BF infected me and won’t do anything about it

Found out I have threadworms, for the first time ever. I have OCD about hand washing and hygiene so I was shocked I’d picked them up as I’m scrupulous about personal and home hygiene. My BF has a six year old brother and naturally came to the conclusion he is the source of the infection as primary schools are obviously germ central Confused

Asked BF about it and he said he’s had them a few times. The crux of the issue is he can’t swallow tablets as he hates the texture/sensation. So he’s never took Ovex etc, and as adults usually don’t feel the itching etc, it’s likely he has them. I’m distraught as this has made my anxiety and OCD flare up, I’m washing my hands 100+ times a day and they’re bleeding and sore and I’m furious BF won’t do anything.

AIBU to tell him he has to take the medicine (liquid version) as he will constantly reinfect me?

YANBU! Get him the liquid!

1plus2equalstrouble · 31/12/2019 13:25

Yanbum. He gets treated or dumped

Sushiroller · 31/12/2019 13:25

Envy not envy.

If he wouldn't take the meds I'd leave him.

Queenoftheashes · 31/12/2019 13:27

Just don’t let him near you until he’s sorted it. Gross.

user1471449295 · 31/12/2019 13:27

Fuck me that’s an appalling attitude. I’m sorry I would dump. I wouldn’t be able to go near him again. He doesn’t even think it’s a big issue?!?!? What the fuck?

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 31/12/2019 13:29

Well, he doesn't have to take the medicine, but if he chooses not to, you know where you stand and the relationship has changed irrevocably.

Singlenotsingle · 31/12/2019 13:31

Yuk. What a horrible man.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 31/12/2019 13:32

I wouldn’t even let him in the house until I personally saw him swallow the medication. Dirty fucker is probably the one reinfecting his little brother. He will reinfect you through bedding, towels, handling food and even the bloody toilet roll. He needs to take the meds and make sure he scrubs under his nails while washing his hands.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 31/12/2019 13:32

None of us here use the tablets. Always the liquid. Good news is once primary school is over then the infections tend to stop

PineappleDanish · 31/12/2019 13:32

You can also chew the tablets, you don't have to swallow them whole.

Scrapbookqueen1 · 31/12/2019 13:33

Please calm down, you are stressing yourself out on top of this. The threadworms whilst gross are relatively harmless. Two weeks and it’ll all be clear. Do you live together? If not, tell BF he isn’t welcome at your house until he is clear.

CarolinaPink · 31/12/2019 13:33

Revolting. If not want anything more to do with him since he doesn't see the issue. Ugh...

Dieu · 31/12/2019 13:34

Tell him to man the fuck up, and get the medication.

GinNotGym19 · 31/12/2019 13:35

This is revolting.
He’s lived with worms multiple times because he can’t swallow a tablet?!!!
Also questioning his hand washing hygiene.
This would probs be a deal breaker for me!

Tombliwho · 31/12/2019 13:37

Does he actually realise there is a liquid? You can't tell him he has to do anything but you can ask him to try the liquid.

Pipstelle · 31/12/2019 13:38

Time for a new boyfriend in 2020 OP! Envy

Nanamilly · 31/12/2019 13:38

OP, in all seriousness his behaviour is as bad as bad toilet hygiene, dirty undies, and all the other things people often mention in posts. Any sign of bad toilet hygiene would be a deal breaker for me and I'd have nothing more to do with the person.

You deserve better than this.

jackwhitehallsdad · 31/12/2019 13:43

Yes, he does know there’s a liquid. He’s a bit rubbish on hand washing and is also a thumb sucker at night, and when he stays over doesn’t always remember clean underwear/clothes for the next day. I was fed up with these issues before, and did bring them up - but now it’s a deal breaker.

Let your hands heal. They are more likely to pick up infections if they are covered in open sores.

Your BF is an uncaring and dimwitted twat.

Crazybunnylady123 · 31/12/2019 13:44

Sick. It’s like the tiniest tablet. It happened once when I lived at home and my parents got tablets for my boyfriend and my brothers girlfriend as well. Job done.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 31/12/2019 13:45

You can just chew the tablet Shock That's just manky.

dognamedspot · 31/12/2019 13:46

" He’s a bit rubbish on hand washing and is also a thumb sucker at night, and when he stays over doesn’t always remember clean underwear/clothes for the next day. " What a prize! Just think, you could be rid of him by tomorrow.

christma5isover · 31/12/2019 13:49

I can't take tablets the traditional way but soon realised I couldn't avoid taking tablets forever. I chew up some food then pop the tablet in and swallow. He needs to try something like this instead of avoiding the issue!!

MitziK · 31/12/2019 13:49

Jesus. Are you sure this a man and not a three year old?

Actually, I'm doing three year olds an injustice there, they take medicine.

ferrier · 31/12/2019 13:50

Deal breaker here. No way would I be 'putting up' with threadworms for 2 weeks. They itch like crazy. Literally hopping up and down with them and no chance of sleep. Fortunately the tablets work quite quickly.
And as pp said, once out of primary school they are rare.
