to think that what Piers Morgan is doing on twitter to Meghan is harassment / stalking and he should be reported?

Fellow twitter users - I don't follow Piers Morgan on twitter but I've seen a lot of his tweets about Harry and particularly Meghan retweeted by others. I can't believe the vitriol he has for her. I've reported many of them to twitter as "targeted harassment" (one of the twitter report categories) but of course twitter has done nothing.
Surely his abusive behaviour is something that no woman should have to put up with? (but of course Meghan's hands are tied - she can't say or do anything). Why don't the police have a word? (because if someone was running that sort of campaign against me, I would be asking them to). Or at least twitter do something about him - shut him down for a couple of weeks maybe?

(And he’s only ever met her once!! Can we please let the “they were friends and she dropped him” myth go now?”)

Piers Morgan is like the embodiment of why women feel obliged to smile and be polite when men bother them on the street. If you don't let them down so lightly that it feels like landing on a feather bed, some men turn on you like velociraptors.

And then some of the others accuse you of leading them on.

She met him once and either she realised what he was like, or someone else Harry warned her off afterwards with a lowdown on Piers and his career highlight to date.

LaurieMarlow · 20/01/2020 09:34

Yet the TENTH thread pulling her and him apart are still going on

I agree the coven on here are every bit as bad. I’ve no idea why it’s allowed either.

Whoops75 · 20/01/2020 09:37

I agree and also think mumsnet should only allow one thread on MM.

SebandAlice · 20/01/2020 09:41

Pier and the Dailymail are like obsessive stalkers. Half of the online site stories in Mail are dedicated to Meghan. It is disgusting.

Harry was never going to be King so who cares and good for him if takes his own path. Anne and Edward don’t seem to do much and they are also a future kings siblings. Andrew is a pompous, entitled, idiot who I knew very little about until Epstein.

I always thought Piers had a personality disorder. I read his book. He is a horrible person.

yellowapples987 · 20/01/2020 09:44

the fact that he gets away with it, is still in paid work and lauded all over Twitter, underlines the power of white male media.

SebandAlice · 20/01/2020 09:44

Has anyone read this? Excellent article from buzzfeed

Here Are 20 Headlines Comparing Meghan Markle To Kate Middleton That May Show Why She And Prince Harry Are Cutting Off Royal Reporters

Over the years, Meghan has been shamed for the same things for which her sister-in-law, Kate, has been praised.

NicLondon1 · 20/01/2020 09:44

But what can we do? How do we complain? How do we start a campaign AGAINST HIM?!

Abouttimemum · 20/01/2020 09:45

I think the fact the British media / journalists can essentially say and do whatever they want in this country is the cause of most of the issues. The press complaints commission is next to useless.

Nanny0gg · 20/01/2020 09:47

Now M is no longer royal she won't be constrained by protocol.

Also won't have any royal protection (Don't mean security).

She and Harry might find it even harder to be private

SirChing · 20/01/2020 09:49

Harassment is never ok, and if what he is doing meets the legal definition of that, then I hope he is prosecuted.

If he isn't meeting those legal parameters, then what grounds would you have him silenced on?

Similarly, those wanting the threads on Harry & Meghan pulled because they "aren't nice". It's a worrying attitude. If the posts break MNHQ guidelines then fair enough, otherwise are people really happy to lose their freedom of speech simply because some people don't like what you are saying?

Today it's about Harry and Meghan, tomorrow it could be about Boris Johnson. Are you honestly comfortable with not being allowed to be critical within the law and rules of MN? On the grounds of it "not being nice"? Who decides that?

I am sad that people are so eager to pass up their freedom of speech, forgetting that next time it might be you that wants the right to say something , even if it is unpopular.

PhilSwagielka · 20/01/2020 09:51

She lives rent free in his head. It's creepy. And he's married, although I think his wife is OK with him cheating on her.

Tombliwho · 20/01/2020 09:53

He's so butthurt that they were "friends" and now she doesn't want to know him. It's like the dickhead at school that bullies girls who reject him.

woodchuck99 · 20/01/2020 09:56

We don't have total freedom of speech. If he has said/written anything that would count as slander or libel then they have grounds to sue him.

ClaudiaNaughton · 20/01/2020 09:57

He’ll love that you’re all talking about him. Switch to bbc.

woodchuck99 · 20/01/2020 09:58

Also won't have any royal protection (Don't mean security).

They don't seem to provide much protection anyway.

phoenixrosehere · 20/01/2020 10:00

@SebandAlice

Great link! I enjoy Buzzfeed because they tend to have decent journalists who aren’t afraid to question things as well as show evidence. Yet, some will ignore this and still blame Meghan for it all.

I was talking to some people at work and they had noticed the same things as I did with the bias against Meghan and we all agreed the step they took wasn’t surprising and anyone shocked by this were being relatively ignorant. Still amazes me how serious tabloids are taken here. It’s ridiculous.

I understand what you're saying but time and time again threads are pulled with the reason 'it is not in the spirit of MN'

Victoria Beckham, Katie Price et al

Roussette · 20/01/2020 10:01

I haven't been on GMB since the day he started. However, he is all over other places...

BlooperReel · 20/01/2020 10:03

Twitter is a misogynistic shit show, it does not care about women.

Ponoka7 · 20/01/2020 10:06

Spudlet, I love when Alan Sugar is onhe always gets a dig in about the phone scandal and Piers has to ignore it. It's the only time I watch because Sugar pulls him to pieces.

phoenixrosehere · 20/01/2020 10:08

She and Harry might find it even harder to be private

I don’t know about that. When they were in Canada for the holidays, you heard very little about them and less than usual from the press here.

Tellmetruth4 · 20/01/2020 10:13

It’s definitely reached scary levels and everyone I know (including the men) at work don’t blame them for leaving. It’s amazing that a man can so publicly victimise and stalk a woman and not be prosecuted for it.

It makes me so uncomfortable as it reminds me of the time I met a guy in a bar and we swapped numbers and spoke on the phone once. He then started bombarding me with phone calls. I responded the first couple of times but it escalated and I realised he was insane. He was contacting me multiple times an hour and then started threatening me, calling me names etc. He was outraged that I wouldn’t engage. I had to threaten him with police action before he left me alone. Some men really won’t accept being rejected by a woman.

ITV must have rules or at least a CSR team? Maybe advertisers should consider whether they want their brands to be connected to a prime time bullying campaign?

Inherdefence · 20/01/2020 10:14

I think Meghan is playing a long game here. Her and Harry are free agents now. She seems very focussed and ambitious and I think they will be remembered as a couple who did good work and trod their own path long after the increasingly irrelevant and out of touch gammon PM is forgotten.

I hope in a few years time the whole furore about them stepping away from the traditional royal ‘industry’ will be forgotten and they will be accepted as the modern face of a new style royalty.

Roussette · 20/01/2020 10:16

TellmeTruth4

Totally agree with your post and I think anyone who has had harrassment or stalking at the hands of a man can see Piers tweets for what they are. Nasty and vindictive and coming from someone who ridiculously feels spurned. He reckons he was 'used' by her. God knows how.
She was probably told about the phone hacking and sensibly tried to distance herself.
Some mens egos just cannot cope with being told NO, I don't want to know you.
