To ask what the secret is behind the Maltesers box?

Just that really: what is the box design all about? Why is there the circular hole? What are the perforated quarter circles for? Is it all some advanced alien technology or am I just too dense to understand a basic cardboard box?

Can't you just picture the Beefeaters as they are holding their mouths open like baby birds ( as you mentioned yourself doing up thread🤣) whilst they are being pelted with Maltesers to cause a distraction whilst we're making our millions.
And the banana flavoured aren't my favourite either @AlCalavicci and @MutteringDarkly, but they'll do in a pinch

I do know the feeling though. I bought my second bag of maltesers and had it on my nightstand for days...I don't know what came over me in the very early hours this morning(2am) but those
single balls of tastyness(@Alcalavicci's description, not mine, mum) just seemed to be calling out to me.Of course I needed to open it quietly so as not to wake DH, ( then I might have to share)I put the bag under the covers and carefully tore the package open just enough to get one out at a time.Also I didn't want to wake DH with my crunching, so I decided to try the melting in the mouth technique...my oh my! My new favourite way to eat maltesers.
Thank you ever so much for showing us your 3 photos of your maltesers box with its' nifty opening features ( which kind of had a hand in starting this whole thread)..btw, hope no one saw you photographing your maltesers box in varying stages of openness, as they might just think you are a nut🤣

Did you request Maltesers for Christmas this year?

But...did you share any of them?
I suppose with the UK putting limits on sugary snacks, there is going to definitely be a hoarding of Maltesers in the near future...better hurry before Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons gets wind of it and starts putting limits on the amount one can purchase. Remember last year when a posters said she couldn't find Maltesers anywhere after @Poptasmagorical started her post!😂😂😂

@Sweetpea1532 I did indeed share them I do love those little balls of loveliness so much, but my waistline does not. They say that sharing is caring, so in the hope of sharing a little joy after the rubbish year we have all had, I did exactly that.
Fingers crossed that this year is better for everyone so that I don't feel so compelled to share them quite so freely, in the event that I am lucky enough to be given some again during the season of goodwill

Why do you never get the delicious little random chewy one any more?

I suspect Gregg Everywhere on Telly went to the factory, found the room where they store the delicious little random chewy ones before they distribute them fairly in the boxes, and scoffed the lot. It’s the sort of thing he would do.

The hole in the top is so you can tilt your head back, align hole in box over the mouth whilst gently shaking it, thus allowing all that lovely chocolatey malty deliciousness fall into your cakehole.

Sharing is overrated IMO.

Hahahalol, 2020 has done your head in a bit...have you forgotten when someone posted that they'd been unable to find Maltesers anywhere back in Jan or Feb and accused us all of causing a national shortage?
@PollyGray...you sound like a real connoisseur of Maltesers since you worked out the REAL purpose of that hole

I find having opened the perforated bit, when pushed back down, it's ideal for stopping a malteser cascade when my cat knocks the box off the table.

@Sweetpea1532 I can’t remember much about last year, probably because I’ve had to block out the maltesers shortage in order to get through the covid nightmare!

I’m in shock who shakes one out a time! Surely the hole is there to help you rip off the lid and get your hand in. One at a time!!!
