to think that what Piers Morgan is doing on twitter to Meghan is harassment / stalking and he should be reported?

Fellow twitter users - I don't follow Piers Morgan on twitter but I've seen a lot of his tweets about Harry and particularly Meghan retweeted by others. I can't believe the vitriol he has for her. I've reported many of them to twitter as "targeted harassment" (one of the twitter report categories) but of course twitter has done nothing.
Surely his abusive behaviour is something that no woman should have to put up with? (but of course Meghan's hands are tied - she can't say or do anything). Why don't the police have a word? (because if someone was running that sort of campaign against me, I would be asking them to). Or at least twitter do something about him - shut him down for a couple of weeks maybe?

Oh and for Piers it’s because she didn’t sleep with him. Presumably.

Roussette · 21/01/2020 09:17

I think in the end it comes down to ‘taken our prince’ while having the audacity to be mixed race/American/an actress
Agree.
I just don't get the hate for her. Right from the start she was never going to be another Kate. She'd had a career, she came from a dysfunctional family.... polar opposite to Kate. It was never ever going to be the same.

I think it's because so many people can't accept change in whatever form that change takes.

When Meghan came along my first thoughts were... oh good, someone different, this will shake the RF which is great. I was just pleased that Harry (who is obviously a heart on sleeve type guy) had found someone who he loved.

But I think others were suspicious and the media fed off of that. It was insidious and quick, they hardly had a honeymoon with the press

QuantumEntanglement · 21/01/2020 09:18

phoenixrosehere ^People wanted them to leave, they are.
They’re paying back the money for the renovations and renting frogmore out.^

Right? I think what’s sticking in some people’s craw and especially PM’s is that they are voluntarily walking away with an unspoken but very much implied ‘fuck you’ to the British press and the part of the British public who are so bitterly eaten up with spite, envy and bigotry. It’s just not fair, she should have waited to be dumped by a belatedly remorseful Harry then forcibly cast into the outer darkness with a wailing and gnashing of teeth to live out her days barefoot in rags.

Womenwotlunch · 21/01/2020 09:39

PM wanted to destroy the marriage. He wanted Harry to ‘see the light’ and dump Meghan. He didn’t figure on Harry going too.
GMB keep him because he’s supposedly ‘controversial’. I had to stop watching GMB because it has become the PM show. He boasted about his wealth, his famous friends . He’s an egotistical ass and I for one can’t wait for him to get his comeuppance.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2020 09:44

Do people watch/read his rants because they like him or just want to see what he says next and enjoy the shock factor ?

Going by Piers' very own words, I've always thought that he thought she was going to shag him. I'm not sure she necessarily did! I think she thought it was a networking dinner between celeb friends.

It's a very basic story of man becomes friends with woman over social media. Man and woman meet up in RL for the first time, quite possibly with VERY different expectations for how the night is going to go. Man thinks meet-up went well. Woman thinks it over and refuses to see him ever again.

Man blames everyone except himself.

We see threads on MN from the woman's point of view all the time, especially dating threads:

OP: "I'm new to an area and trying to make local friends. Tonight I went on a first date. It was a lovely dinner and he really made me laugh. But he said x, y and z, which bothered me a bit. Some other new friends have told me he has a bad reputation among locals for being vengeful and destructive, and has warned me off him.

Are these definitely red flags? Should I ignore my other friends and agree to meet up with him again?"

MN: RUN LIKE THE WIND.

And so Meghan did.

Zipadeedoodah · 21/01/2020 09:53

Really interesting piece from Robert Crampton in The Times today saying although he is a republican he is sorry to see them go as they were a breath of fresh air and the most interesting to follow. It is a bit like Boxing Day now when all the fun people have gone and you've just got three hours of washing up and a hangover to contend with.

HuggedTrees · 21/01/2020 09:56

He’s stalkery obsessed with her. Made out like she was into him/went on a date and he got dumped for Harry. Complete bollocks and he’s been trying to screw her over ever since. So many people don’t continue friendships/work acquaintance when they move on from a job

HuggedTrees · 21/01/2020 09:57

MissSmith1 · 21/01/2020 10:22

I feel sorry for Wills and kate, not so much for them but if my two small children were going to grow up to this intense scrutiny, criticism, goldfish bowl existence then I'd be seriously depressed. What chance of them turning out 'normal' with this weight of responsibliity and expectation on their shoulders.

phoenixrosehere · 21/01/2020 10:26

@QuantumEntanglement

Exactly. The weird thing is either if they left or they divorced Meghan would have likely still kept her status as Duchess of Sussex since Diana and Sarah did after their divorces from Charles and Andrew. Why would you root for history to repeat itself, another failed royal marriage?

I think the only unfortunate thing Meghan did was believe that despite being warned about how nasty the British tabloid press would be is the lack of defence from the royal family who supposedly accepted her. They protected Prince Andrew more than they did Meghan. Nothing Meghan has done or not done is even close to Prince Andrew knowingly having ties with a sex offender. He embarrassed himself in that interview yet Meghan is evil incarnate for touching her bump too much, not standing on the steps after giving birth, guest-editing for Vogue, doing a clothing line to raise money for charity, etc..

The whole taxpayer money thing is even more annoying. I can’t imagine feeling I own someone and the rights to their baby for what.. 8 pence a month.

The feelings of ownership over them are mind blowing. It’s a good enough reason, in itself to get rid of the monarchy. It’s a dynamic good for no one.

‘I want her standing on the steps, posing with the baby, hours after giving birth.’

‘I want pics of the baby. No not the feet, the face. No, I want more face’

‘I want to criticise her for ridiculous shit like bump touching and avocado eating and I want her to take it with no come back.’

‘I want to play games with her by pitting her against Kate (with Kate always winning) and again I want no answering back’

Imagine if anyone treated your daughter like this? There’s no acknowledgement at all that this is a human being we’re dealing with.

For everyone’s sake, it needs to stop.

Piers only reports people on twitter and gets them banned. He's an idiot

ThebishopofBanterbury · 21/01/2020 15:44

Today on his show he has been mocking the way Chinese people talk. He can do anything and people never call him out on it. Tiny little prick of a man.

OMG... reallty? How in the name of all that is holy can he get away with that????

I am hoping it will take just one step TOO far for him. It happens. Look at Danny Baker. Morgan probably feels he is invincible and slowly but surely he pushes the boundaries. One day he'll get his comeuppance I'm sure.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2020 16:09

Piers just likes having celeb friends Meghan wasn't interested in being his buddy and when she got with PH that would have infuriated piers because he didn't have a royal chum, he wouldn't have thought of the meeting as "a date".

Angela1972 · 21/01/2020 16:15

With his constant hate preaching towards Harry and Megan he had turned a large part of the public against them.I think it's very sad, he's the same old Harry the country have loved dearly for so many years, yet it has gone so wrong. Most people I know can't wait to see the back off them, because they believe all they read in the news.We need a petition to get the nasty jealous stalker off the tv.

iwunderwhy · 21/01/2020 18:40

I genuinely don't understand what she has supposed to have done.

Yes...That's the point about misogyny and racism, you don't have to have reason. You just HATE... then use your dog whistle to whip up enough people. He is an incel.

I also saw that threat he made about taking her baby away from her,... you know like how they did to women during slavery, or in the holocaust. Because she isn't white she deserves to be treated like an animal ... for what? For daring to marry a Royal.

The Press/ Media Ombudsman ought to be seriously looking at him and if not the question is why not? The right to be a newspaper or broadcaster is given and can be taken away and it shouldn't have to take Mumsnet to make authorities get off their bums and do their job !!!.

Sunshineand · 21/01/2020 18:43

Twitter is notorious for allowing all kinds of vile hatred and not doing anything about it--I agree with you but they won't remove it so i would block him.

Mumsnet seems no better Tbh. They're allowing the hundreds of vile Meghan-hating threads to stand

yogo123 · 21/01/2020 19:02

I like him. He loves the monarchy and doesn't like her. He makes observations and voices them - he keeps them accountable for their actions. That is exactly what the media's job is. Also he calls them out for branding the whole media racist by comparing the stories to the stories published about Diana, Fergie and others! If anything the media are sexist!

ThebishopofBanterbury · 21/01/2020 19:15

Says alot about you as a person yogo.

Mummyshark2019 · 21/01/2020 19:16

They need to sack that piece of shit. Don't know why he is even on TV. Complete and utter dick of a man. Suzanna should take over the show. What does that other blonde woman even do. No idea why she's on the show. She never speaks. But then again who can with that knob head at the helm.
