to think white Ferrero Rochers should be banned

or at least come with some sort of warning?

I was given a 'tray' of Ferroro Rocher for Christmas. The tray consisted of white, brown (original) and dark brown Rocher. Not partaken since about 1994 so was quite excited to have a "ooh monsieur you are spoiling us" moment.

Opened the white one. WTAF? Desiccated coconut absolutely everywhere. Who invented these bags of dandruff? They are cunningly designed to ensure coconut falls out immediately upon opening. Doesn't even contain white chocolate. Just tastes of coconut. What's the point? No one in my household has been able to eat one without making an almighty mess. Might as well shake a bag of the desiccated stuff around the lounge.

These are not fit for the Ambassador's reception.

Any other 'chocolate' abominations I need to be aware of that I've missed?

Anyone tried the white Lindor balls? They taste like butter. And leave your lips all greasy.

UptightFunk · 10/01/2020 22:07

They are the BEST. They only used to be around at Christmas so OH was tasked with keeping his eyes peeled and buying whenever he saw them so I could stockpile (I did the same too). Mmmmmm now I want some

drspouse · 10/01/2020 22:08

YABVVVU.
All Ferrero Rocher are evil and vile.
Also, the stupid plastic box is a waste of the planet's resources.

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2020 22:09

Mmmmm.....tucking into my box now.....

TheGrump · 10/01/2020 22:10

@KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh, yes the dark chocolate line vanished quick time here too.....

Can't even put the white ones out for the birds as the desiccated coconut makes their bellies swell apparently.....

I had a flake last night and there was chocolate everywhere! I'd have gone nuts if my kids had made the mess that I had.

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2020 22:11

Anyone??

to think white Ferrero Rochers should be banned
IwantToDatePicard · 10/01/2020 22:11

My favourite as well.

TheGrump · 10/01/2020 22:12

@CointreauVersial you are the Ambassador non????

OhNoMyCheds · 10/01/2020 22:12

Also, they inexplicably give me ulcers. YANBU

Jitterbugger · 10/01/2020 22:13

YAB ridiculously U. Ferraro Roche are sickly and nasty. Raffaellos are amazing. I'd happily munch through a whole box of them.

TeeniefaeTinseltoon · 10/01/2020 22:13

Also, I got a selection box by Ferraro and in it was a coffee one, never had it before and it was lovely.

canijustaskonemorething · 10/01/2020 22:13

@Unshriven

They were Ferraro Fresco Mints.

They had a clear minty liquid in the middle 🤮🤮

AllergicToAMop · 10/01/2020 22:14

Why are people talking about "The original"Confused
Ferrero Rocher and Ferrero Raffaello are NOT a same product. It's like Haribo bears and Haribo egg thingy in the mix. Different products, often in a same bag

AllergicToAMop · 10/01/2020 22:14

@CointreauVersial damn you

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2020 22:17
Grin
TheGrump · 10/01/2020 22:18

@AllergicToAMop you're quite right. They are different. But back in the olden days we only had Ferrero Rocher and I didn't realise that in the intervening years since 1994 a whole family of them had come into being. Hence having to talk about the 'original' Grin.

We were given the same tray. I probably hadn’t eaten chocolate in a year so felt obliged to try them all.

Bastarding things. We had to use nail scissors to open the fuckers and then, yes, desiccated coconut everywhere. They weren’t even nice.

The dark ones though, were gorgeous but also absolute bastards to open.

FranticToddlerMum · 10/01/2020 22:20

I've only ever seen traditional chocolate ones but your description is hilarious. I'm tempted to buy these coconut ones for woman at work now (she eats too bloody loudly and I want some revenge)!

TheGrump · 10/01/2020 22:22

@DickDewey, yes, they use a very super strong glue making it impossible to tear off.. Nail clippers are a good call. Or Swiss Arm Knife perhaps (do people still have those). This thread has shown me to be an old gimmer.....

Nobody has mentioned putting them in the fridge first which makes them food the gods would die for. Just straight from the box they are yucky and messy.

TheGrump · 10/01/2020 22:26

@FranticToddlerMum - yes a good revenge food. Her desk will be a right old mess. She will never get the coconut bits out of her keyboard.

AllergicToAMop · 10/01/2020 22:26

@TheGrump we had it the other way around😂 Raffaello was the more known.
I am so surprised at how many people don't know them. They will have 30th birthday this year!😁

JengaNonConfirming · 10/01/2020 22:26

Ferrero Roche are just grim, they just taste of hazelnut chocolate spread. Raffiello are heaven 😍😍😍 (runs and hides)
