To think Naked Attraction is just a really weird programme?

I’m extremely late to the party I know but I've just watched a few episodes.

Just....wtf?! The last 2, they’ve spread food on the contestant’s bodies and have been licking it off, gross.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining all right and I’m no prude but I just cannot imagine wanting the whole nation to see me naked and hear me talking openly about what I’ve done in bed/ what I’d like to do in bed etc and then see Kathy from no 35 down the village shop the week after. I’d just die.

I just find it so strange that it’s almost not believable (I know it is real) surely if you wanted to go on a tv dating show first dates or something would be a bit less embarrassing?!

AIBU to find it just....weird? Has anyone from here been on it?

This programme continues to amaze me, I've no idea how they find their contestants...Shock

Also that programme with Jimmy Carr and Kathrine Ryan - Your Face Or Mine.....just why..

Whenever I get sucked in watching it I keep watching it just to see what they look like IN clothing. I find that it more interesting to gauge their style, especially the men.

PorpentinaScamander · 02/02/2020 01:16

I wonder if the contestants tell their families/friends they will be on it. Or just hope they don't watch it and see them.
Can you imagine telling your Grandparents. "Hi Grandad. I don't know if you watch Naked Attraction, but if you do could you skip it next week. " Grin

bitheby · 02/02/2020 01:16

It happened to come on after something I was watching last week and the woman picking had been a contestant twice before trying to be picked. So that's how they get their contestants seemingly - letting them come on repeatedly.

Dragonembroidery · 02/02/2020 01:28

I like it. It makes us all realise bodies come in all shapes and sizes and it's always interesting to see what people pick. Not as predictable as you'd expect.
Makes me feel better about my body too.
There was a 67 year old last time!
There's hope for me yet :)

Dragonembroidery · 02/02/2020 01:30

It's affirming.

tobee · 02/02/2020 01:51

Affirming of what?

From12 · 02/02/2020 02:35

Yes it’s weird, but I do watch it every now and then. First time I watched because I was intrigued. It took me a few episodes (series 1) to realise there was no glass between the chooser and the naked person.
This I thought was awkward/weird, for both the chooser and naked person. I do think it can be crude at times, especially from the earlier episodes. It has made me realise that what I thought was nice about a certain body, doesn’t actually look that great. However I do feel that overall the show, highlights & promotes body image in a positive way.

Thedogscollar · 02/02/2020 03:13

We must be unique in the world of television. I can think of no other country in the world that would consider genitals as entertainment.

Pinkbonbon · 02/02/2020 03:23

I can't understand all the bald fannies. I mean surely if you were gonna show everything you would at least leave a little pubic hair to disguise things anyway!

One lass had a tiny wee mustache like patch down there the other week and was voted off first for it! Such bs.

It should promote body positivity and diversity...but until pubic hair is properly represented, it falls seriously short of that.

IAmUniquelyMe · 02/02/2020 03:46

I catch it every now and again when channel hopping.

I was walking through a shopping centre and saw one of the guys who had been picked. Only noticed him because he was an amputee and I wondered where I had seen him before. Then I remembered it was from that show!

As an oldie I'm surprised at all the shaved genitals. Didn't know that it applied to men too.

Not surprised that all the plump ones get voted off early. The pickers are all so predictable.

Why do they appear on the show? Because they are all basically exhibitionists and want their 15 minutes of fame. They are living in the here and now and not thinking or caring about the consequences.

I could never be on any reality show fully dressed never mind this one. One of my nightmares is being in a town centre with my nightie with everyone staring at me. How more awful it would be to be naked. Blush

Diversity. I think it’s body positive, hase a male/female balance and shows you do not have to conform to a society stereotype. Body confidence is a good thing. It shows a range of sizes and ages. In my book, that’s good.

Thanks to positive parenting (my parents, now deceased, were both naturists, I am comfortable with my own nakedness

The old pubic hair chestnut has come up again, but this applies to both genders on the show and this represents real life.

Now watch the moral police shoot me down in flames.

Finally, TVs have a range of channels and an on/off switch.

JolieOBrien · 02/02/2020 05:31

I find this programme hilarious and I think if I had seen my husband naked before I dated him I would not have taken it any further. I have noticed that none of the couples stay together after their first date.

Untrained · 02/02/2020 06:08

Naked humans are really quite ridiculous looking. It’s only love or desire (both ideally!) that distracts you from that!

lyralalala · 02/02/2020 06:15

I watch it occasionally because it can be amusing. There seems to be more touching in this series, with things like the strawberries and cream and bum squeezing, and for some reason I really don’t like that

Seems like a random thing to say about a programme of naked people, but it feels like a step too far

FabulouslyFab · 02/02/2020 06:27

The host seriously needs to check out the definition of ‘vagina’.

FleabagTeabag · 02/02/2020 07:00

I find it really compulsive viewing actually.

The people going on must be supremely confident. Especially when they reveal Gary with the small penis is a builder or something like that - how does he live that down the next day on the building site? Its mad.

I like the presenter. I think she is married to Sue Perkins isnt she?

rwalker · 02/02/2020 07:16

It is what it is completely upfront about what it is . We have a guy at work OUTRAGED about it yet watches it every week.
Think it's a case of each to there own.

ForalltheSaints · 02/02/2020 07:24

I did not find the comments being made about women's vulvas/vaginas in the one episode I watched something I thought appropriate, and hope it does not colour young men's view of relationships and sex, or cause body issues in women.

AnnaFiveTowns · 02/02/2020 07:26

I'm fascinated by it. What goes on in people's minds to think, oh I'll go on TV and get naked in front of the whole country for no reason; some of these people are teachers! How the hell do they ever live that down at school?! It's just utterly bizarre. I'm still trying to figure out the mind-set of the contestants. Most of them have very normal looking bodies so o don't think they go on to show off.

It is refreshing to see people of all shapes and sizes and ages. It's shocking because all the images we normally see are air-brushed or artificial; so in that respect I think it's a positive programme; but then breaking a whole person down into the sum of their body parts is horrible. I feel very conflicted about the whole show. But when it's on I can't help but watch it.

1forAll74 · 02/02/2020 08:07

It is trash TV big time, I have watched it a few times , just to see what it is all about, and it is so cringy, Everyone knows what naked bodies look like, but its the comments from the people who are wanting to check out the penis's and vaginas and breasts that are so cringey,, and the woman who host's the programme, is cringy as well, I don't know her name, but think she is Sue Perkins partner..

But obviously, there must be quite a few people willing to go on the programme, for their own reasons, so guess the programme will stay on..

It would have been quite a shocking programme years ago, but now the the whole body exhibits and stupid comments are very funny really.

Insaneinthemembury · 02/02/2020 08:13

I think it's very odd and I also wonder how they find so many people willing to go on. But I must admit it's helped me feel more confident about my body because they do have all sorts of shapes and sizes on there... different gentials, body hair etc.!
It's nice to see real people.

SpokeTooSoon · 02/02/2020 08:22

I’ve seen it a couple of times (by accident!). I’m always gobsmacked and can’t take my eyes off all the bald genitals. I know a lot of younger people do it (I’m 41 for context) but had no idea EVERYONE does it. Can’t they throw in a few people with public hair? I do feel like an anomaly with my neat, trimmed bush so it’s not reaching out to reassure me my body is normal! 😂 I think those shaved vulvas looks horrible, especially when you can see the makings of a stubble rash!

SpokeTooSoon · 02/02/2020 08:23

Pubic, not public hair. Although...
