I’m 45 - tragic mid life crisis territory or fuck it you only live once?

OP posts:

You only live once, go for it. Although I'd consider your employment if you're a doctor or teacher etc.

RamonaFlower · 16/01/2020 20:18

Do it. I got mine redone a couple of years ago and I'm now 44. I have a small gold hoop in and I love it.

BigBairyHollocks · 16/01/2020 20:18

Only live once imo.Go for it!

Cheeeeesecaaaaakkkeeee · 16/01/2020 20:34

Nooooo not too old at all!!!! I will still be wearing mine in my 40s and my other piercings. My DGM has hers done and she’s late 70s!

DMCWelshcakes · 16/01/2020 20:34

Do it. I'm in my 40s, have a nose stud and a very senior, responsible, professional job. Nobody gives a shit. I think the trick is to look like you've always had it & they've only just noticed.

Or perfect your "and your point is?" face.

AdoptedBumpkin · 16/01/2020 20:35

Go for it. #YOLO

SundayShawl · 16/01/2020 20:36

I've just turned 40 and over the last 2 years I've got helix, tragus, nose, scaffold and daith piercings. If you want it go for it! Grin

ByeMF · 16/01/2020 20:37

Why would you be defined by your dob?

AdoptedBumpkin · 16/01/2020 20:37

Love it @DMCWelshcakes.

MrsExpo · 16/01/2020 20:38

Any age is the wrong age for a nose piercing.

Fidgety31 · 16/01/2020 20:38

I think it can look like a mid life crisis trying to look younger - but if that doesn’t bother you then go for it !

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/01/2020 20:43

Do it OP! I am late 40s - got nose done fairly recently, also have tragus, helix, etc - love them. I have a responsible job and funnily enough they do not interfere with it in any way...

Leflic · 16/01/2020 20:44

You’ll get loads of “ go for it, do what you want” yadda yadda.

Personally everyone I know who had one at 40 plus had some sorry tale of divorce or alcohol absuse or breakdown etc and feel the need to tell you about it. It’s like the piercing is a constant reminder of the “struggle”.

Whereas the ones who go through all those things and don’t need a piercing are actually the more interesting I find.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 16/01/2020 20:46

If you want it, do it. You only live once.

GeePipe · 16/01/2020 20:46

My dm was 50 when she got hers. She loves it. It looks fantastic and looks like shes always had it. (Shes had it 4 years now). Really its true you do only live once. As my granny would say "you're a long time dead". And thats true. Every person on this planet has a different opinion on something. Who is correct here? The people who say its your life live it? Or the people who say "i dont like piercings they are horrible dont do it." End of the day if you dont like it you can take it out and no ones any wiser.

Veterinari · 16/01/2020 20:47

I good my nose pierced - no tales of woe or struggle. Just wanted it but never got round to it.

Interestingly my oldest friends and even my family didn't notice until I mentioned it after a few months - is hen they just looked puzzled and said 'but you've always had that...'

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 16/01/2020 20:48

I vote do it.

I'd love one, I always have, but I've got a big nose and think it wouldnt suit.

Copperleaves · 16/01/2020 20:48

So can you tell the difference between someone who gets their nose pierced at 45, and someone who had it done at 25 and still wears it at 45? asking for a friend

MoonbeamsAndCaterpillars · 16/01/2020 20:49

Nope!

I'm considering one too. I had one asap young teen though and wonder if the scar tissue might get in the way...

MoonbeamsAndCaterpillars · 16/01/2020 20:50

Might go for the other nostril

fantasmasgoria1 · 16/01/2020 20:50

I'm 44 and have septum, medusa, bottom lip, tragus, daith and 4 earrings in each ear! I couldn't care less!

MoonbeamsAndCaterpillars · 16/01/2020 20:50

As a young teen*

ThebishopofBanterbury · 16/01/2020 20:51

Ha I was considering one too at age 42! Definitely a mid life crisis for me too. Feel like I want to squeeze everything in before 50!

helpmum2003 · 16/01/2020 20:53

I don't think age should stop you.

Dizzygirl00 · 16/01/2020 20:56

Go for it! I’ve always wanted it done but I fear if I do it now my employer will make a fuss, because they’re like that 🙄 just got my first tattoo at 49 and I love it 😊
