story. I’m a member of a very right-wing US politics online discussion group for kicks. The moderator of the group controls - and gets involved in - every discussion. (I should say the membership of this group is over 50K and the number of posts a day is generally 30 or so.) She’s also a typical Trumpian in that she reels off the standard “lamestream mass media” etc lines” and she mutes anyone who disagrees with her.

Anyway, I took her on eventually. She said that the Democratic candidates wanted to get rid of the Constitution. To this, I replied Trump flouts the Constitution on a regular basis. “What? Provide examples!” she replies. “Emoluments clause,” I replied. “That’s just one.”

GUYS. SHE HAD NOT HEARD OF THE EMOLUMENTS CLAUSE.

She then just spat something about she doesn’t read mass media lies and that’s why she didn’t know and muted me.

AIBU?

Meanwhile, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar has said that in general, he would advise older adults and people of all ages with severe underlying health conditions to avoid large gatherings and to exercise caution.

When asked if he would continue to hold large campaign rallies, Trump said, "We'll have tremendous rallies."

Many of Trump's supporters could safely be described as "older adults" -- though I don't think that being a Trump fanatic can really be described as a severe underlying health condition. Probably. Depending on whether that includes mental health.

Lweji · 08/03/2020 10:35

I think Trump should continue to hold tremendous rallies, and he should shake hands with as many people as possible.
But, of course, germophobe Trump won't.
I wonder if he'll keep the same handshake and hand holding with other world leaders now. Wink

UYScuti · 08/03/2020 10:52

I'm looking forward to these 'old man's friend' rallies
May all participants cough and sneeze mightily purging their airways and mingling their microbe laden breath
♥️🙏♥️

lionheart · 08/03/2020 11:33

I didn't realise that the bug is more dangerous for men.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/03/2020 12:13

Of those infected (and known to be infected, which is not quite the same) 2.8% of infected men died compared with 1.7% of infected women.

It might not get Trump, who is on a platform out of the way of the followers' microbe-laden breath, but it might spread through them like wildfire.

Lweji · 08/03/2020 12:27

Trump questions Biden's cognitive health.
TBF, I do too, but glass houses and all that...

Trump understands that his rallies are key to his popularity, the most important man in the world takes the time to shoot the breeze with the ordinary People this makes a huge impression
The rallies are glorious golden opportunities to venerate the dear leader, if they are also opportunities to catch a deadly virus will the cult of trump become a suicide cult?

lionheart · 08/03/2020 12:45

I saw an interview with a Trumpy woman who said the virus was a hoax.

lionheart · 08/03/2020 12:47

I imagine the virus doesn't believe it.

UYScuti · 08/03/2020 12:55

If trumpy men and trumpy women all think the virus is a hoax then maybe that will be their undoing!
As they all cough and sneeze over each other while they gaze adoringly at the dear leader surely enough of the miasma will waft up into Trump's nostrils for an old man with an unhealthy lifestyle to be carried off?

Lweji · 08/03/2020 13:28

Apparently there are a few churches whose followers are immune.
They should all pay regular visits to the wh.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 08/03/2020 14:26

Sounds good to me.

Fmr. Bloomberg adviser Tim O'Brien: "If Republicans really want to make an issue out of Hunter Biden ... there is going to be a scorched earth response aimed at all of the Trump children that is going to be unlike anything they've experienced thus far."

"Trading on the New York Stock Exchange was halted temporarily Monday after indexes plunged 7% in reaction to Saudi Arabia's shocking oil-price cut. The financial market chaos comes amid increasing worries that the coronavirus epidemic will plunge the global economy into recession."

It was a 15 minute halt, but things are still not looking good.

I'm sure Scrotus will put his own spin on it which will be lapped up by his minions and fans like kittens lap up cream🙄. Personally, I blame Obama🤪.

Lweji · 09/03/2020 15:19

Personally, I blame Obama

More likely his good friend, Biden.

AcrossthePond55 · 09/03/2020 15:26

I'm sure we can throw Hunter Biden into the mix, too Lweji. And Pelosi.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 09/03/2020 15:37

No no no - it's definitely Hillary to blame. Those emails...

'NEW YORK (AP) — The White House overruled health officials who wanted to recommend that elderly and physically fragile Americans be advised not to fly on commercial airlines because of the new coronavirus, a federal official told The Associated Press.'

TheNorthWestPawsage · 09/03/2020 19:13

Pres Trump told aides he’s afraid journalists will try to purposefully contract coronavirus to give it to him on Air Force One and has asked the Secret Service to bar anyone who has a cough from the White House grounds, per Vanity Fair.
