AIBU weird game at Hen Party

It was my friends hen last weekend and there were 12 of us together in a large flat we had rented - including the grooms sister.

MOH had arranged a stripper / butler in the buff type guy and we were playing some "naughty" hen type games - nothing unusual - until MOH gets out a Twister set and announces we were going to be playing Twister with this guy! Oh and the catch was every time you got a new pose there was a second spinner (kind of like the one in the game where it says left foot yellow etc) that had a body part on it and the guy would then tickle u in that spot for a few seconds to try and make u fall over! The first person to lose then had to do a forfeit like take a shot.

Now I don't mind silly hen games but don't really want to be tickled by a randomer! The spinner even had "bum" on it as one of the options! So I sat out but I was one of only 2 people to do so and the others all called me a prude! Some of the girls who played were married / had bfs as well!

So is it just me or is that really fucking weird! Have hen party games officially gone too far?

And here's an advert for the same show at the same theatre

GiveHerHellFromUs · 16/01/2020 09:22

Picture didn't work...

And here's the original Broadway production poster

Sorry, you said ALL the advertising and RIPPED men.

So, you're wrong - even the example you showed I'd hardly was showing off ripped men.

I'm not saying some of the advertising might emphasise the body element, but what you actually said is clearly not the case.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 16/01/2020 09:28

I can admit when I'm wrong. I have never seen an advert like the ones you've shared so I'll accept I shouldn't have used the word 'all'.

The show still appeals to a certain audience and, considering you're getting so defensive and aggressive, I'd assume you're a member of said audience.

It's fine if that's what's you like - it takes all sorts.

ShatnersWig · 16/01/2020 09:32

Nope. For one, I'm a straight man. For two, I work in the theatre industry.

Nips01 · 16/01/2020 09:57

Haha there was a lot of talk of the Full Monty being thrown around actually, and that song being sung etc!

So as I predicted some photos have already made their way onto Facebook! Luckily I saw them almost immediately and untagged myself - I just said in the group chat I would get in trouble at work, which is mostly true - but one of the boyfriends is not happy! Perhaps worse is the face that the brides 18yo sister has been tagged and her parents have seen it and reportedly not very happy with the bride!

All of this just further strengthens my belief that hen parties are THE WORST social occasions. Hideous.

TheRealShatParp · 16/01/2020 11:57

I hate hen/stag dos. They’re boring, tacky and apparently anything goes.

MeetmeinParis · 16/01/2020 14:24

I'd have been massively uncomfortable with that too OP, in fact, I'd have been uncomfortable playing ordinary twister with a half naked stripper so no, YANBU.

Nanny0gg · 16/01/2020 14:30

I don't understand why the word 'prude' is automatically applied when people find these kinds of antics uncomfortable.
It's so perjorative

messolini9 · 16/01/2020 15:54

I don't understand why the word 'prude' is automatically applied when people find these kinds of antics uncomfortable.

To give deny the 'prude' any right to their own body space & personal autonomy, Oggers, & to excuse themselves for trampling over the 'prude's' right to make her own decisions.

It's bullying, really.

Not if you have nice friends.

'All of this just further strengthens my belief that hen parties are THE WORST social occasions. Hideous.'

Stiff competition from baby showers. Dont think I could choose which is worst between them

woodhill · 16/01/2020 17:36

No,way would I join in.

Good to be prudish imo

Aragog · 16/01/2020 17:52

GiveHerHellFromUs - you've clearly not seen the show. As I said, I have - I went with A level drama students - the proper official stage show that is. It really had very little to do with a strip show - that aspect is right at the end. Throughout most of the show everyone is fully clothed. There is never any full nudity visible at all. Its actually a very gritty northern drama about unemployment in the steel works and its consequences - depression, loneliness, relationship issues, etc - and has some good dramatic, staging and music - which the students who went were mostly concerned with. The finale does include a 'strip show' but the way its done isn't really to do with the sexual element - and no full nudity takes place on stage. The lights go dark well before that part.

I'm not embarrassed to say I have seen it. At least, having seen it, I can actually say what it is actually about and what the content is about - and sex it really isn't.

And yes - one of the 4 posters above show the men undressed. 3 don't.

The audience was a mix of ages, sexes, ethnicities, etc. That's not just me guessing - it's who was actually there.

But anyway - you know best I'm sure!

GiveHerHellFromUs · 16/01/2020 17:58

No I haven't seen the show because of the reputation it has.

I'm happy to accept what you're saying as fact @Aragog but I also stand by what I say - the majority of people don't go for the theatrical performance, they go for the men. OP has mentioned the Hens also spoke about The Full Monty. They're the exact kind of people I'm referring to.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 16/01/2020 18:36

Wait, what? People think The Full Monty is a strip show?
I've seen the film, it's brilliant. (Would love to see the musical too)
If it's anything like the film, it's about Sheffield steel workers who end up unemployed and are trying to find work.
Story mostly revolves around how their relationships are affected by this, one's mental health, their marriages, their kids etc.
If you think it's getting your kit off you clearly don't know what you're talking about!
Haven't seen it for a while but from what I can remember the only scene they take their clothes off is right at the end and only then it's a back shot and you don't "see" anything.
Brilliant and sad in places film

Nanny0gg · 16/01/2020 18:38

Speaking as a 'prude'

The Full Monty film was amazing.
Not had a chance to see the stage version.

Aragog · 18/01/2020 09:32

To be fair for the thread it is only two people who seem to think The Full Monty is a strip show and one of those has never seen the stage show they were happy to declare as such. We are also in Sheffield and saw it at a Sheffield theatre.

Aragog · 18/01/2020 09:33

Yes the stage show is the same story as the film. But you don't see nudity at the end there either - the lights go off as they do the 'finale' of their staged strip at the club. So nothing is seen at all.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 18/01/2020 15:04

I've never seen The Full Monty either, because I associate it with hen parties and sexual objectification.

Is it actually a thoughtful exploration of how a group of men are forced into the sex industry by poverty, then?

SueEllenMishke · 18/01/2020 15:45

Having seen the full monty a number of times I can safely say I've never associated it with hen parties or sexual objectification.
The problem is, people have taken the soundtrack and used it for strip shows etc. so people now assume the film/show must be highly sexualised. It really isn't.

It's s wonderful, sad and poignant story ....and very, very funny.

ClumzyOwlz · 18/01/2020 16:04

If be up for it if I'd had a few shots first.
