To expect DH to do this for me

Every weekend DH cooks breakfast.

And every weekend my fried egg is too hard.

I only like dippy eggs. If he's going to go to the trouble of cooking bacon, black pudding, square sausage, mushrooms, eggs and toast, he could at least get the eggs right.

AIBU to expect him to take more care?

It’s lovely that he cooks for you at the weekend. It would be nice if he could take the trouble to make it how you like it. I don’t understand why so many people think you should just be grateful because he’s actually made a meal when you cook for him all the time. YANBU

I think a lot of the YABUs are from people who’s husbands don’t do anything for them so their bar is so low a half arsed effort seems wonderful.

Like people who say dads are so wonderful for babysitting their children so the mum can go out once in a blue moon.

We've had neighing lasagna so maybe mooing bacon is something we'll get with new trading agreements.

Back to eggs though...tell him exactly how many minutes you want the eggs fried, should be easy enough as you can see the yolk! It's not like boiled, where there's an element of luck.

Ahh eggs - I hate fried egg white with a passion but do rather like the yolks.
DH cooks fried eggs for himself (I won't eat them because of the ghastly white) and he fries them hard. He made one for DS2 the other day, so I suggested he keep the yolk soft because DS2 likes his dippy boiled eggs - and DS2 didn't bloody like it! But ate most of the white. SO I had the rest of his yolk, which was dippy on top but hard underneath.

When I was a kid, bacon and egg breakfast was a weekend regular in our house, and I learnt to cook it young - and cooking the top of the fried egg was achieved by flicking hot fat over the white part (I used to have bacon sarnies, no egg).

I am fussy about scrambled egg though - and therefore prefer to cook it myself - one friend, whenever I stay at her house, her DH lets me cook the scrambled eggs for breakfast because I hovered while he was doing it once (he does most of the cooking). It's become a bit of a standing joke!

Mustress - your DH should at least attempt to learn a better way to cook your eggs how you like them. It's not kind to continually disappoint you like this, even if it's not exactly deliberate - he's just not bothering himself to better his egg-frying ability, which shows a distinct lack of devotion. Not LTB levels, but he still Could Do Better.
