to think that what Piers Morgan is doing on twitter to Meghan is harassment / stalking and he should be reported?

Fellow twitter users - I don't follow Piers Morgan on twitter but I've seen a lot of his tweets about Harry and particularly Meghan retweeted by others. I can't believe the vitriol he has for her. I've reported many of them to twitter as "targeted harassment" (one of the twitter report categories) but of course twitter has done nothing.
Surely his abusive behaviour is something that no woman should have to put up with? (but of course Meghan's hands are tied - she can't say or do anything). Why don't the police have a word? (because if someone was running that sort of campaign against me, I would be asking them to). Or at least twitter do something about him - shut him down for a couple of weeks maybe?

Blimey, I had no idea the phone hacking cases were still being heard Spudlet
Why isn't this better known?
(Ha! I wonder! The media is suppressing it for their own benefit)
They should all have been put in prison for what they did. Yet still GMTV employ him. I think I might make an official complaint today.

But if she was famous in some way other than being a member of the royal family, she would be free to try and get some kind of restraining order on him, surely?

Nope. A public figure is classified as anyone who lives their life in the public eye. She was a public figure when she was an actress.

She can't ask for a restraining order unless he's actively trying to cause her physical harm. Trolling her on Twitter is not physically harming her.

ioioitsoff · 20/01/2020 08:26

There are people on Mumsnet who are just as bad. I think @mnhq should be stopping all threads like they did with Gina Ford

rumandbiscuits · 20/01/2020 08:27

He is very bitter towards her because apparently he dropped her as soon as she got with Harry. However, his obsession and dislike towards her makes me think he perhaps had a thing for her and she knocked him back?

pinyinchahua · 20/01/2020 08:27

@Lordfrontpaw
It’s too vile and too consistent to be anything other than bile. It’s also really well known how much the DofSussex loathes him - his wife is unlikely to collaborate with him like this (especially to the levels of nastiness he’s gone to).

Xenia · 20/01/2020 08:29

It would certainly be better if the couple could lead a non public life as plenty of the royals do manage reasonably well and not go on twitter or facebook or put out any publicity at all. That tends to keep the press away.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/01/2020 08:31

He is awful. But the same as much of the idiots who read the daily mail and believe entirely what they say

longwayoff · 20/01/2020 08:33

The man's a stalker, bitter, twisted, as they are. Now M is no longer royal she won't be constrained by protocol. I hope she sues him and he has to pay like Katy Hopkins has. Live in a tent, Piers.

Buggedandconfused · 20/01/2020 08:36

I’m appalled at what he had done/is doing and getting away with it.

I’m appalled at the vitriol, spite and hate he has for Meghan. One can only imagine if they had not resigned, the way Archie would have been treated by the press as he got older.

I’m also appalled at many threads on Mumsnet regarding Meghan & Harry where she is blamed. I have to mute them it makes me so sick to the stomach.

Awful, toxic, spiteful and nasty man.

Equanimitas · 20/01/2020 08:38

There is a view that his vitriol is also fuelled by a degree of panic about information about him emerging through the legal actions, particularly that he was directly involved in trying to buy stolen letters of Princess Diana's. Previously he's taken the line that he wasn't involved in any way.

lilybetsy · 20/01/2020 08:39

I dislike MM, but I agree Morgans behavior is unacceptable, harassment and disgraceful. It needs to stop

skiptheskip · 20/01/2020 08:42

I'm baffled as to why GMB have kept him on... I can't watch it when he's on there, or Suzannah.

He's definitely got it in for Meghan, he's obsessed.

Buggedandconfused · 20/01/2020 08:45

There are people on Mumsnet who are just as bad. I think @mnhq should be stopping all threads like they did with Gina Ford

THIS ^^

@mnhq why do you let this happen?

KeepCookingWithGas · 20/01/2020 08:46

Xenia, Yes!

With bells on.

Winebottle · 20/01/2020 08:49

He has taken it too far but it is not a police matter. Journalists have to be allowed to criticise public figures as much as they want.

Zipadeedoodah · 20/01/2020 08:51

Totally agree.. meanwhile those who Morgan would appeal to are on thread 10.. and seem baffled why they left !!

loobyloo1234 · 20/01/2020 08:53

Piers is so vile. Im not sure if he hates Meghan or secretly loves her. But no wonder Harry has had enough of the British media when he trashes Meghan every single day using his social media platform

Spudlet · 20/01/2020 08:53

Prince Harry’s phone was hacked in the ‘early 2000s’. Twitter didn’t launch until 2006, Facebook in 2004, and Facebook began as a network for people to connect with friends - the marketing aspect came later. The idea that one of Diana’s sons would have been left alone by the press if he’d wanted to be is naive at best.

TatianaLarina · 20/01/2020 08:53

Caroline Long Bailey (for all her many faults), Jess Phillips and Dawn Butler rightly called out sections of the press for essentially driving M&H out the country. The abuse M has had to put up with has been horrifying.

HulksPurplePanties · 20/01/2020 08:53

Journalists have to be allowed to criticise public figures as much as they want.

Calling Piers a Journalist is akin to calling Kim Kardashian an accomplished actress....

JoHarrison · 20/01/2020 08:57

I've just phoned GMB to tell them I've switched over to BBC in protest.

Here are the contact details for anyone else who wants to do so:
By Phone: 0344 88 14150 (Option 1)
The Viewer Services Team for Good Morning Britain are on hand to take your calls Monday to Friday from 6am to 10am. If our lines are busy you will be given the option to leave us a message or alternatively you can send an email to [email protected].
If you call outside our opening hours, you'll be able to leave a message.
(Calls cost 2p per minute from a BT landline. Calls from other networks may be higher, and from mobiles will be considerably more)

EntropyRising · 20/01/2020 08:58

He hasn't covered himself in glory as of late, he seems to have dropped any pretense of being a 'serious journalist' which I thought he was cultivating a few years back.

A free press is something we have to defend, even when it veers into the salacious.

M+H could, as Xenia says, do themselves a favour by just shutting up.

KeepCookingWithGas · 20/01/2020 09:00

Naive also to think you can publicise yourself via social media and chase followers without other scrutiny.

busybarbara · 20/01/2020 09:02

So you all seem to find some measly tweets to be "harassment" but couldn't understand the poster of the thread about how modern metoo/snowflake culture is killing "flirting". Irony.

Equanimitas · 20/01/2020 09:04

I stopped watching GMTV because I hate the way he constantly talks over people when he doesn't agree with them. I really don't know how the other presenters put up with him, I would utterly hate having to work with that all the time and it does come over as being pretty rude to them.
