Rewatching SATC on Sky Comedy and I forgot how much of a twat Big was with Carrie! Angry

Aidan was much better

Samhradh · 06/02/2020 23:31

Yes, but I think every character was hand-selected to be individually awful.

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:31

He was a wanker
So was Carrie

Guess they deserved each other!

SidneyP · 06/02/2020 23:32

@Samhradh Samantha is my favourite. Charlotte was way too judgey imo

steff13 · 06/02/2020 23:32

Carrie was also kind of the worst. Aiden was better but Carrie didn't deserve him.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/02/2020 23:33

I thought SATC was great, then I rewatched and realised the horror. Then I watched Girls. So bad.

SidneyP · 06/02/2020 23:34

Why don't people like Carrie? Just interested to hear why

I do think Carrie has shit dress sense though. Never understood the hype

Carrie was unbelievably self obsessed. I know she was the principal character but every time any of the other 3 had something going on in their lives she would give them 5 seconds of attention and then revert to her latest drama. I was also a big fan of the show until I rewatched it.

steff13 · 06/02/2020 23:38

Sex and the City hasn't aged well.

beckywiththeshithair20 · 06/02/2020 23:39

Carrie is a total drama queen and very self cantered. What sort of person makes her current partner go on holiday to the wilderness with the guy she cheated on him with? She knowingly shagged big when he was with Natasha then desperately had to get her story across to Natasha who didn't want to hear it. She's a selfish friend who always brings the conversation back to her (they all do) and in general is a highly irritating character.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/02/2020 23:39

Carrie constantly ditches her friends in favour of vague boyfriend promises, she's flakey as fuck, is painfully superficial, judgemental, self-important, and just... not very nice

Auldspinster · 06/02/2020 23:40

Aidan was awful, so needy.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/02/2020 23:40

Haha, Becky... You put it much better than I did

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/02/2020 23:41

Aidan was awful, so needy

Controlling. The word you're looking for is controlling.

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:42

No, it’s aged very badly

I disliked Carrie mostly because she was weak and pathetic

Her money management... 😱

But also, after series 1, Big was perfectly clear about who he was and she chose to ignore it. The Paris episode really summed that up.

She did improve but I think she had to, because the central character being so pathetic couldn’t have gone on for so long. They both improved.

I did like Miranda but thought it was a real shame she married Steve. I’d like her to have stayed single and childfree and become a Supreme Court judge!

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:44

PS outing but when I worked in NY my best mate lived in the same building as Steve.

Obviously we pretended to be cool and just nodded casually when we saw him in the hallway 😂

She saw them filming a few times, I didn’t see them once!

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:45

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing loving the username!

Whatifitallgoesright · 06/02/2020 23:47

Has anyone rewatched Cheers? Saw some at my parents, we used to watch together in late 80's when I was teenager. Sam Malone pathetic and amusing back then. Now? Manipulative and abusive. Really not amusing.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/02/2020 23:49

AutumnRose1 😁😁😁😁

Waterandlemonjuice · 06/02/2020 23:53

He was attractive though, Chris Noth! But Carrie is selfish, needy and not a very good friend I thought, on rewatching.

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:54

OMD Cheers - I was horrified by that show when I first saw it! I thought Sam was meant to be a sleaze and that Rebecca would eventually punch his lights out.

123rd · 06/02/2020 23:54

It's odd isn't it? Maybe because we are older and wiser we can see 'people' for what they really are.
Carrie pissed me off back in the day. I agree with PP. she was annoying and whiny. And very very self obsessed

AutumnRose1 · 06/02/2020 23:55

Some “ Carrie constantly ditches her friends in favour of vague boyfriend promises, she's flakey as fuck, is painfully superficial, judgemental, self-important, and just... not very nice”

Yes. The veal! I’d have dumped her immediately if I had been mad enough to be her friend in the first place.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 06/02/2020 23:56

The only one I still have any time for is Miranda.

Carrie was SO neurotic and selfobsessed, Charlotte was such a princess, and after what they did with Samantha in SATC2 (MOST OFFENSIVE FILM EVER) I just hated it.

SidneyP · 06/02/2020 23:57

This is my first time rewatching so will see how I feel at the end of it all! SATC2 should have never even made. Terrible film
