I’m 45 - tragic mid life crisis territory or fuck it you only live once?

I think it’s a bit tragic. Mid life crisis springs to mind

AdoptedBumpkin · 16/01/2020 20:56

@fantasmasgoria1 The old dears would love you in my village Smile

stilltiredinthemorning · 16/01/2020 20:58

I'm 41 and had mine re-done a couple of years ago (after not having one for about 15 years). It's quite a subtle pretty little gold one, but it never even occurred to me it'd look like a mid life crisis tbh. I'm a fairly senior HCP, I can't imagine it ever being a problem at work (though I would wear a ring)

ColaFreezePop · 16/01/2020 20:58

Not sure if I clicked the right option.

Regardless you only live once. If you don't do it now you will be doing it when you are 60.

stilltiredinthemorning · 16/01/2020 20:59

wouldn't wear a ring

EmmiJay · 16/01/2020 20:59

Dooo it! I'm mid 30s now and still wear my monroe piercing with pride. I too am considering getting my nose done with a teeny tiny diamond stud.

Fidgety31 · 16/01/2020 21:00

I’m 43 and have considered getting my fairy pierced .
Maybe that’s a mid life crisis too !

namechangetheworld · 16/01/2020 21:03

Sorry, I do think it's a bit tragic Blush To be honest, I'm not keen on nose piercings on younger people either so that's probably clouding my judgement.

AllHeart1 · 16/01/2020 21:06

I think any age is the wrong age for any piercing other than ears. Tacky as ... but whatever, your money etc etc.

TheFuzzyStar · 16/01/2020 21:08

I’m 32, can’t imagine ever not wanting to wear mine..... 🤔

LR33 · 16/01/2020 21:08

Do it!
Always wanted mine done so did it.

Meltedwellie · 16/01/2020 21:12

Do it if you like but there is also the option of a ring which you can put on without needing a piercing. I quite fancy one of those.

RunForBurritos · 16/01/2020 21:23

Pah! If you were 87 my answer would be the same. You want a piercing? Go get a piercing.
There aren't many things mid forties is too old for, really. Sure, I wouldn't go clubbing now, but I never liked it that much in the first place.

RhitaGawr · 16/01/2020 21:26

Go for it. Get a pair of Dr. Marten's whilst you're at it! Late forties here and on second childhood. It's a state of mind, sod what anyone else thinks Grin

WarmSausageTea · 16/01/2020 21:27

Your nose, your choice. Go for it and enjoy it.

howmuchfood · 16/01/2020 21:29

I don't think they look nice at any age.

weegiemum · 16/01/2020 21:32

My dd1 has said she's taking me to get my nose done for my 50th this year - I've always fancied it!

Scatterlit · 16/01/2020 21:33

I have a nose stud and a very serious, responsible professional job with a lot of letters after my name.

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/01/2020 21:35

I had mine done when I was 45. I let it heal up about 5 years later, it doesn't have to be permanent if you don't like it.

vincentsleftear · 16/01/2020 21:53

I had mine done two years ago at the age of 53 - go for it!

MrPipsGran · 16/01/2020 21:56

Had mine done at 48. Waited 31 years to get it done. Love it!

MrsFrankDrebin · 16/01/2020 21:58

Go for it! I was relative staid at your age, just 3 earrings in each ear. Now, here I am a couple of years later, and I have 14 earrings between both ears (couple of conches, a tragus, several helixes and 4th at the bottom!). My boss (and we're both teachers - she's my line manager) asked me to take her to my piercer as she'd always wanted a nose piercing - and she's in her 50s!

As long as it's ok for your job, go for it! And, if you don't like it, you can get it taken out. But please choose an APP piercer (do your research) and get titanium jewellery with a labrett back done with a needle/canula. Definitely not a gun!

LellyMcKelly · 16/01/2020 22:03

If you want it go for it and don’t give a stuff what anyone else thinks. No such thing as too old. I’m 50 and still spend my weekends in a miniskirt and DMs. Do I give a fuck? No. If it gives people something to bitch about then it’s 10 minutes they’re not bitching about somebody else.

IndigoHexagon · 16/01/2020 22:06

I had mine done at 41 (first tattoo at 40! I now have 6)

For me, it was realising I had nobody to disapprove whose opinion I have cared about. My mum hated piercing and taboos but before she died she told me that life really was too short to worry about what other people think!

I like piercings on younger people but sorry I think mid 40s is a bit tragic.
