To think Naked Attraction is just a really weird programme?

I’m extremely late to the party I know but I've just watched a few episodes.

Just....wtf?! The last 2, they’ve spread food on the contestant’s bodies and have been licking it off, gross.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining all right and I’m no prude but I just cannot imagine wanting the whole nation to see me naked and hear me talking openly about what I’ve done in bed/ what I’d like to do in bed etc and then see Kathy from no 35 down the village shop the week after. I’d just die.

I just find it so strange that it’s almost not believable (I know it is real) surely if you wanted to go on a tv dating show first dates or something would be a bit less embarrassing?!

AIBU to find it just....weird? Has anyone from here been on it?

Momohmom · 01/02/2020 23:16

It's so bizarre! I really dont understand why anyone would want to go on it.

Also naked bodies are horrible 🤣. No prude either but I just dont find genitals attractive to look at haha

itsamood · 01/02/2020 23:17

YANBU but on the rare occasion I’ve seen it I’m like 👀 and can’t turn it round 😂

Rainallnight · 01/02/2020 23:18

I completely agree. I’m far from a prude but whenever I see it, I think we’re at the end of days.

clutches pearls

Sporty99 · 01/02/2020 23:20

I agree. Caught the first half of an episode recently, the one with the strawberries and cream in the belly buttons. I was cringing so hard I had to turn it off.

Can't work out why you'd want to be a contestant on it.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 01/02/2020 23:23

I think it says a lot about the person who chooses to be a contestant.

A normal, well balanced person just wouldn’t think it’s a good idea to get your knob/fanny out on telly for a date. At least with the likes of Embarrassing Bodies there’s a purpose to the nudity, instead of it being so shallow and ick.

BlueEyedFloozy · 01/02/2020 23:24

I don't get it either and don't watch it often but if it happens to be in when I'm flipping channels I feel compelled to watch!

Last night there was a disco dancing bloke in his 60's who was absolutely cringe worthy - I was so glad his date told him how awful it was 🤣

My sister is in high school and told me they watched clips of the reveals to discuss how everyone is different, there is no "normal" when it comes to genitals etc etc. I would have been horrified as a teen and my family are pretty open about bodies, sex etc

HollowTalk · 01/02/2020 23:27

How on earth did his date think he might have been normal?!

BobbyBlueCat · 01/02/2020 23:38

I'm the same.
It's an okay watch (for trash TV) but all I think about is what it's be like if I went on it.

My colleagues would never let me live it down. Screenshotted images of me would adorn every bit of Secret Santa crap for years. There would be photos printed out and stuck over everything at work. It'd be used as their photo of me on their phones for years.
The above would all be done on jest, by friends, BTW. Nor remotely in a bullying way

And Christ, the next time you'd come face to face with the boss!

Mortifying.

VenusTiger · 01/02/2020 23:43

YANBU I am no prude either OP, but I find it so sad that there's no mystery left - where's the anticipation, the lust at the start of a relationship, the sexual connection, the chemistry with programmes like this - it's like Go Compare for shallow minded fools.

Deadringer · 01/02/2020 23:49

It's gross. What sort of fucked up mind came up with the idea. No matter how shapely or attractive the people are I think they look awful, it's the pose I think, just standing there with it all hanging out, it reminds me of a butcher's shop.

GabsAlot · 02/02/2020 00:04

I agree just odd why do i want to date someone based on their hair or penis or anything theyre showing me

StCharlotte · 02/02/2020 00:05

Caught the first half of an episode recently, the one with the strawberries and cream in the belly buttons.

I saw that one - probably only the third one I've seen. I was somewhat mesmerized by the tattoo'd lady's vulva and when I found myself wondering if she'd had some kind of cosmetic surgery, I knew it was time for bed.

It is an utterly bizarre programme.

Who did the disco bloke pick by the way?

SwedishEdith · 02/02/2020 00:08

My sister is in high school and told me they watched clips of the reveals to discuss how everyone is different, there is no "normal" when it comes to genitals etc etc. I would have been horrified as a teen and my family are pretty open about bodies, sex etc

But they usually do all conform to a 'type' - shaved and tattooed - so no good for that anyway. Plus, whatever your reaction, it's all decided by the face reveal, I think.

BlueEyedFloozy · 02/02/2020 00:09

@StCharlotte disco bloke picked the lady that says she was "like Blackpool - cheap, tacky and a thrilling ride"

First thing she told him on the date was that she cringed at his dancing and thought he was too old for it and that he looked stupid 😲

emwithme · 02/02/2020 00:10

When DD was about 8 weeks old, during a middle of the night cluster feeding marathon, I was watching Naked Attraction. I'd just changed her nappy and walked across the room as the TV freeze framed on 5 pairs of boobs. Her eyes were SO wide and she was making the baby bird "feed me" mouth so much Grin

BumbleBeee69 · 02/02/2020 00:13

Yip.. saw it by accident.. channel flicking.. it's very weird.. why put yourself through that Confused

nancy75 · 02/02/2020 00:14

Aside from the well deserved years of workplace piss taking, who on Earth looks at a willy & a pair of sagging balls and thinks ‘ phwoar, I’d like to go out with the bloke attached to that’
A flaccid penis & a dangly ball bag are hardly attractive items.

EeWellIllGoToTheFootOfOurStair · 02/02/2020 00:14

Oh I love it. It's so bad it's good. We watch it laughing our heads off and agog for much of it.

Anyway, sat watching it on catch up the other week and my (21 year old) DD suddenly said ' oh my god, that's Charlie from uni!!' so that added another hilarious dimension to our viewing

HeronLanyon · 02/02/2020 00:18

This is judgmental and I try hard not to be about this but I worry contestants may have vulnerabilities and the programme feels irresponsible to me ! This may well not be right but I can’t shake the feeling. If I catch it by mistake I turn right over. Find it bleak and depressing.

HeronLanyon · 02/02/2020 00:19

Judgmental re producers not contestants.

Justsocross · 02/02/2020 00:25

I had it on the tv today as I was decorating !!! My 22 yo ds walks in and was like what the hell is going on ??? ( he already said he thought the paint colour was horrid ) Grin
Then says well after looking at all those cocks the paints not too bad Wink so it’s good for something

TheHouseWithTheBambooDoor · 02/02/2020 00:28

The most cringeworthy awkward programme ever. It reaches out-of-body-experience levels of awkwardness and I was so badly affected by one episode I’ve never been tempted to watch again. The pretend ‘this is all perfectly normal’, desperately-trying-to-normalise-the-most-excruciatingly-awkward-scenario banter is the worst bit. Fucking terrible.

madcatladyforever · 02/02/2020 00:32

The whole things is ghastly interjected with ridiculous "science" sex ed bits which are even more cringeworthy and do not excuse the programme.

Imagine going into work the next day after being on the show ff's.
And it's always "empowering".
I can be empowered by not taking my clothes off thanks.

thaegumathteth · 02/02/2020 00:38

Like others I've only seen it when channel switching and I've been sucked in....

It's the weirdest thing - who are these people who go on it?! How have they found so many? as a one off show I could maybe understand 10/20 people weird enough to do it but there has been more than one SERIES hasn't there?!?

The presenter being so blase about the sex like 'I'm so cool I don't even get embarrassed' is the definition of cringe and also how much Botox has she had?

It's all quite depressing but also weirdly fascinating.

Nirvana1979 · 02/02/2020 00:53

If im flicking through the channels i can't help but watch. Its like a car crash. Its the weirdest thing ever! I barely let my husband see me in my birthday day never mind going in the telly.

Did anyone see the woman on it, last year. she was talking about touching the penis with her feet and stuff. She was so crude. She was sayung loads of other things but i was sitting there in shock listening to her.
