To ask if mid 40’s is too old for a nose piercing?

I’m 45 - tragic mid life crisis territory or fuck it you only live once?

I would automatically think mid-life crisis. But I would also think good for you!

ironicname · 16/01/2020 22:24

Not at all! It's your body and actually at our age we know what we want. If you change your mind you can take it out. Either way won't make a fundamental difference. Good luck to you.

greenlobster · 16/01/2020 22:47

Go for it!
I did mine when I was 18. Am 47 now and I still love it.

Durgasarrow · 16/01/2020 22:49

You can do what you like. But if you are asking if it will look stupid, yes, it will look stupid.

RedSheep73 · 16/01/2020 22:52

Personally I think it's gross - but the age makes no difference!

Sunflower20 · 16/01/2020 22:58

It’s up to you like I wouldn’t care if someone got their nose pierced. But I personally don’t like them, they just don’t look good.

StillMedusa · 16/01/2020 22:59

I want mine done and I'm 52! The only thing that has stopped me is my nose isn't great, but I also want a little hoop rather than a stud.

Both my daughters are in professional roles.. the doctor one has a tragus , tongue, and ear stretcher (she wears one that looks like a little pencil when she's working with kids..they love it!) the other is a nurse with both the nose ring and the centre nose ring (don't know what that is called) tho she tucks that away for work.

Go for it!

TooManyPaws · 16/01/2020 23:02

I had mine done at 57, together with my helix. I was just boring with three lobe piercings before but it's so enjoyable now I have no need to abide by uniform regulations! 😁 I'm planning on getting my tragus and anti-tragus done too, but only on one side because I have to wear a hearing aid in the other 😉. I've still not decided whether to add to the tattoo collection or get a mermaid hair dye job. Oh, and I work at managerial level in a professional job that requires a degree... I wear Doc Martens daily and one of my colleagues has green and blue hair. I'm not even the only one will piercings and tattoos in our team.

A friend in her 60s has just had her nose re-pierced.

NoFun21 · 16/01/2020 23:03

Yes too old.

TooManyPaws · 16/01/2020 23:03

Oh, my Indian colleague also has a pierced nose but is that OK if it's cultural, Hyacinth?

cousinboneless · 16/01/2020 23:07

All those saying it's tragic or will look stupid need to give their head a wobble. It's not that big a deal. Go for it. The worst you'll be left with is a tiny dot of a hole in one side of your nose if you choose to take it out. Maybe not even that.
Can't believe people can be so judgemental over one of the most socially acceptable facial piercings. Pearl clutchers at their finest.
They'd recoil in horror with one look at the amount of piercings I've accumulated. Never mind the tattoos. At least they're mostly hidden.
With age I'm less and less bothered about how people judge my appearance. It wouldn't occur to me to be so rude if the shoe was on the other foot.

lollybee1 · 16/01/2020 23:22

If it suits your image then yes it's fine.

FlaskMaster · 16/01/2020 23:28

Life is very short. Unless it's going to have any consequences for your job, just do what makes you happy.

RunForBurritos · 17/01/2020 07:29

LellyMcKelly I like you!

UsernameUnavaliable · 17/01/2020 07:34

Go for it! Who cares what others think! Do be aware of any job impacts it may have, you may have to take it out for work, which could cause it to close up if done too early, but if you want a nose piercing, do it

cassgate · 17/01/2020 07:35

I am 49 and want my nose done as well. I almost had it done last Saturday when I took Dd to have her ears repierced. I chickened our at the last minute as I am not good with pain. Anyone who has had it done (needle not gun) what was it like.?

MaggieAndHopey · 17/01/2020 07:42

If you want a nose piercing, get one! Who cares what anyone else thinks. I got mine done at 40 but I couldn't keep it in - never realised how much I rub my nose!

MeetmeinParis · 17/01/2020 14:27

I was 40 early last year, I wanted it done for my 40th but repeatedly talked myself out of it, reading this I'm thinking feck it and might still do it for my 41st. I vote do it and go either the PP who mentioned looking like you've always had it....

Newbie1981 · 17/01/2020 16:21

Probably. But fuck it

willothewispa · 17/01/2020 16:44

Do you want a nose piercing ? If yes, you are not too old.

Her0utdoors · 17/01/2020 16:56

Nope, crack on lass.

VivaLeBeaver · 17/01/2020 17:00

I'm in my 40s and have one. No marriage break up or any form of struggle here. I like it. Not bothered what people think. It didn't hurt having it done.

rattusrattus20 · 17/01/2020 17:07

People [admittedly mostly outside the UK & its predecessors] have been piercing their noses for thousands of years so, no, being born in the mid 1970s does not make you of a generation where such a thing would not be acceptable.

Delilah21D00LoT · 17/01/2020 20:16

Got mine re-done last year - I'm same age as you - and I'm very pleased I went ahead.
Do it!!

Mrstwiddle · 17/01/2020 20:31

I think they look hideous personally, but don’t think age should have an impact on your decision, well not in your 40s anyway.
